It is actually the sixth SUV added to company’s line-up, which consists of RAV4, Kluger, FJ Cruiser, LandCruiser Prado and LandCruiser 200 Series. Toyota representatives say that the Fortuner is not only stylish, but also remarkably strong and features the option of a 4-wheel drive.

    Engine

    2015 Toyota Fortuner's Diesel Engine

Toyota’s 2.8-litre diesel unit is absolutely new and is characterized by its efficiency, capability and performance. It uses highly efficient fuel-injection system and intake/exhaust ports. In addition, the engine is notable for its high torque at low revs. Precisely, it has a maximum torque of 450Nm (332 lb-ft) available from 1600 to 2400rpm. Regarding the horsepower, the powertrain generates 177 hp (130kW).

However, the manual’s peak torque is a little bit lower – 420Nm (310 lb-ft). GXL and Crusade grades get ‘intelligent’ technology for their six-speed manual gearbox. It helps in achieving smoother shifting by matching engine speed to transmission speed.

When it comes to fuel consumption, the Fortuner shows number below 8 litres per 100km.
