  • Introducing the 2022 Subaru Forester e-BOXER

    2022 Subaru Forester e-BOXER - Front Angle

Since its debut in 1997, the Forester has been a popular choice among customers, establishing its trust as a safe, fun and reliable package.

Over the last 25 years, the Forester has sold over 357,000 units in Europe, establishing itself as one of the best-sellers in the line-up. Its accumulated global production reach about 4.5 million units.

The latest model Forester presents a refreshed version, offering new safety functions, more capability, new convenience features, and improved driving dynamics.

The 2022MY Forester is safer than ever, equipped with newly advanced safety technologies available as standard on the latest 4th generation EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. The enhanced safety system features a wider field of view, almost doubled, available with 11 safety functions, and among which 3 new functions were added, such as Automatic Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise control with Lane Centering, Lane Departure Prevention recognizing also dividing line like grass or road edge.

The Pre-Collision Braking System offers now expanded support for collision avoidance at intersections.

Driver Monitoring System, Subaru’s facial recognition technology that alerts the driver of fatigue or distraction while on the road, as well as automatically adjusting driver settings for seat position, door mirror angles, and air-conditioning preferences, has been enhanced for the 2022MY Forester with a new gesture control function, allowing the driver to raise and lower the set temperature of the automatic climate control system through hand gestures.

It is built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP) that offers dynamic performance resulting in superior handling and stability, improved hazard avoidance performance, more responsive steering, and exceptionally low vibrations. The improved coil springs and dampers of front and rear suspension provide a more refined ride comfort and more agile handling.

The latest Forester continues the model’s tradition of offering a car-like ride and handling with the capability of an SUV. Standard (permanent) symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive (S-AWD), a trademark of Subaru’s vehicles, provides all-weather confidence and capability, while standard active torque vectoring offers improved handling and cornering performance.

The MY2022 Forester offers a unique combination of S-AWD with the e-BOXER powertrain. This incorporates a direct-injection 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor within the customized Lineartronic transmission, achieving a smoother, 30% more linear, responsive acceleration and a highly responsive torque.

The Subaru e-BOXER system adjusts the power-split ratio between the dedicated 2.0-litre direct-injection (DI) engine and the electric motor to match the driving condition, changing between 3 driving modes: Engine driving, EV driving, and Motor Assist driving. From standstill, or at low speed, the electric motor alone powers the vehicle, for a quiet and zero-emission driving. At medium speeds, power combined both from the motor and the engine give a responsive, linear and fuel-efficient acceleration, while at high-speed the 2.0L Boxer engine powers the vehicle while recharging the battery.

The standard driver-selectable mode (SI-DRIVE), is Subaru’s powertrain performance management system that allows the driver to tailor the vehicle’s throttle characteristics by choosing between “Intelligent” (“I”) and “Sport” (“S”) modes, adds more flexibility for a more convenient and enjoyable drive.

With 220 millimeters of ground clearance, it is well suited for off-road adventures, while the dual function X-MODE (“Snow/Dirt” and ”Deep snow / Mud” modes) is now offering improved functions, suited for a variety of weather and road conditions. A control function has been added that restores X-Mode system, with the ability to automatically re-engage once the vehicle speed drops to 35 km/h or less, enabling drivers to concentrate more on driving without needing to operate the switch again. The Hill Descent Control function that automatically maintains a constant speed when travelling down hills with foot off the pedal, has been improved so that the brake is released when the accelerator is pressed further and the brake is applied immediately after the accelerator is subsequently released, so driver can fully focus on steering while driving downhill.

Keeping its rugged and capable character known as a workhorse, the 2022MY Forester offers a towing capacity of 1,870 kg.

The roomiest, most capable Forester to date, features a high-quality interior, spacious passenger cabin and an expanded cargo compartment with a generous cargo space of 509L (with the back seat up). The luggage volume even increases to 1,779L with the seats down, leading to up to 1.98 metre long loading area.

Upper cargo hooks have been adopted to make use of the height of the Forester’s trunk space, to facilitate safe hanging and holding of luggage.

The latest Forester model debuts a more rugged style based on the “DYNAMIC X SOLID” design philosophy, with a redesigned front fascia, grille, headlights and fog light covers.

New color choices include “Cascade Green Silica”, “Brilliant Bronze Metallic” and “Autumn Green Metallic”.

The 2022MY Forester is available with 8-inch screen navigation featuring the latest infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay*1 and Android AutoTM*2.

  • Subaru Family Will Be Granted With Additional Standard Features

2016 Subaru FamilySubaru announced that the Automatic Emergency Braking system will become a standard feature for all of brand’s lineup in the US by 2022. Cool, right?

As you might know, Subaru is one of the 20 automobile manufacturers that received excellent scores by the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

The Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEB) contributes to preventing crashes and reduces their severity by engaging the brake system instead of the driver. What the AEB does is to use on-vehicle sensors such as radar and cameras to detect imminent crash, warn the driver and apply the emergency braking, when needed.

Based on tons of evidence that the AEB system actually works effectively, NHTSA and IIHS have created numerous challenges for Subaru and its renowned system, which were no match for all the engineering masterminds of the brand.

Furthermore, IIHS researches has found that the AEB system reduces the rear-end crashes by the incredible 40 per cent. Also, the earliest NHTSA tests show that the use of AEB has prevented a total of 28,000 crashes and 12,000 serious injuries. Sound good, right?

By far the Autonomous Emergency Braking system has been installed on the 2016 Subaru Legacy, Outback, Forester, Impreza, WRX and Crosstrec vehicles. Also, they are geared with the award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. All of these models earhed the 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award.

  • 2015 Subaru Forester Gets Engine and Interior Updates

Subaru has revealed further details of the upgraded 2015 Subaru Forester which is going on sale in the UK on 1 April. The car arrives with a new powertrain and enhanced cabin. The decision to pair the well-known 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed ‘Boxer’ diesel engine with a diesel-Lineartronic CVT (continuously-variable transmission) powertrain turns out to be more than just a useful idea because this way the car receives boosted off-road capabilities and can offer smoother and more relaxing drive.

Matched to the standard All-Wheel Drive drivetrain, the Lineartronic also brings the prominent Subaru’s Hill Descent Control (HDC) and the X-Mode system. They help the car deal with extremely slippery roads and manage the Forester’s brakes, torque and drivetrain. But exactly how powerful is the Boxer diesel engine? It delivers precisely 148 hp (109 kW) with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

The Lineartronic transmission fitted to the 2015 Forester’s 2.0-litre diesel engine is the same high-capacity CVT found on the powerful 240 PS XT Turbo model, and is engineered to manage the diesel engine’s high 350 Nm torque output. Thanks to the new unit-gearbox combination, the updated Subaru Forester will return 46.3 mpg and 158 g/km CO2 on the combined cycle. Moreover, the vehicle is able to accelerate from 0 62 mph in 9.6 seconds. Models fitted with a diesel engine mated to a standard six-speed manual can return 49.6 mpg and 148 g/km CO2 on the combined cycle. The 0-62 mph run is covered in 9.8 seconds.

While the exterior of the Subaru Forester is pretty much unchanged, the interior gains some notable alterations. It features 7.0-inch touchscreen, fitted as standard to all XC, AC Premium and XT trims. The automobile takes advantage of factory-fit touchscreen infotainment and a new navigation system. Finally, there are innovative pioneer dealer-fit options as well. The starting price of the 2.0D X Lineartronic is that of £26,495.

  • Is 2015 Forester STI Subaru’s Sportiest Model? [TEASER]

2015-Subaru-Forester-STi-Teaser-THUMBEver thought that Subaru will release a STi version of the 2015 Forester model. And is you have been patiently waiting for it, well the news is that you will have to wait a little bit more, because the company has only released four teaser images revealing separate parts of the forthcoming car. Also announced was that the 2015 Subaru Forester STi is set to make an official premiere on 25th of November. The biggest question is whether this car will be the sportiest Subaru model created up to date.

The official details around it are scarce and as we can see from the pictures, the Forester STi features aggressive aero and cooling, upgraded rolling stock and bigger brakes, as well as the signature Galaxy Blue Pearl blue paint and red accents. There are also bigger wheels, front spoiler lip and sportier suspension setup.

In terms of power we still don’t know what we are to see. The engine will definitely produces more than 250 horsepower (184 kW), because this rating is offered by the top-of-the-line Forester 2.0XT. At the same time it is also unlikely that the Forster STi gets the 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine which we have seen in the WRX STi.

To be more precise, it delivers 305 bhp (227 kW) and 393 Nm (290 lb-ft). What we actually expect is an output a bit less for the Forester. Another thing in question is whether this car will be offered around the globe except for the Japan, where it will be officially produced. We are definitely eagerly to see this powerful model rolling in Europe or US.

  • 2013 Subaru Forester – Crash Test [video]

The new generation of Subaru Forester will hit the market, next year. The cross-over has been awarded the highest five-star rating by the European New Car Assessment Programme for its safety performance.

“This is a strong result for a model that has consistently been one of our best-sellers, and the all-new Forester’s active, passive and hazard avoidance technologies will make it one of the safest cars on and off the road.  That the new model will be more practical, more economical and more refined than its predecessor only adds further to its appeal.”, said Haydn Davies, Marketing Director, Subaru UK.

The 2013 Forester managed to score high results in all four areas – Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Pedestrian Protection and Safety Assist. This happens thanks to Subaru’s unique ring-shaped reinforcement frame body and the extensive use of high-tensile steel.

Subaru’s unique permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system remains at the heart of the vehicle; paired with Vehicle Dynamics Control, the Japanese brand’s electronic stability control system, this contributed to a high Safety Assist score from Euro NCAP.

The 4th-generation Forester builds upon the outgoing model’s credentials as a user-friendly compact SUV, with improved performance, safety and efficiency and a larger, more practical cabin.

A low centre of gravity and improved body rigidity – the result of Subaru’s hallmark Boxer engines and the use of high-tensile steels respectively – contribute to improved refinement and fun-to-drive characteristics.
