  • 2015 Ford Mustang GT – 5.0 liter Supercharged V8 – 700HP

The new 6th generation Ford Mustang is going to get a supercharger kit from Whipple. They will offer a 2.9 liter twin-screw supercharger for the V8 5.0 liter engine.

The result is no less than 700HP (522 kW) when running on 91-octane fuel. This is an increase of 280HP, but nothing is mentioned about the torque. The supercharger kit is offered with a standard six-or optional ten-rib belt system along with an aluminum intercooler.

The customers will be able to opt for a 5-year or 100,000-mile engine warranty.

    – An estimated 700HP with 91-octane fuel
    – No other upgrades required, just massive power right out of the box, more HP per PSI than any other system
    – Front entry W175ax (2.9 liters) Whipple twin-screw supercharger that significantly outperforms competitions 1.9L and 2.3L roots-type systems
    – 26% more displacement then Eaton 2.3L supercharger
    – Integrated Crusher™ 170mm oval inlet
    – Massive air-to-water aluminum bar-plate intercooler with 15% more square area then previous generation
    – Massive aluminum intercooler reservoir holds more than double the IC water then previous generation
    – Whipple Superchargers massive oversized intercooled air-bypass system for industry leading reduction of burst knock and incredible fuel economy
    – Self-contained oversized oil system for dramatically reduced oil temps in even the most demanding conditions
    – One-turn turn inlet allows for decreased induction losses when compared to rear inlet systems and 180deg bends
    – Center discharge port for better cylinder to cylinder distribution then other twin-screws with cobbled together billet adapters and forward facing discharge
    – Discharge down design allows for less pressure loss which gives more power at lower boost levels
    – Top mount design allows for cooler operation then upside down SC’s that conduct heat from engine and are trapped by runners and covers, causing hotter manifold temps and less power per pound of boost
    – More boost at the “hit” than any other twin-screw
    – Flat torque curve for incredible acceleration
    – Oversized heat exchanger for incredible intercooler water temps
    – 65lb/hr high flow fuel injectors included
    – Proven 6-rib belt system with adjustable idler system for easy belt changes and multiple pulley configurations
    – Optional race 10-rib belt system
    – Stainless steel jack-shaft with unique plastic cover (or optional carbon fiber) for increased safety

  • Ford Auctions First 2015 Mustang GT For $300,000

2015-Ford-Mustang-GT-First-Unit-shadow2015-Ford-Mustang-GT-First-Unit-medium-1Last week we talked about the Barret-Jackson sale where the rights to buy the first production Camaro COPO for 2014 and the first Z/28 were auctioned off. However, there were even more production firsts that went under the hammer. Car collector and North Texas Ford dealer, Sam Pack signed a $300,000 check after placing a winning bid for the first retail production 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Yikes.

It’s not just money spent for bragging rights though. A part of the sum goes to the JDRF charity, a leading diabetes research organisation that has been endorsed from Ford since 1983. Mr Pack will also have the benefit to peruse the options list and customize the GT to his liking. He can choose any colour scheme he fancies for the inside and outside, and he can go with either a manual or an automatic. (fingers crossed for stick). Oh, and the design team will sign the car as an act of appreciation of the donation to JDRF.

The 2015 Ford Mustang brandishes a throaty V8 that turns out “more than” 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. It also doesn’t fall behind in terms of connectivity and ease of use. And by that we mean launch control – for that exquisite off-the-line start. A pony that actually doesn’t want to destroy it’s tires. Who would have thought?

  • 2015 Ford Mustang Debut

    2015-Ford-Mustang-shadow2015-Ford-Mustang-medium

After Chevrolet’s jab yesterday about how the Camaro is thrashing the Mustang in terms of sales, Ford delivers a hasty comeback. It’s a brand new pony! The 2015 Ford Mustang got unveiled today simultaneously in six cities across four continents.

How do we know it’s a Mustang? Well, the press release says so, but also just look at it. It is a modern reinterpretation of a classic shape: a long hood and a short behind, still low, and still sloping at the back. So not many surprises on the outside then.

What did shock us a bit, however, was the fact that it will now be available with a 2,3-liter EcoBoost. Never thought that you can put “Eco” and “Mustang” in one sentence. But because of some clever engineering (variable cam timing, a special intake manifold and turbocharger housing) you expect around 305 hp and 407 Nm of torque which is pretty decent to say the least. Of course, purists can still refer to the 5.0-liter V8 engine that goes all the way up to 420 hp and 529 Nm of torque. An automatic gearbox with paddle shifters is available as an option.

The good news is that whatever power grade you get, you will be able to put it to good use. The 2015 Mustang has an all-new suspension system. The front gets treated with a new perimeter subframe that stiffens the front structure yet remains lighter than its predecessors. The back axle is mounted on an integral-link independent suspension. The geometry, springs, dampers and bushings all have been specifically modified and tuned for high-performance cornering. Aluminum knuckles help reduce the curb weight. All Mustang GT models in Europe will come as standard with 19-inch wheels and performance brake packages.

It’s not just the materials used that are clever, but the nervous system that operates them as well. There are different modes selectable from the plane cockpit-inspired cabin. Thus you can adjust the throttle response, steering feedback, and transmission and ESC behaviour to your taste. There’s torque vectoring for the wheels and the manual transmission GT Mustangs have launch control which should be loads of fun on the track. Optional conveniences include the 8-inch navigation system accompanied by a 12-speaker sound system.

  • Ford Launches Mustang Countdown Video Series

Ford is launching “Mustang Countdown” online video series, with which is going to celebrate the 50 years old history of the emblematic car. The videos can be followed on Ford Mustang’s official YouTube page and they throw the spotlight on the legendary sports car and the culture that has formed around it. The video series will continue until the celebration of the 50th birthday of the car on 17th of April 2014.

The first video is called “Where It All Started: The Mustang 1 Concept” and it put an emphasis on the 1962 debut of the first concept car which wears the pony badge. You can view it below. From there the episodes reveal Ford’s exhaustive Mustang archives, Mustang toys, custom Mustangs and more all featuring unique and often rare footage, exclusive new interviews and expert insight.

Furthermore, the “RC Movie Magic: Filming a Chase” delivers a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of filmmaker Zach King’s recent project “The Cliché RC Action Chase”. In fact, the short film went viral earlier this year, garnering nearly 3 million views only on YouTube. A pair of radio controlled Ford Mustangs star in an action-packed sequence that includes drifting around corners, tight racing and helicopter gunships.

In fact, more than 9.2 million Ford Mustangs have been sold since the official debut of the iconic car in 1964. The model made till now more than 3,000 appearances on film and TV, some of which include “Bullitt” (1968), “Gone in 60 Seconds” (1974 and 2000), “I Am Legend” (2007) and Drive (2011).

“Mustang Countdown” series is another way in which Ford is honoring that heritage with numerous celebrations over the next year. Morel’s exclusive and unique combination of style, performance and affordability established an entirely new class of sporty cars, and it has led the segment ever since.

In the last 49 years over 9.2 million Mustangs were produced and sold. From the racetrack to the silver screen to the airwaves to the toy box, this Ford model has become a prominent part of pop culture.

USAF-X-1-Ford-Mustang-GT-THUMBWhat would you think will happen when a talented tuning company joins forces with United States Air Force? I didn’t believe such union was possible, until I’ve seen the breathtaking USAF X-1 Ford Mustang GT by Galpin Auto Sports.

Yes, GAS and USAF have gathered together in order to produce something never seen before – a muscle car which has a jet-plane interior. This is in fact a modification which is worthy of acting in a movie like, isn’t it?

The ultra hi-tech USAF X1 Ford Mustang GT is destined to be even more than a super car. Just take a look at the images below and you’ll be reassured for yourself. The jet cockpit here includes single-driver ejection seat, short shifter and flight stick.

The dash on the other hand features a touch screen monitor displaying night and thermal vision. In addition, there is a concealed motorized steering wheel, custom food pedals, GPS transponder and GAS fabricated seats.

One is sure, when you enter the cockpit, you’ll definitely get the impression of a jet-like feeling. This means that the fellows from GAS have performed their work flawlessly. In short, the X-1 Mustang is a combination of form, function, and futuristic entertainment.

  • 2013 ROUSH Ford Mustang RS

ROUSH-RS-Ford-Mustang-thumb“Engineered on the track, refined for everyday” is what ROUSH say about their latest Ford Mustang RS. It’s a MY 2013 and the RS stands for “ROUSH Six”. The base platform used for it is the rather sensible 3.7-liter V6 Mustang.

We say sensible because the power still stands at the stock 305 hp which are good for 31 mpg of economy on the highway. It’s slightly unusual for ROUSH to not glue a giant, fuel guzzling supercharger. But where the Mustang lacks in boost, compensates in suspension engineering. Brembo brakes peeking out from 19-inch, directly lifted from the Ford Mustang GT, alloy wheels and ROUSH lowering springs which lower the center of gravity by around one inch.

As for visuals, the RS shares many features with the ROUSH Stage vehicles – high-flow upper and lower grilles, a front chin splitter, side rocker splitters and a trunk spoiler. The way to tell apart the RS is by looking at the fender “R” badge on either side and also at the “R” ROUSH faux gas cap. Optional components (not really needed) are the hood scoop, rear quarter window louvers and the RS exterior side and hood graphics.

Inside, the floor mats and center console have the markings of “ROUSH” the pedal box in the driver’s foot well is custom made. Available is also a black leather trim a suede wrapping for the steering wheel and a black or white shifter ball. Ambiently lit ROUSH door sill plates complement the whole exclusive look.

The standard 18” painted aluminum wheel on both GT and premium GT is an evolution of the five-spoke design. The 19” optional GT wheel comes with a gloss-black finish with machined face for a more sinister look.
