  • Ferrari California T to Get Handling Speciale (HS) Optional Pack

Ferrari California T HS Front ViewFerrari California T is a front-engined V8 cabrio with room for two and is now available with new Handling Speciale (HS) option. Ferrari has made this step in order to offer sportier driving experience to its customers and California T owners.

    The Handling Speciale (HS) Pack

To go into details, this option adds an extra edge, especially if one is driving in the manettino’s Sport mode. It includes new damper settings and modified springs (more than 16% stiffer than the outgoing model) for stiffer ride, sportier feedback, and throaty engine sound.

Changes affect the gear-shift operation too, which is now faster and sportier during both up- and down-shifts. Another highlight is the SCM3 magnetorheological dampers that result in sportier changes when driving in the Sport mode. In addition, the revised F1-Trac logic ensures better acceleration.

The California T HS package also features brand new exhaust system with silencers with two primary pipes, which also contribute for the better sound. By the way, the exhaust was developed in tandem with the engine and gearbox control software. As a result, this emphasizes the performance gains, the rapid response and improved sound and volume.

  • Ferrari Revealed the Stunning 2015 California T

2015 Ferrari Califrornia TAt the Auto Shanghai show Ferrari revealed the stunning California T model. The godlike beauty is crafted only for the Chinese auto show, just to demonstrate how Ferrari‘s “Tailor Mode” program allows customers to tweak a car just like they want. As you know, since the 1950s, the California model is  a symbol of elegance, beauty and sportiness.

The 2015 California T has something vintage in its look. The interior is rich on detail and even the smallest components are crafted with incredible precision. The seats are in reddish brown leather, influenced by the style of “former first family”, indeed the Kennedys. The waxed central console adds even more luxurious feel to the overall premium vehicle.

But the California T brings and some modern features. The matte grey details on the central console bring that sweet feel of high-tech vehicle, just as the Alcantara inserts in the seating. Even the floor mats are made of virgin woof from New Zealand.

The incredible combination of vintage and modern really makes the California T the best model for the Tailor Made program. This is the perfect example of what a motivated and highly skilled team can create: not just a vehicle, but a piece of art, that blends emotion, memories of past beauty and passion for the future events.

  • Ferrari California T Unveiled Ahead Of Geneva Debut

Ferrari-California-T-THUMBFerrari California was introduced 64 years ago – in 1950. Now the exclusive Italian brand is releasing another successor of the model – the Ferrari California T, which exudes elegance, sportiness, versatility and exclusivity.

California T boasts a refined cabin and retractable hard top (RHT). But the most striking and a brand new feature here is the engine, which is 8-cylinder turbo one. As a matter of fact, Ferrari’s engineers have designed an entirely new power unit, which produces not only excessive power, but also – the most exhilarating soundtrack any turbo has ever yielded.

Precisely, the engine features direct-injection, and is mounted very low in the chassis in a mid-front position. It delivers 560 hp (411 kW) at 7500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 755 Nm (557 lb-ft). These numbers speak only of exhilarating acceleration over the 0 to 100 km/h sprint, which the car covers in only 3.6 seconds.

Furthermore, the typical Ferrari engine sound was achieved through the utilization of special manufacturing techniques for essential components, such as the flat-plane crankshaft and the three-piece cast exhaust manifold and turbo housing. The result is a powerful, engaging sound during both the intake and exhaust phases, becoming even more potent as engine speed increases.

The sports dynamics are inherent to California T, due to the reduced steering wheel activity and improved steering response. There have been added new springs and latest-generation Magnaride dampers. When combined with body motion accelerometers, they reduce roll and pitch for more precise handling. California T is also equipped with F1-Trac traction control system as well as CCM3 carbon-ceramic braking system.

Of course, as a true Italian sports car, the model was given considerable attention in terms of design. The goal was to ensure that the California T has a new, individual personality. The shape of the California T’s flanks was inspired by the 250 Testa Rossa’s pontoon-fender styling; the front wing line of the model stretches back towards the rear, thus bringing an aerodynamic sleekness and movement to the sides. The rear on the other hand benefits from a new triple-fence diffuser. The model is currently being offered in two colors Rosso California and Blu California.

The cabin of the model was designed to be as ergonomic as possible. It sports a luxurious Frau semi-aniline leather trim, human-machine interface which encompasses Ferrari’s steering wheel with integrated controls, Turbo Performance Engineer (TPE) positioned between the two air vents in the centre of the dash. California T also boasts new infotainment system with 6.5” screen featuring both touch-screen and conventional controls.

Ferrari California T is going to have an official premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show in March.

  • Some of the most wanted and expensive collectible cars from the past

1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K ThumbHave you ever wondered which are some of the most desirable cars from the past? “Which models collectors are crazy for?” is the question asked here. And there goes the answer, including five of the most wanted and expensive cars made in the past.

The first car to be mentioned here is the 1931 Bentley 4 1/2-Liter model. This particular vehicle has only 49 similar to it, which means that there were only 50 ever produced. Hence, the immediate consequence is that the price of the model is very high. For example, sever years ago, such vehicle was sold for the amount of $ 4 510 000. In details, the car includes 2/3-passanger boat-tail body. Bentley 4½ Liter however, is a heavy car, with a total weight of 1 625 kg (3 580 lb). And although it included a manual transmission, one had to be very skillful to operate with the four gears, due to their unsynchronization. The engine contributed for the overall heavy weight of the model, because it was a heavy cast iron inline-four engine. The engine, modern for that particular period, included two double carburetors and dual ignition with Bosch magnetos. Thus it was possible for it to produce the impressive 130 hp (97 kW) at that time. Therefore, you can imagine how easy it was for this model to race in competitions.

Next comes the 1935 Dusenberg SJ model, which will surprise you in many ways. First of all, it has the whole 320 hp (239 kW)! Can you believe a car that fast in the 30’s of the last century? It included 3-Speed Manual transmission, but due to the heavy weight of 2 608 kg / 5 750 lbs, it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in more than 10 seconds. Secondly, there are only two vehicles of this particular model, built in the 1935. Another interesting fact about it is that one of them belonged to the famous actor Gary Cooper and the other – to Clark Gable. The model was equipped by two special carburetors and inlet ports of special shape named “ram’s horn”.

In 1937 the luxury brand came out with the Mercedes-Benz 540K model, which now is considered to be one of the most expensive Mercedes-Benz road-going cars. A model of it was a few years ago sold for the amount of $8 235 112. In the late 30’s this model was a development of the Mercedes SSK, and was offered not only as a two seater cabriolet, but also as a four seater coupé or seven seater limousine. The 540K has the unique for that time straight 8-cylinder engine increased to 5n401 cubic centimeters. It was aspirated by twin pressurized updraft carburetors. This made possible for the vehicle to develop 115 hp (86 kW). Moreover it included four-speed or five speed manual gearbox, which had synchromesh on the top three gears. The hydraulic brakes were also vacuum-assisted. What is interesting here, is that people such as Jack Warner (from the Warner Brothers) were owners of this model.

1955 Jaguar D Type is a factory-built race car, which has 3.8 liters engine. Beside the engines it includes some of the most important innovations achieved at this time of the 20th century. What I have in mind here are the use of disc brakes and the monocoque chassis. The latter was the first type of aircraft-style engineering which was featured in a race-car design. This special monocoque technology is made using some basic principles typical for it. First the cabin and the part where the driver sat, was made from alluminium allow sheets, to which was mounted an aluminium tubing subframe. The latter par carries the bonnet, the engine, the front suspension, and the steering assembly. Eventually the rear suspension and final drive were mounted straightly to the monocoque. Another innovation included in this model, is that the fuel was carried in deformable bags inside cells within the monocoque. As you can see, another aspect of this car is the highly aerodynamic body, which was stabilized through large vertical stabilizer mounted behind the head of the driver. This D Type from 1955 has in addition larger valves (than the models in the years before) which were accommodated through a cylinder head with asymmetrical design. D-Type served its purpose well, and won a lot of top places at racing competitions. At last, probably you know the iconic Jaguar E-Type. What you might miss here is that the D Type is the actual predecessor of the aforementioned icon.

I am sure you have already wondered where the Ferrari model in this article is. Well, here comes the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California, which is an evolution of the 250 GT Tour de France and includes 12-cylinders engine which achieves the whole 280 hp (209 kW) and has three carburetors. On this model were also introduced for the first time disc brakes. A replica of this particular model was also featured in the movie from the 1986 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. What is particularly interesting here is that few years ago a black Ferrari of the model was sold for nearly 11 million dollars.

  • A 7-year “Ferrari Geniune Maintenance” Programme

Ferrari is taking a huge risk with their special 7-year Genuine Maintenance programme. It covers all the scheduled maintenance for the first seven years, regardless of vehicle mileage. The programme offers services for all new Ferrari California, 458 Italia and FF models.

Furthermore, the Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme is transferable to a new client in the event of a change of vehicle ownership. It is designed to anticipate one annual service each year during the 7 years, but because of the no mileage restriction, clients who reach the service intervals by mileage, will be able to have their car serviced more than once per year. The service intervals are every 20 000km (12 500miles).

The Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme will be supplied as standard with all Ferrari California, 458 Italia and FF models delivered from 15 March 2011 and is only available through the official Ferrari service centre network. The programme ensures:

    • cars are maintained in accordance with Ferrari’s recommended schedule
    • safety and environmental standards are maintained thoughout the period
    • enhanced residual values for the original and subsequent owners

Such kind of service is unique and Ferrari will probably attract more clients of luxury supercars than their competitors.
