Jaguar Land Rover has announced three new product debuts that will happen at the Pebble Beach Automotive weekend – the company will present the new 550 horsepower (404 kW) Range Rover Sport SVR (global debut), the US version of the Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 and the prototype of the new Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, of which just six cars will be built.

All three vehicles are from Jaguar Land Rover’s newly created Special Operations division which, under the leadership of Managing Director, John Edwards, will focus on designing and engineering high specification vehicles, bespoke commissions, heritage products and branded goods.

Perhaps, the most interesting model of the three is the F-TYPE Project 7, which is an all-aluminum, fully road-legal, two-seated roadster that features bespoke carbon-fiber aerodynamic aids. F-TYPE Project 7 is based on the 2014 Jaguar F-TYPE and features a Jaguar D-type inspired fairing, as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the iconic Jaguar D-type. The all-new Jaguar F-TYPE Coupe will also be on display at the Monterey Jet Center as part of the Petersen Automotive Museum’s World’s Greatest Sports Coupes Exhibit.

This model is the most powerful and fastest production Jaguar ever built, and it is the first project of Jaguar Land Rover‘s newly established Special Operations division.

Its construction is all aluminum and also includes carbon-fiber aerodynamic aids, a unique suspension tuning and it with 80kg less in weight when in comparison to the concept model on which it is based. • Jaguar Reveals F-Type Project 7 Details With Video

Jaguar-F-TYPE-Project-7-THUMB2014 Jaguar F-Type Project 7 is a limited edition variant of the hugely popular F-Type sports car. It has already debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Furthermore, Jaguar has announced that the car will go into production run of 250 units. Project 7 is powered by 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine. It produces 575 hp (423 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. Given that the car weighs only 1585 kg, the acceleration time it achieves from 0 to 100 km/h is of 3.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically-limited at 186mph (300km/h).

We have just found an interesting video which shows a little more about the Jaguar F-Type Project 7. Thanks to XCAR Films we can take a look at how this car celebrates the D-Type and uses it as an inspiration.

In the video, Jaguar’s design director Ian Callum and the head of Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle’s Operations team, talk about the F-Type Project 7. An interesting fact is that this car is the first Jaguar performance vehicle delivered by the SVO team.

The car’s design and engineering was inspired by the three-time Le Mans winner – Jaguar D-Type. Unlike the concept model on which it is based it features an additional second seat. It also comes with two rollover hoops for both driver and passenger.

  • Jaguar Confirms F-TYPE Project 7 For Production

Jaguar-F-TYPE-Project-7-THUMB2014 Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 is the latest version of the highly acclaimed F-TYPE sports car range. It production version is going to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed tomorrow. This is the first Jaguar performance vehicle delivered by the Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operations team. An interesting and very exciting fact is that the car won’t stay in a “concept” form but it is readied for production. Of course, it will be an exclusive, limited-edition run of only 250 units.

F-TYPE Project 7 has a distinctive roadster body, which we have already seen in the concept on which the car is based: Jaguar Project 7 Concept Car. The exterior pays homage to the iconic three-time Le Mans winning D-type model. The latter is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. And the number “7” in car’s name pays tribute to the seven wins that the D-type has made at Le Mans.

Project 7 is the most focused, fastest and powerful production off an F-TYPE that Jaguar has ever built. It is powered by 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine, which delivers 575 hp (423 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. When these figures are combined with the fact that the aluminium-bodied car weighs just 1585kg, the result is an acceleration time of 3.9 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint. The top speed is electronically-limited and is of 186mph (300km/h).

The aforementioned horsepower is send to the rear wheels through an eight-speed Quickshift transmission and second generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD). Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brakes have been also fitted. The Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVbB) works in conjunction with the EAD and enables extremely precise handling.

Furthermore, there are also bespoke carbon-fibre aerodynamic elements as well as one-of-a-kind suspension. The result is extremely engaging driving experience. Other key design elements that can’t be seen in the concept include D-type-inspired fairing behind the driver’s head, shorter windshield, new front bumper, carbon-fibre front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and adjustable rear spoiler.

Unlike the concept, which is a single-seater, the F-TYPE Project 7 has been transformed into a two-seater and comes with rollover hoops for both driver and passenger.
