  • A special 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 is offered from Richard Hammond and The Smallest Cog team

1979 Ford Escort RS 2000 Mk2Classic Car Auctions offer a special 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2. This is an exceptional example and is supplied directly from Richard Hammon and his partners at “The Smallest Cog”. The vehicle was originally shipped to the UK, but then spent time in the Isle of Man before becoming a part of a collection in the Republic of Ireland.

Earlier this year, Richard and his team took the car to The London Classic Car Show before recommissioning.

Since then, the example has been recommissioned and prepared for this sale and recently was seen at the Hampton Court Concours D’Elegance where it received mainly positive feedback. The vehicle is recommissioned to exceptionally high standards and is presented in its vibrant Midnight Blue color.

Gary Dunne, CCA’s Sales Manager commented: We are absolutely delighted to once again be offering a spectacular car from Richard Hammond. Not only have The Smallest Cog team transformed the car but it will feature as part of the all-important original docuseries airing on the discovery+ UK later this year.

The recommissioning work includes new interior work done by the renowned Aldridge Trimmers as well as new front suspension and front/rear brakes – further details can be found on CCA’s condition report. The car is sensibly guided at £35,000 – 40,000.

Guangzhou Auto Show will happen later this month, where the visitors will witness the birth of the new Ford Escort. The car will be launched officially market on 20th of January next year and will be strictly distributed in China. Unfortunately, it looks almost like the previous generation, featuring the familiar front grille and typical Ford headlights.

Instead, we find the standard six airbags and a Connect Radio system and a small display on the center console. In terms of power, the Escort is driven by the 4-cylinder, 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol engine.

The unit produces 115 horsepower (85 kW) and 142 Nm (105 kW) of maximum torque, and is coupled with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The wheel base of the car is measured at 2687mm, while the overall size at 4587/1825/1490mm, for the length, width and height, respectively.

  • Wolf Ford Focus ST

WOLF has been attending to the brand with the blue emblem for 30 years as the most competent partner for sophisticated tuning, and it has accumulated an enormous wealth of experience during that time. WOLF’s involvement in racing since 1977 has played a big part in that.

Who doesn’t remember the feared Cosworth RS 500 versions of the Ford Sierra – lovingly called “Cossie” by its fans – with which WOLF RACING stirred up the DTM … and won? WOLF also caused a sensation in rally racing – Group N. And WOLF is still involved in racing today. All of the experience gathered from that flows into its street tuning program. Drivers of the current Ford Focus ST also benefit from that. (more…)
