  • All-new 2015 Ford Mustang in production now

    2015-Ford-Mustang_thumb2015-Ford-Mustang_651

Ford has announced that the all-new 2015 Mustang has begun production at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant in the United States. The new car will go on sale this fall in the United States and in more than 120 countries worldwide, marking the first time this vehicle is available around the world to fans of the Mustang brand.

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang comes with another first – this time the car will also have a right-hand-drive version too, which means that fans in the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa and other countries will be able to drive this beast of a car.

“Mustang is and will continue to be an automotive icon,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. “Expanding its availability globally affords our customers around the world the opportunity to have a true firsthand Mustang experience – one unlike any other.”

The Ford Mustang is a muscle car so a powerful engine is a must. Don’t worry – the 2015 Mustang will come to you with a powerful 5.0-liter V8 unit with an upgraded valvetrain, a new intake manifold and improved cylinder heads for total power output of 435 horsepower (320 kW) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque. In addition to that engine, customers will be able to choose between a 3.7-liter V6 unit and a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that brings state-of-the-art technologies to the new Mustang. For instance, this engine makes use of direct injection, variable cam timing and a twin-scroll turbocharger to deliver the power every Mustang fan expects – 310 horsepower (228 kW) and 320 lb-ft (434 Nm) of torque.

The new 2015 Ford Mustang also comes with a number of other improvements – the new vehicle now comes with all-new front and rear suspension systems. A new perimeter subframe up front helps stiffen the structure while reducing mass, providing a better foundation for more predictable wheel control that benefits handling, steering and ride. In the back you get an all-new integral-link independent suspension with specially tuned geometry springs, dampers and bushings for high-performance applications. New aluminum rear knuckles help reduce unsprung mass for improved ride and handling.

Back in April 2014 Ford celebrated 50 years since the launch of this iconic brand. In this time period the US car maker has sold more than 9.2 million Mustang cars. The Ford Mustang has also been featured in numerous movies, video and music games and more and is the most liked vehicle on Facebook with nearly 8 million likes.

No word on pricing of the new Mustang as of now but we are sure we will have more information later this year.

  • New Ford F-150 features advanced technology and more

    2015-Ford-F-150-front_thumb2015-Ford-F-150-front_651

Every new car model strives to bring the best features and the latest technologies to the market in order to shine when compared against the competition. You can easily see newer, more powerful and more fuel-efficient engines, better equipment, improved handling and a bunch of other smart things that make your life a bit easier and a bit more enjoyable.

The new 2015 Ford F-150 is no different. While most of the tech specs of the vehicle are already known, there are a few more that have remained in the shadow and Ford wants to draw some more attention to them to make the new vehicle more appealing. For example the famous US company is proud to announce that the 2015 Ford F-150 comes with a new seamless sliding rear window design – a first for the brand.

The new technology, designed by Magna International, is unique because it hides window seams, which sets a new trend for power sliders by improving looks and functionality; at the same time the new approach reduces components and manufacturing complexity. The overall result is a smooth opening when viewed from outside.

“Delivering the latest in innovation and technology to our customer is a top priority for Ford,” said Noah Mass, Ford body mechanisms manager. “The seamless sliding rear window is another great example of the intricate detail that goes into producing the next-generation F-150, setting it apart from any pickup on the market today.”

Standard sliding rear windows typically contain three pieces of glass – left and right panes that don’t move plus the sliding portion in the middle, all held together by a support structure that requires numerous components. The seamless sliding rear window uses only two pieces of glass – the exterior surround and the sliding portion, reducing build componentry and complexity. The window’s opening is the same size as the outgoing design. In addition to its streamlined looks, the window’s two-piece design enables continuous uninterrupted defrost capability for the larger surrounding glass.

Perhaps the best part of the new technology implementation is that the new design helps save weight, because the seamless power slider uses a lighter window control module. All this results in lower fuel consumption, better acceleration, shorter stops, improved towing capacity and much more.

“We designed the seamless sliding rear window to deliver not only a new look and improved functionality, but also to start a trend in the truck sliding window market,” said Troy Tooker, design engineering manager for Magna International. “With pickup sliders being one of our core products, we wanted to show our leadership and raise the bar on the new F-150.”

Ford is also proud to announce that the new 2015 Ford F-150 is the company’s most capable, smartest and toughest F-150 ever. The vehicle uses more high-strength steel than ever and the military-grade aluminum used in the F-150 body improves dent and ding resistance and saves weight. In addition to that when the new F-150 arrives in stores it will have endured more than 10 million miles (16 million kilometers) of torture testing.

The new vehicle is based on a number of engines that includes an all-new 2.7-liter Ecoboost engine, another 3.5-liter Ecoboost engine, an all-new normally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 and an improved 5.0-liter V8 unit.

  • 2015 Ford Expedition comes with EcoBoost engine, advanced technology

Ford Motor Company has announced the 2015 Ford Expedition full-size utility vehicle for everyone that wants capability, class-leading maximum cargo space in the extended length version and the latest automotive technologies.

Ford has something to boast with – the car company says that the 2015 Ford Exhibition is the most powerful and fuel-efficient Expedition ever with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and a SelectShift six-speed transmission under the hood. The vehicle also comes with some advanced technologies that include electric power-assisted steering, a Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, SYNC with available MyFord Touch, and continuously controlled damping to give drivers control of ride performance.

“Customers still have a need for a traditional full-size utility vehicle and the new 2015 Expedition delivers what those customers are looking for,” said Keith Wilson, Expedition marketing manager. “These are Ford’s more affluent customers who won’t compromise – they want space, performance, comfort and capability all in one impressive package.”

The new 2015 Ford Expedition comes with numerous improvements, one of which includes increased engine torque, better fuel efficiency, an independent rear suspension and more. The 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine will be the only one to be offered in North America. The unit will deliver 365 HP (268 kW) and 420 lb-ft (567 Nm) of torque. The machine is also capable of towing up to 9200 pounds (4177 kilograms) – a fact that will make the 2015 Ford Expedition a useful vehicle for many people under many circumstances. The new 2015 Ford Expedition will also be the first Ford nameplate to offer a continuously controlled damping suspension that allows drivers to select among three drive modes – comfort, normal and sport. Thanks to 46 integrated sensors the continuously controlled damping technology analyzes the weight of the vehicle, steering feedback and road undulations and reacts accordingly to help control wheel and body motions so passengers experience an orderly, comfortable ride.

The list of improvements continues with Ford’s new and innovative electric power-assisted steering that gives drivers improved maneuverability at low speeds and better feel at high speeds while at the same time saving fuel. Customers will enjoy unprecedented levels of quietness thanks to a host of changes that include improved seals on the body and reduced air leaks by 20 per cent. New sound dampening material in the cabin pillars also improves quietness. The center console also makes use of this material for even lower levels of unwanted road and engine noise. The interior noise gets reduced too thanks to the usage of acoustic glass in the windshield.

The new 2015 Ford Expedition will be offered in four versions – XLT, Limited, Ranch and Platinum and King Ranch. This means customers can select from the sporty XLT; the confident, elegant Limited; the sophisticated, urban Platinum; or the rural, rugged King Ranch. Each series has unique finishes specially selected to reflect the lifestyle and desires of the customer. For example, Expedition Limited features refined yet traditional finishes, while Platinum colors and material finishes are fresh and sophisticated.

The 2015 Ford Expedition will be commercially available later this year. No word on pricing as of now.

  • 2014 Engine of the Year – Results [images]

Ford managed to scoop the International Engine of the Year Award for third consecutive time. The “star” is again the three-cylinder 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine which was recently updated. It now produces 140HP (103 kW) and is able to accelerate the new Fiesta from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds. The engine is also super-economical – 4.5 liters / 100 km (52.3 mpg US or 62.8 mpg UK) on combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.

The engine managed to gather 351 points from the jury putting it on 1st place. The 2nd place is for Ferrari’s 4.5 liter V8 with 281 points and 3rd for Volkswagen’s 1.4 liter TSI – 254 points. Of course, the 1.0 liter EcoBoost won the sub 1.0 liter category with 505 points.

    • 2014 Ford Fiesta Red and Black Editions – 1.0 liter EcoBoost

Ford has presented the Red and Black Editions for the new Fiesta coming with a more powerful and efficient 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine than ever. Both models will be available to order now and first deliveries will commence in September.

“These two new Fiestas make an unquestionably bold statement on the road and will give drivers an equally distinctive experience behind the wheel with a sportier version of our 1.0-litre EcoBoost and enhancements to the Fiesta’s acclaimed ride and handling,” commented Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.

The 3-door models come with front upper and lower grille surrounds, front bumper aerofoil and mirror caps in contrasting colours. There is also a set of 16” Panther Black alloy wheels or optional 17” set. The body kit includes front and rear sports bumpers, side skirts and rear roof spoiler; and the contrasting colour roof on both models has been painted to achieve a consistent and higher quality gloss finish than can be achieved using a foil applique or sticker.

The interior boasts gloss black centre stack and door handles; black leather sports steering wheel and gear lever gaiter with red stitching; black floor mats with red stitching; and charcoal  black sport seats in Ultimate material with contrasting red stitching and bolster exteriors.

The most important is the updated 1.0 liter EcoBoost three-cylinder – 140HP (103 kW). The result is thanks the a unique calibration with new settings for turbocharger boost control, valve-timings, intercooler and throttle management. 0-100 km/h in 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 201 km/h (125 mph). The fuel consumption is just 4.5 liters / 100 km (52.3 mpg US or 62.8 mpg UK) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 104 g/km.

Although that that the manufacturer claims the 1.0 liter EcoBoost has more power per litre than Ferrari 458 Speciale, that’s not quite accurate, because the Italian supercar has a naturally aspirated engine. So, the comparison is pretty irrelevant. However, the small three-cylinder power unit actually has more power per liter than the normal Veyron, but not the Grand Sport model.

    • Volkswagen Taigun First Time in Asia

Volkswagen-Taigun-Concept-shadowVolkswagen-Taigun-Concept-medium-1Today the Auto Expo 2014 in New Delhi kicked off and here’s what’s hot: The Volkswagen Taigun – ever so close to production – is making its Asian premier. This time, however, beside being rather orange, it has a new backside with an exterior-mounted spare wheel. Apparently, that was the feedback the company received ever since the Taigun made its world debut at Sao Paulo. How do you get customer feedback on a concept vehicle?

Just a quick reminder: the Taigun is a compact-SUV (sigh) concept that carries Volkswagen’s 3-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI engine: a blatant take on Ford’s EcoBoost range. It develops 110hp at 5000 rpm and has an average fuel consumption of 4.7 l/100km. Probably, the fact that the Taigun is really, really small helps.

How small is it? 3,859 mm long without the spare wheel, 1,728 mm wide and 1,570 mm high. Still, it has a relatively big wheelbase at 2,470 mm (the front and rear overhangs stretch out 708 mm and 681 mm respectively). Total weight: just bellow a ton.

The new rear end, as we said, boasts a mounted spare wheel. By the way, all five wheels measure at 17-inches and have 205/50 R17 tires on them. Hinged on the driver’s side, the boot lid, which holds the mounts, swinges outwards when opened (the handle is cleverly integrated into the right taillight). The rear window, with the roof spoiler integrated above it, opens independently outwards. Both ends of the underbody make use of a rugged metal protection panel.

Inside, the Taigun offers as much cargo space as it can. With no modifications whatsoever, you get 280 liters of boot to spare. Fold the rear seats and that number grows to 996 liters. There are also storage compartments in the tailgate.

It’s a simple, convenient, and easy-to-use everyday car that still holds some off-roading merit. Let’s see how they come along with the actual production of it.

    • Radical RXC and RXC Turbo – Street Legal in the US [video]

Radical RXC and RXC Turbo are approved for street-legal use in the United States. Both sports cars look more like track-only models, but they meet all requirements for everyday use.

      Radical RXC is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 – 380HP (283 kW) and 433Nm (320 lb-ft) of torque. The RXC Turbo comes with a 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 – 460HP (338 kW) and 678Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 298 km/h (185 mph).

The British manufacturer has been working with American RXC owner Jeffrey Cheng to get the car approved. The task is extremely difficult, especially with low-volume British sportscars. Still, they succeeded, where others have failed.

Radical RXC complies with all regulations for both Europe and worldwide in all key criteria areas – visibility, crash safety, noise and emissions.
