Citroen’s sub-brand DS is currently releasing the DS5 model, which stands atop of the range of vehicles with its luxury styling and range of advanced technologies. Of course, it is an embodiment of all the attributes of present and future DS vehicles. The flagship model has unique features like the sculpted, vertical grille with the DS monogram in the centre, the Xenon Full LED headlights, a new touch drive interface as well as a new range of high-performance engines.
The “avant-garde” design of the car has the characteristic key features of the sub-brand. Here is the vertical grille with the DS Wings’ signature, which extends as two shafts of light into the new headlamp design. Regarding the headlights, they combine LED and Xenon technologies, along with scrolling indicators.
Inside, the designers opted for an aerospace-inspired theme. One of the most characteristic features is the roof with its three light wells. There is also a new touch-drive interface with simplified ergonomic design and new connected services like the Mirror Screen technology. This function lets users copy smartphone content onto the screen and ensures all relevant apps can be used safely when driving.
Safety is ensured by the standard blind spot monitoring system, which joins the lane departure warning function, automatic high beam control, turning headlights that work with the static cornering lighting to optimize illumination, hill-start assist, stability control, intelligent traction control, a reversing camera and a head-up display.
There are a total of six efficient engines and gearbox combinations offered for the DS5. Their power range is from 120 to 210hp, while the torque range is between 240 and 400Nm. In addition the CO2 they emit is measured between 74.3mpg and 65.7mpg. For instance, the new DS 5 Hybrid 4×4 unit delivers sub-100g/km of CO2 and over 80mpg on a combined cycle. The engine range will be extended at the end of 2015 with a new 210 hp powerplant – the THP 210 S&S mated to a six-speed manual.
DS 5 will have its world premiere at 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The new model is scheduled to arrive in showrooms in July this year.
Citroen is going to exhibit the DS5 LS-R Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. This will be the most powerful car in brand’s line-up. It comes with uprated four-cylinder engine and some nice goodies like big wheels, improved suspension and brakes. The DS5 LS-R concept car emphasises the dynamic character of the production version, highlighting the model’s athletic lines.
The 1.6 liter turbocharged engine now has 300HP (224 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Nothing is mentioned about the performance, but it will accelerate 0-100 km/h in around 6 seconds and the top speed is going to be 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. The engine is connected to a sequential gearbox featuring steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Other highlights include lowered ride height by 1 5 mm and reworked suspension, brake system and chassis in order to handle the additional power. The exterior boasts a number of carbon fiber elements. There is also a nice Carmine Red paint finish and carbon-colored 20” alloy wheels fitted with ultra-low profile tires.
The interior features full leather and Alcantara upholstery, performance front seats, a lot of carbon fiber and Carmine Red inserts. The dashboard, seats, central armrest and upper door panels have received pearl top-stitching in Carmine Red.
The unveiling of DS 5LS R follows on from the DS3 Cabrio Racing and DS4 Racing concepts, as Citroën continues to push boundaries in performance, design and innovation.
The Beijing Motor Show takes place at the China International Exhibition Centre from April 20th to 29th.
2012 Citroen DS5 Hybrid4 is now more efficient than ever before. The engineers from the popular French brand have made him environmentally considerate and thus appealing even more to customers.
As a matter of fact, all three Hybrid4 200 Airdream EGS6 models in the DS5 range have received technical updates so that they can now deliver CO2 emissions from just 91g/km. In addition, this decrease in CO2 emission goes hand-in-hand with improved fuel economy.
To go further into details, the enhanced fuel efficiency is due to new management software. The latter was developed for the full-hybrid diesel powertrain with a number of technical improvements so that now this Citroen model has optimized efficiency.
Here some important enhancements include improved energy recovery when decelerating and braking, and a new battery management system. This makes the newly re-homologated DS5 Hybrid4 drivetrain reducing the official CO2 emissions for the DSign model from 99g/km to 91g/km (BIK tax band 10%).
Moreover, DStyle and DSport versions see their emissions reduce from 107g/km to 102g/km, with a BIK band change from 12% to 11%. Another feature, which reduces the emissions, is the 17-inch ‘Houston’ alloy wheels.
They are available as a no-cost option on Hybrid4 DStyle and DSport versions. The wheels have smaller diameter thus reducing the cars’ CO2 emissions from 102g/km to 91g/km – the same as the entry-level DSign (giving a further BIK reduction from 11% to 10%).
The award winning 2012 Citroën DS5 has just gone on sale in all UK dealerships. Its price ranges from £22 400 to £32 200 for the exceptional DSport Hybrid4 variant.
The new DS5 has all the qualities that a customer would like their car to have. It is bold, and has a modern styling with a luxurious aviation-inspired interior featuring. DS5’s a cockpit roof and pilot-style cabin makes it even more futuristic than ever before.
Moreover, it is a mixture of compactness and agility, spaciousness and versatility. The new 2012 Citroen DS5 has to offer five doors, five full-size seats and up to 465-litres of boot space. In addition, the brand’s designers have included in this model keyless access & start, smart beams, a colour head-up display and a new Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).
Furthermore, Citroen DS5 will be available with a choice of four refined and efficient Euro V engines. Namely, they are THP 200, e-HDi 110, HDi 160 and the new 200hp diesel electric Hybrid4.
A highlight here is that this is the first production Citroen which is equipped with diesel hybrid technology, and carries the name 2012 Citroen DS5 Hybrid4. They will deliver outstanding performance, low CO2 emissions from just 99g/km and savings of up to 35% during urban driving. Undoubtedly, this will make any customer more than satisfied.
2012 Citroen DS5 is now available on the UK market. It is priced from £22 400 for the entry level Dsign e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 and the top-of-range model DSport Hybrid4 200 Airdream EGS6 costs £32 200.

There are a lot of technologies in the 2012 DS5 including:
Keyless Access & Start, which uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) technology to allow drivers to unlock and start/stop DS5 whilst keeping the electronic key separate.
A colour head-up display, which projects essential driving information (speed, speed limiter and cruise control settings and navigation settings) in the driver’s direct line of sight. On Hybrid4 models, the display changes from white to blue during ZEV mode.
A reversing camera that sends a colour image of the car’s rear view to the navigation display screen.
A driver’s seat with electric lumbar adjustment and massage function.
Dual-zone automatic air conditioning with three air flow levels (soft, medium, intense).

Citroen DS Line (2012)
In the mean time, rally driver Sebastien Loeb who has been racing Citroens since 2001 and is the only driver in the world with eight consecutive World Rally Championship titles was honored by the Festival’s jury. Because of him, Citroen has enjoyed much success as a manufacturer of rally cars (seven titles to be exact). This year is looking good too, as he has already sealed a victory at Monte Carlo, the first rally of the new season, which took place last weekend. That success story is the reason to honor Loeb’s exceptional sporting career by presenting him with a Palme d’Or (golden palm) award.
