Citroen will exhibit the new DS4 Electro Shot at the Geneva Motor Show.
The model is based on the DStyle trim package and features a gloss black roof and spoiler as well as 17” alloy wheels with black accents. There are also chrome-finished door mirrors giving more prominent look.
The interior boasts leather package, some metallic accents and Citroen’s infotainment system.
DS4 Electro Shot is the first Citroën to be produced by the new customisation workshop at the Mulhouse production site – a workshop run by body specialists to satisfy the expectations of DS customers looking for a unique, high-quality product with a high level of customised content.
Since the launch of the DS4 model line-up, Citroen has achieved great success by selling over 180 000 examples of it worldwide. At the Geneva Motor Show which will take place in the beginning of March, Citroen will reveal for the first time a new model of the DS4, namely – the 2012 DS4 Racing Concept.
The concept vehicle features “100% Racing” attributes. For instance, the chassis is 35 mm lower than the regular model and track is 55 mm wider at the front and 75 mm wider at the back. Additional elements are the air diffuser, a front bumper panel, a lower-body belt line and wing extensions, which give the car even sportier look.
Citroen Racing has tweaked the 1.6-litre turbo engine to develop 256 bhp (188 kW), or 160 bhp per litre – a record for a series-production car. This exciting performance comes hand in hand with controlled CO2 emissions of 155 g/km. Furthermore, other modifications and redevelopments have been made on the running gear with the utmost precision.
The concept car is equipped with four-pot, fixed calliper brakes at the front, with special discs widened to 380 mm in diameter, and shod with larger, 19-inch wheels (235/40). Another unique feature of the Citroen DS4 Racing Concept is its matte grey, textured-effect paint, which by the way is the first of the sort in the automotive sector.
What is so specific about it is that the grain of the paint catches the light differently and further enhances the body styling, while the color stays modern and robust – in other words: ideally suited to a sports vehicle. At last, to refine the exterior outlook, the concept car gets a two-tone roof and specially-designed, two-tone wheel rims.
2012 Citroen DS5 is now available on the UK market. It is priced from £22 400 for the entry level Dsign e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 and the top-of-range model DSport Hybrid4 200 Airdream EGS6 costs £32 200.
The car is inspired by the striking C-SportLounge concept car and completes the current DS line. An instantly recognisable range, the DS line appeals to both the emotional and rational decision-making process of today’s car buyer. All three models in the premium DS line offer creative design, outstanding quality and desirable technology.
2012 DS5 measures 4.53m length, 1.85m width and 1.51m height, the five-door layout offers five full-size premium seats and a generous boot volume of up to 465-litres VDA.
There are a lot of technologies in the 2012 DS5 including:
Keyless Access & Start, which uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFI) technology to allow drivers to unlock and start/stop DS5 whilst keeping the electronic key separate.
A colour head-up display, which projects essential driving information (speed, speed limiter and cruise control settings and navigation settings) in the driver’s direct line of sight. On Hybrid4 models, the display changes from white to blue during ZEV mode.
A reversing camera that sends a colour image of the car’s rear view to the navigation display screen.
A driver’s seat with electric lumbar adjustment and massage function.
Dual-zone automatic air conditioning with three air flow levels (soft, medium, intense).
An advanced programmable speed limiter and cruise control system.
A new Lane Departure Warning System, which uses an integrated camera to recognise the lines on the road and warns drivers of involuntary lane departure.
Smart beams that process images from the built in camera to trigger automatic activation and de-activation of the high beam lamps according to lighting and surrounding traffic conditions.
New DS5 boasts a comprehensive range of audio and telematics equipment, including USB and Bluetooth® connectivity. Citroën’s latest-generation in-car eMyWay navigation comes as standard on level 2 DStyle models. The integrated system features a high-resolution 7-inch colour widescreen, internal memory for map data, speed limit sign reminders and Bluetooth® hands-free and audio streaming for listening to music files stored on mobile phones.
DS5’s audio system features ARKAMYS acoustic processing for authentic sound playback. An optional premium 10-speaker DENON Hi-Fi has also been developed for an even richer soundscape within the cabin.
2012 Citroen DS5 Interior
DS5 is available from launch with a choice of four refined and efficient Euro V engines – THP 200, e-HDi 110, HDi 160 and the new 200BHP diesel electric Hybrid4.
The e-HDi 110 Airdream features new-generation Stop & Start micro-hybrid technology that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 15% when driving in congested urban areas. The turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine, co-developed with BMW, delivers enjoyable power and performance.
All powerplants are mated to either manual, automatic or EGS 6-speed gearboxes.
HYBRID4
DS5 is the first Citroen fitted with Hybrid4 technology. What is more, it is the first hybrid using diesel engine as main power unit, instead of a petrol one.
Hybrid4 combines several technologies including:
A refined 2.0HDi 160 diesel engine delivering 163bhp
A permanent-magnet synchronous 27kW (37bhp) electric motor fitted on the rear axle
A Power Train Management Unit, automatically managing the operating modes of the diesel engine and electric motor to achieve the best possible fuel economy
A Stop & Start system with a second-generation reversible alternator
An automated manual 6-speed gearbox with optimised shifts
Four different operating modes:
AUTO – Activated by default on start up, the Auto mode optimises fuel consumption by automatically switching between the diesel engine and the electric motor. ZEV – For speeds up to 60km/h (37mph), the Zero Emissions Vehicle mode enables the car to be driven using the electric motor only. SPORT – This mode uses the electric motor in tandem with the diesel engine to provide extra power when the driver requires more responsive acceleration. 4WD – On rough ground or in low-grip conditions, the 4WD mode increases traction delivering power through all four wheels. The front wheels are powered by the diesel engine, the rear wheels by the electric motor.
New Citroen DS5 achieves a maximum 5-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP tests, including an impressive 97% score in the Safety Assist category.
ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) & Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA)
Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with traction control and hill start assist
Driver’s, front passenger’s, front lateral as well as front and rear curtain airbags
A cornering light function that increases visibility by up to 75° when turning
Citroën’s award-winning eTouch Emergency & Assistance system, which automatically or manually makes geo-localised emergency or assistance calls using a built-in SIM card, for rapid intervention in the event of an accident or if the car is immobilised

The Citroen DS is still young and ripe but already it has set on maturing into a hefty lineup : the DS3, DS4 and DS5. Unlike the standard range, the DS line with its bold design and bonkers features is for people with the driving enthusiasm of teenagers or lunatics. The Citroen DS5 is the latest addition to the line-up and the first one to feature Full Hybrid Diesel technology with the Hybrid4 version. It will join an already successful market of DS vehicles with around 180 000 units sold and counting.
And know, the International Automobile Festival has decided that the DS needs some recognition so the Design Grand Prize is rightfully allocated to Citroen to honor the vigorous design team and the car marque as a whole. The award was presented to Jean-Pierre Ploué, Director of Styling for the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group on 25 January at the official ceremony marking the 27th International Automobile Festival.
Citroen DS Line (2012)
In the mean time, rally driver Sebastien Loeb who has been racing Citroens since 2001 and is the only driver in the world with eight consecutive World Rally Championship titles was honored by the Festival’s jury. Because of him, Citroen has enjoyed much success as a manufacturer of rally cars (seven titles to be exact). This year is looking good too, as he has already sealed a victory at Monte Carlo, the first rally of the new season, which took place last weekend. That success story is the reason to honor Loeb’s exceptional sporting career by presenting him with a Palme d’Or (golden palm) award.
Citroen created a true iconic car – DS3. The manufacturer has already taken over 100 000 orders for its multi-award winning small car. To celebrate this, Citroen will launch a bold new range of colour schemes and roof designs.
A vibrant Fuchsia Pink roof colour is at the heart of the new DS3 options list – available with matching pink door mirrors, wheel centre caps, dashboard fascia and gearlever knob. Customers can also choose a striking new Hickory Brown pearlescent body colour and two additional Spirit roof designs – Flower and Flavio.
Sales of the DS3 have blossomed since its launch early in 2010 and over 10 000 DS3’s have been sold in the UK alone.
The engine range includes two HDi diesels – with 90bhp and 110bhp. There are also three petrol engines – VTi 95, VTi 120 and THP 150 co-developed with BMW. They are fitted with either 5 or 6 speed manual gearboxes.
The electronic systems will take care about your safety – ABS, ESP, EBD and EBA come in standard with every Citroen DS3.
Citroen has introduced the new DS5, which will join the innovative and distinctive DS line-up. The vehicle is specially designed to express the full extent of Citroen’s „Créative Technologie”.
DS5 is based on the C-SportLounge concept. It features staggering style, awesome driving dynamics and perfect refinement with innovative engineering solutions.
Citroen DS5 is powered by „HYbrid4” diesel hybrid technology, which develops 200BHP and emits just 99 g/km of CO2. DS5 also offers four-wheel drive capability and emission-free electric power for the city.
The car features enormous air intake, a large chrome-finished grille and a new LED light. At the rear, there are two tail pipes built into the rear bumper and highlighted by a rear signature featuring six light guides. DS5 stands on 16” to 19” alloy wheels.
The interior boats ebony-coloured full-grain leather, contrasting subtly with silver-flecked overstitching. There are also decorative inserts in Markassa ebony and a highly reflective fascia, created by applying several layers of lacquer.|
