  • Jon Olsson with Rebellion R2K – Snow Drift [video]

    Betsafe has published a nice video on Youtube featuring Jon Olsson and his Rebellion R2K race car drifting in Storlien, Sweden. The spectacular footage was taken with the help of a helicopter and a number of HD cameras.

    “This crazy idea turned out to be one of the most exciting mornings that I have ever had. Pushing full gas while sliding sideways on the top of an empty mountain while the sun is just dipping over the horizon is just hard to beat!”, commented Mr. Olsson.

    He is preparing for the upcoming Gumball 3000 rally in June 2014 and obviously the training includes a lot of fun.

    The Rebellion R2k is based on the Ultima GTR. There is no much information about the street-legal race car, but it has a curb weight of around 1,000 kg and a 600HP (441 kW) engine powering the rear wheels through a sequential gearbox. The car is made almost entirely from carbon fiber. It comes with a Le Mans style body kit and rides on Ohlins ultra-performance coilover suspension. Last, but not least are the ADV1 alloy wheels fitted with performance tires.

    No data about 0-100 km/h and a top speed, but with that power and weight, it will be around 3.0 seconds or less and a top speed of over 322 km/h (200 mph).

  • Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – Drift [video]

    Chris Harris burned five sets of rear tires during the review of Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The supercar was mainly going sideways with a lot of smoke coming out from the rear tires.

    The F12 Berlinetta is a sensational sports car. It is powered by a 6.3 liter 65° naturally aspirated V12 engine – 740HP (544 kW) and 690Nm (509 lb-ft). 0-100 km/h – 3.1 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 8.5 seconds. The top speed is over 340 km/h (211 mph).

    The curb weight is just 1,525 kg. A new suspension and gearbox layout helps reduce the car’s rear volume. The result is fantastic with a weight distribution 46:54 (front-rear axle).

    The F12 Berlinetta is fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres – 255/35 ZR20 at the front and 315/35 ZR20 at the rear.

  • Behind the Smoke Two – Palm Beach Rain Drifting and Wrecking

    A great video with some nice drifts has been published on youtube by GTchannel.

    Daijiro Yoshihara suffered a devastating defeat at Formula Drift round 2 Atlanta. After that he flew to Malaysia to judge FD Asia, but now he is back in the US to take on round 3 Palm Beach.

    There are sour memories of Palm Beach from last year when he was knocked out at top 32 but this time around he can’t afford to miss the podium. Both first place JTP and second place Daigo Saito lead the overall standings and could leave Dai behind if he doesn’t perform well this round.

    He’s off to a rough start as it starts raining minutes before his qualifying run…

    Round 3 Palm Beach was very emotional and difficult for the racers, because of the rain. There were a lot of crashes, but still everybody are happy and satisfied.

    Behind the Smoke gives a look into the real life of 2011 Formula Drift champion, Daijiro Yoshihara.

    GTChannel’s cameras follow Dai throughout the 2012 FD season both on and off the track giving drifting fans an exclusive look into what it takes to compete in the top professional drifting series of N.America.
