Dodge dealerships are simplifying the process for 2022 Dodge Challenger buyers who wish to add a convertible top to the world’s quickest, fastest, and most powerful muscle car. They are now offering an expedited ordering process for third-party convertible modifications through Drop Top Customs, which is the oldest convertible coachbuilder in the United States. This new integrated transportation ordering process enables customers to place third-party orders and pick up finished vehicles through participating Dodge dealers.

Starting August 16, 2022, Dodge dealerships in the US will begin taking retail convertible transportation orders. This new third-party Challenger convertible fulfillment process was announced at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, during the first day of the three-day Dodge Speed Week event series, which showcased current Dodge muscle products.

According to Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand CEO – Stellantis, while Dodge is on the way to its new performance path, it is also commemorating decades of muscle car power by making it easier for Dodge Challenger customers to create a throwback convertible look. • How The Dodge Challenger Flexed Its Muscles

2017 Dodge Challenger SRTI parked next to a new Dodge Challenger the other day and I got out of my car and started looking at it. What a work of art. That Challenger looked intimidating just sitting between the two whit lines in its parking space and it wasn’t even running. I could sense the potential rumble of its engine though. I didn’t want to get to close in case it woke up and started to growl. After I spent about five minutes walking around the car and then another couple of minutes standing about ten feet away from it visualizing myself in the driver’s seat, I got back in my car and drove straight to Bodwell Chrysler, Jeep Dodge and asked for a test drive in the new 2017 Dodge Challenger.

The people there were so nice and very accommodating. One of the salesman immediately retrieved the keys to a beautiful yellow Challenger with black wheels that was on the front lot. We walked over to it and once again I was in awe and for a moment I headed over to the passenger side to get in. The salesman smiled and said, “You want to drive it, right?” I told that of course, I did and but in my mind I still couldn’t believe that I was actually going to drive this legendary muscle car.

I had always been thrilled with the “idea” of muscle cars and I never really considered owning one myself. It was always good enough just to watch the cars from a distance and to know that other people were having fun driving them. I just never believed that it was possible for me to actually own one and I couldn’t imagine myself ever backing out of the garage every single day in one of the great muscle car legends.

SEE ALSO: Meet the “John Lennon Phantom V” and see why it is still famous today!

When I started up the yellow Challenger I began to see that maybe…just maybe – it was possible to own one of these great cars myself. I drove it off the lot with the salesman sitting in the passenger seat. He kept pretty quiet as he could see that I was thoroughly enjoying myself in this power machine, which, by the way, was extremely comfortable and the driver seat and steering wheel fit like a glove.

Well, I’m sure you can guess what happened when we got back to the dealership. That’s right…when you see a yellow Challenger drive by or rather fly by you, please wave and say “Hi.”

  • Street Fight Mode: 707 HP Hellcat versus 850 HP Hennessey Hellcat [w/videos]

707 HP Hellcat vs 850 HP Hennessey Hellcat Street Fight YouTube Image

Hennessey shows the potential of its HPE850 Hellcat

It is clear that the stock Hellcat is a very cool muscle car. But it is also as plainly as anything that the modified Hennessey HPE850 Hellcat is better than any production version. But have you ever asked yourself, what exactly would happen between those two in a Street Fight. You don’t have to wonder anymore, because Hennessey Performance ha shot this amazing “Street Fight video”.

The Hellcat is probably one of the Seven Wonders in the automotive world. It looks great, has that muscle car stance and performance and it features attitude. Maybe, it is not everybody’s cup of tea, but hey, we live in a free world. And it is exactly what I like.

SEE ALSO: Hennessey Venom 800 Supercharged under dyno testing [w/video]

For those wanting more from their muscle car cat-beast, Hennessey Performance has produced the so called HPE850 Upgrade. As the name shows, it boosts the power of the 707hp Challenger to the potent 850 hp and this happens at 6,200 rpm.

    httpv://youtu.be/Z9BlC6l4S0Q

Here’s the boring information: the upgrade comprises of new ECU and upgraded tuning software. By the way, you can see the chassis dyno testing in the second video featured in this post. Going back to the point, the HPE850 also adds high flow air filter element, lower pulley upgrade that increases boost by 1-2 psi, port matched throttle body, Hennessey embroidered head rests for the interior as well as Hennessey and HPE850 exterior emblems. As usual, the performance company has featured serial numbers on the dash plaque and plaque in the engine compartment.

At last, we all know that the Hennessey Hellcat HPE850 was going to win. Maybe the point in this video was to show how much faster Hennessey’s variant is.

  • Better performance and styling offered by 2017 Charger Daytona and Challenger T/A

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona and Dodge Challenger T/A models

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona and Dodge Challenger T/A to spice up this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise

Dodge has just revealed the 2017 Challenger T/A and Charger Daytona muscle cars, and we are excited! Why? Because they offer more performance from their naturally aspirated HEMI V-8 engines, new exhaust, chassis and braking upgrades as well as performance styling improvements.

The new special editions are available with either a 6.4-liter “392” HEMI V-8 naturally aspirated 485-horsepower engine, or the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with up to 375 horsepower. What’s even better is that the production of both will begin this autumn and they will be available to order from September.

    2017 Dodge Challenger T/A Models

2017 Dodge Challenger T/A models lineup consists of three variants: Challenger T/A, Challenger T/A Plus and the Challenger T/A 392.

The first one is for those of you keen on classics, because it builds on the standard content of the 375-horsepower Challenger R/T model. Well, it adds a bit of functional performance hardware, like the new “Air Catcher” headlamps with LED-illuminated T/A logos, and the fantastic new 2.75-inch performance exhaust. The alloys come from Mopar, finished in Hyper Black II and sized at 20-inches.

SEE ALSO: Hennessey Venom 800 Supercharged under dyno testing [w/video]

If one wants more, then he or she can add the Super Track Pack for more goodies. Everything is kept very classic, from the Satin Black painted hood and Satin Black front fascia, roof and deck-lid graphic to the T/A bodyside stripes. Premium Black performance seats with signature Houndstooth cloth adorn the interior.

The Challenger T/A Plus adds over the standard equipment of the previous model goodies such as the heated and ventilated Nappa leather performance seats in Black with Tungsten accent stitching and embroidered “T/A” logo; the Uconnect 8.4 system; the Dodge Performance leather-wrapped steering wheel and the six premium speakers and 276-watt digital amplifier.

Challenger T/A 392 comes next and it delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque, making a mid 4-second 0-60 mph times and low 12-second quarter mile times. Being based on the previous model it adds equipment like the signature “T/A Air Catcher” headlamps; Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes with vented rotors; 20-inch alloys in Low Gloss Black fitted with P275/40ZR20 Pirellis.

    2017 Dodge Charger Daytona Models

This range comprises only of two cars: the Charger Daytona and the Charger Daytona 392.

Charger Daytona is powered by the 5.7-liter engine. It is based on the Charger R/T model, but features improved engine intake and exhaust with a Mopar cold-air induction system with conical air filter. The exhaust is the same as Challenger’s: 2.75-inch active performance exhaust system with 4-inch round tips. Here Dodge has also provided the Super Track Pack.

There are a lot of details in the new model year cars, but impressive are the 20-inch Mopar Hyper Black II alloys fitted to P245/45ZR20 Goodyear all-season performance tires. The signature “Daytona” badging is almost everywhere. The interior has those unique Black heated and ventilated Nappa leather performance seats with horizontal Alcantara suede plowthroughs with Brazen Gold accent stitching. Additional premium content includes driver’s seat memory and steering column with memory.

The Charger Daytona 392 on the other hand is driven by its 6.4-liter HEMI powertrain, producing 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque. Building on previous model’s standard content, this one adds ultra-high performance Brembo six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes with vented rotors, Mopar conical cold-air intake filter, 20-inch Low Gloss Black alloys fitted with P275/40ZR20 all-season Pirellis, and more.

  • The Hellcat is back with 900HP and more aggressive than ever!

Prior-Design Dodge Challenger Hellcat front and side viewPrior-Design is mostly famous for its exclusive tuning and aerodynamic kits as well as beautiful sets of wheels. We can hardly expect from these experts engine uprating or even something that can bring out more from the inherent power of car’s powerplant. However, the case with their latest project is actually the opposite and we have surprisingly found that Prior-Design can actually make things pretty cool!

The chosen car is the newest Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which impresses with its stock output numbers coming from its 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 unit. Precisely, it produces a maximum output of 707 horsepower (520 kW) and 880 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque, which is enough to enjoy hell-of-a-ride.

SEE ALSO: This Red Hot Dodge Challenger coming directly from… Hell

But… 707 hp seem not enough for many and this is why the performance of the Hellcat has been boosted up with additional 200 horsepower, making it up to over 900 hp (662 kW)! Sadly, we can’t tell how these extra horses were achieved because no official details were announced so far.

Prior-Design Dodge Challenger Hellcat side view

Besides the output uprating the car, the car received widened exterior via the addition of a PD900HC package. Thanks to it, the car achieve not only wider but more aggressive stance. Precisely, the aero kit comprises of an add-on spoiler for the front and rear, side skirts as well as trunk spoiler. The front and rear widenings have to be mentioned as well.

Contributing for the aggressive appearance are the bronze PD3Forged wheels as well. However, we do think that the chosen bronze color is rather… strange. Just for a comparison, the Canadian studio SR Auto Group has recently introduced their Hellcat based project, which we dig very, very much (click the link above for more info)! And we like the wheels, too!

  • This Red Hot Dodge Challenger coming directly from… Hell

Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat by SR Auto front viewIf the devil had a ride it would be most definitely this Dodge Challenger Hellcat. With its Red Hot exterior paint scheme and one-off tuning pack, this is the most badass vehicle we have seen for awhile. Four different names are involved in the making, precisely Liberty Walk, KW, PUR Wheels and the Canadian tuning masters at SR Auto Group.

The tough part of the work can be attributed to the experts at the SR Auto, who have designed and put together this incredible project. As you can see nothing subtle is going on here. This Hellcat literally turns heads and breaks necks! And although we have already seen two examples of the unique Liberty Walk Challenger, this one proves to be the best out of them.

SEE ALSO: Liberty Walk and SR Auto Unite for Monstrous Dodge Challenger Hellcat

The first thing that the talented tuners have done here was to fit the Liberty Walk kit on. If you wonder what it comprises of, it is pretty simple (but very expressive): front and rear flare, and a rear spoiler.

Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat by SR Auto wheels and Liberty Walk kit

From there they mounted a set of staggered twenty inch PUR LG06 wheels. They make the perfect harmony with the hellish exterior color of the Challenger with its matte black face and gloss DaVinci red step lip. As the experts say, “maintaining the whole red and black theme was a priority”. And it surely brings out great effect! The wheels were then shod with low-profile Michelins.

At last, but not least, the suspension which has brought the Dodge closer to the ground comprises of set of KW coilovers. Although we wanted to see a little bit engine tuning here, so that this Hellcat could perform even more devilish, the specialists have left the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 unit intact. This means that whoever is taking a ride in it will enjoy a maximum output of 707 horsepower (520 kW) and 880 Nm (650 lb.-ft.) of torque.

  • Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat Goes Green

Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat Front and Side ViewLiberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat might seem to you as a very common name if you follow our blog regularly. And it is common. We have seen a similar car a couple of months ago, which was the result of the joint work of Liberty Walk and SR Auto Group. Unlike the first white car, this example comes in toxic green exterior color and this and no other reason (like electric motor) makes the vehicle go green.

SEE ALSO: Liberty Walk and SR Auto Unite for Monstrous Dodge Challenger Hellcat

The pure raw American muscle car is basically another angry cat that has come out of SR Auto’s bag. The Canadian tuning specialists have given it a Liberty Walk wide body kit. And we must admit that it gives the Dodge menacing and fierce look.

Liberty Walk Dodge Challenger Hellcat Rear and Side view

Just like the white Hellcat, the widened body was supported by Airrex air suspension system, which lowers the height of the Challenger significantly. The lowered ride height and the wider body proportions just screamed that they need new wheels.

So, the expert heard that and decided to install a set of forged three-piece PUR LG05 wheels with a matte black diamond face and polished step lip. With a compressor in the trunk, the lines run through to all four corners to increase and decrease pressure. Oh, and have we mentioned that the wheels measure 20-inches?

But there is still one problem. We can not decide which car we like better: the white one or the green one? What’s your choice?

2016 Dodge Challenger Blacktop Front and Side View

    2015 HellcatX Dodge Challenger SRT

History tends to repeat itself in various forms and various manners. This happens in the car-manufacturing world quite often too. One model inherits something from its predecessor and follows the path of progression of the first-born. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat X is an example of such case where old automobile history reincarnates some of its aspect into a new automotive body.
