  • PEUGEOT has prepared for the Dakar challenge: here’s the new sand warrior!

2016 PEUGEOT 3008 DKR Wehave expected this one: Team Peugeot Total and Red Bull have proudly revealed the fresh PEUGEOT 3008 DKR. Heir of one of the most successful machines from previous championships, this confident beast has a lot to demonstrate. So, let’s waste no more time and see what the key features are!

First of all, the new Dakar warrior is based on a new PEUGEOT SUV vehicle, yet to be revealed and at the same time stays true to some of brand’s successful concept ideas. Racers will still be dealing with a two-wheel drive system and many more familiar stuff, but they will also meet some sweet changes and additions.

Going directly to the drivetrain system, we first see a revised 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbodiesel power unit that is especially created to deliver greater torque levels at low revs. What might disappoint some of the fans and enthusiasts is that there is also a smaller restrictor in the engine that results on a loss of 20horse power (14kW). However, the engineering team decided to make this sacrifice in the name of more torque at low revs.

Further tweaks have been made onto the suspension system. Definitely a key component for success in the Dakar challenge, the vehicle now offers the aid of exclusive fine-tuned system, revised geometry and some damper improvement. Sweet.

And there is also one more important upgrade. The air conditioning. Maybe some of you think that this is a tool for the whining princess wanna-be girls, but you are wrong. When a crew spends up to 12 hours a day in a vehicle’s cabin in temperatures that easily excess 60 degrees, good air conditioning system is not a fad, but a must. And they got one. Exclusive, revised and improved. Cool.

    2016 PEUGEOT 3008 DKR

Before the great Dakar challenge, Carloz Sainz himself will test the new PEUGEOT 3008 DKR against other competitors during Morocco’s Rally in October (3rd to 7th October).

We wish the very best of luck to PEUGEOT TEAM and we do hope that the team will have numerous occasions for celebrations!

  • Peugeot Reveals the Definitive Combat Livery of 2008 DKR

2015-Peugeot-2008-DKR-THUMBPeugeot has shown the 2015 Peugeot 2008 DKR livery which will compete in the Dakar rally in more than a month. The event will start on 4th of January. The car has traded its initial all-carbon finish for its official colour scheme and is fully prepared to take on its 4×4 rivals. The vehicle has a racier look based on a combination of blue, white and red. In fact, the part around the cockpit, which is white, is a perfect way to protect the people inside from the heat.

2008 DKR was revealed in April and it will be driven by Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres during the competition that starts on January 4. It is powered by a V6 twin-turbodiesel engine which produces 340 horsepower (254 kW).

Recently, Peugeot 2008 DKR has covered thousands of kilometres in Morocco, thus showing results of the test programme that reveal that the technical concept is well founded. Carlos Sainz stands fully behind the Peugeot 2008 DKR’s technical concept. He says that the concept works well and the test programme has shown a very fast machine.

There are only 48 days to go until the start of January’s Dakar. This actually means that the team is currently facing a busy final countdown. On November 20, the service trucks which carry the necessary equipment and spares will be loaded onto the ship that will take them to Argentina. What follows is the build of three rally cars and a final test in Morocco at the beginning of December.

McChip-DKR has unveiled their latest tuning project based on Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG. The name of the project is mc8xx and it includes styling and performance upgrades as well.

The 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 originally develops 457HP ((336 kW) and 600Nm (443 lb-ft). It is mated to a 7-speed SpeedShift MCT transmission. 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, which is a bit faster than BMW M3 and the fuel consumption is 12.0 L/100 km. After a complete supercharger system, the engine produces whopping 830HP (610 kW) and over 900Nm (667 lb-ft) of torque. The exterior boasts a complete wide body kit of the corresponding special model of Black Series. It includes aggressive front and rear bumpers, a new front hood, a pair of side skirts and several wings. • Peugeot 2008 DKR – Technical Specs

Peugeot 2008 DKR is going to compete in the world’s most tough motorsport challenge – 2015 Dakar Rally. A lot of obstacles await for the 2008 DKR – dunes, mountains, dry river beds, canyons, furnace-like temperatures, salt deserts, rough terrain, sand and many more. To tackle this tremendous challenge, Team Peugeot-Total has followed a very daring technical path.

“Much like we did at the Le Mans 24 Hours by electing to run a closed-cockpit car, we decided to adopt an innovative concept,” explained Peugeot Sport Director Bruno Famin.

“When it comes to cross-country rallying, the biggest question is whether to run with four-wheel-drive or just two. After a detailed study of the question, we decided to go for two-wheel drive transmission which presents a number of interesting benefits.”, he added.

This bold decision will enable the team to try to become the first to win the Dakar with two-wheel drive and diesel engine.

    Peugeot 2008 DKR is powered by a V6 twin-turbo diesel mid-rear engine – 340HP (250 kW).

“Fitting all of the vital assemblies into such a small space gave us quite a headache!”, admitted Technical project manager Jean-Christophe Pallier.

“Small cars tend to perform more comfortably over twisty WRC-type stages, so this arrangement increases the potential of two-wheel drive cars in situations where the 4x4s tend to have the edge.”, he added.

Beyond the conviction – expressed by Red Bull for the last two years – that two-wheel-drive vehicles possess attractive qualities that shine through even across the most inhospitable of terrains.

  • Peugeot 2008 DKR for 2015 Dakar Rally

Peugeot has unveiled the 2008 DKR Race Car, which will compete in the world’s most tough challenge – 2015 Dakar Rally. The extremely muscular vehicle will be driven by Carlos Sainz and Cyril Despres, who will defend the colours of Team Peugeot Total on next January’s Dakar.

The French manufacturer makes a return after 25 years with a 2008-based racer, which looks quite aggressive. It rolls enormous 37” (94 cm) off-road Michelin tires and has received a large rear wing while the rear doors were removed. There is also a short front overhang to allow a high approach angle.

Still there, are no further details except that the vehicle will have a two-wheel drive layout and all the necessary improvements to comply with Dakar’s regulations. The 2008 DKR’s breath-taking forms are sure to cause a stir even before the new car starts to kick up dust as it begins to be put through its paces in the colours of Red Bull and Total.

Peugeot 2008 DKR will be exhibited at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.

“We provided Peugeot’s Style Centre with a very precise brief,” commented the Project Leader at Peugeot Sport, Jean-Christophe Pailler.

“We supplied them with the basic key dimensions, as well as other information such as the cabin space we required, plus the wheel size and the suspension travel. They also had aerodynamic data resulting from our early simulation work.”, he added.
