  • 2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro VIN#001 Gathers Money for Charity at Barrett-Jackson

Chevrolet COPO Camaro Front View2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro, the Gen Six special SEMA edition race car by Chevy, is going to be auctioned this Friday at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. The gathered proceeds are going to benefit United Way, world’s largest privately-funded nonprofit organization. Its goals are to create community solutions that make everyone’s life better.

Important to mention is that Chevrolet will auction the COPO Camaro with production number 2016COPO001 (the first one that got out from the factory). We all know that the Camaro is a strong and powerful machine. But what differentiates this particular example from the others?

First, it is a powerful and purpose-built, and it is designed to race in NHRA Stock Eliminator class. It is modern and at the same time infuses legendary COPO performance with the lighter and stronger.

    Exterior & Interior Design

    Chevrolet COPO Camaro Rear View

On the outside the car features a Red Hot exterior color with Courtney Force-signature graphics. The grille is red-accented too. The signature slash marks can be seen towards the back on the car. The interior is defined by chrome-moly roll cage, lightweight racing bucket seats that carry the COPO logo and Courtney Force’s signature. Let’s not forget the five-point safety harnesses and a floor-mounted gear-shifter. To stay true to the competition spirit, the instrument panel features racing gauges and switch panel.

    Under the Hood

Speaking of the hood, it is made of carbon-fiber. Anyway, under it there is a 350 racing engine with a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger connected to a THM-350 automatic transmission.

Another benefit here is that every single COPO Camaro is hand-built. And if you have ever wondered what COPO means its stands for Central Office Production Order system. This system was used in the 60s by dealers who wanted to put high performance powertrains into production Camaros.

2016 Chevrolet COPO Camaro with serial number 001, lot number 3005, will be auctioned on Friday, January 29. How much money will it gather for the cause? Any guesses?

  • A Special Camaro for a Special Event

2015 Chevrolet COPO CamaroChevy is selling the first 2015 COPO Camaro sport vehicle to raise money for the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans (AFTW) campaign. The hand-built monster will be sold on Saturday, April, 18. The whole winning bid will be given to the non-profit organization AFTW, that helps disabled people to improve their physical abilities.

Chevrolet showed the 2015 COPO Camaro  last fall at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The incredible look includes the Abalone White exterior and the monstrous 350-cubic-inch LSX sport engine, that produces overall of 555 hp (408 kW). The powerplant works in full harmony with the especially designed three-speed automatic gearbox, that together bring incredible performance and system response.

Each COPO Camaro vehicle is hand built and is designed to take place at the NHRA Stock Eliminator drag race. Interesting fact is that “COPO” comes from Central Office Production Order, a process used in the 1960s for fleet managers, who order unusual combinations of technology gadgets.

  • Ford Auctions First 2015 Mustang GT For $300,000

2015-Ford-Mustang-GT-First-Unit-shadow2015-Ford-Mustang-GT-First-Unit-medium-1Last week we talked about the Barret-Jackson sale where the rights to buy the first production Camaro COPO for 2014 and the first Z/28 were auctioned off. However, there were even more production firsts that went under the hammer. Car collector and North Texas Ford dealer, Sam Pack signed a $300,000 check after placing a winning bid for the first retail production 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Yikes.

It’s not just money spent for bragging rights though. A part of the sum goes to the JDRF charity, a leading diabetes research organisation that has been endorsed from Ford since 1983. Mr Pack will also have the benefit to peruse the options list and customize the GT to his liking. He can choose any colour scheme he fancies for the inside and outside, and he can go with either a manual or an automatic. (fingers crossed for stick). Oh, and the design team will sign the car as an act of appreciation of the donation to JDRF.

The 2015 Ford Mustang brandishes a throaty V8 that turns out “more than” 420 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. It also doesn’t fall behind in terms of connectivity and ease of use. And by that we mean launch control – for that exquisite off-the-line start. A pony that actually doesn’t want to destroy it’s tires. Who would have thought?

  • Charity: Chevrolet Auctions Rights To First 2014 Camaro COPO And Z/28

Chevrolet-COPO-Camaro-shadowChevrolet-COPO-Camaro-mediumThere’s a certain prestige in owning the first of a limited range of production models. So how do companies look at the masses of potential buyers and choose one to break the mold. Chevrolet, have tackled this problem with an admirable solution. Those eager to own the 2014 No.1 production COPO Camaro, or the 0001 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, can participate in a charity auction to win the rights. Bids will be accepted at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale collector car auction or online

On Friday evening, gearheads with big hearts will be head to head in the race to have the first of 69 factory produced Chevrolet COPO Camaro vehicles. The highest bidder will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans. In return, he will be able to buy a one-off COPO in Ice Blue Metallic satin paint scheme. It features a new LS-based 350-cubic-inch engine with an amazing 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger.

On the next day – Sunday, 18th of January – the rights to purchase the first Camaro Z/28 will also be sold. The money raised will go to Detroit’s Cornerstone Schools. The Camaro Z/28 is famous for lapping the Nurburgring in 7:37.40 seconds – faster than a Murcielago LP640.

It has a 7.0 LS7 engine 505 hp and 652 Nm of torque. A close-ratio six-speed manual transmission is the only option. Power goes to the rear wheels via a Torsen limited-slip differential that employs helical gears rather than traditional clutch packs. The Camaro Z/28 is also one of the first production cars fitted with race-proven, spool-valve dampers, which allow four-way damping control, enabling engineers to precisely tune bump-and-rebound settings for high- and low-speed wheel motions. It arrives in dealerships in spring.

  • Chevrolet COPO Camaro 1/4 mile in 8.88 seconds [HD video]

People in USA know some things and especially how to create drag-racing vehicles. That’s why, Chevrolet has developed a special series vehicle – COPO Camaro, which is for drag-racing use. Of course, the vehicle can be run on the streets, but it is not recommended at all.

Chevrolet COPO Camaro is powered by a supercharged 5.3 liter V8 engine featuring 4.0 liter Whipple supercharger. Nothing is mentioned about the overall power, but the car managed to stop the clock at 8.88 seconds and ¼ mile run.

Chevrolet previously mentioned that the recently introduced COPO Camaro is capable of doing the ¼ mile run in less than 9 seconds, and now we have proof that it can do it.

The engine range features also a naturally-aspirated V8 7.0 liter power unit and a 5.3-liter V8 with a 2.9 liter supercharger. All three engines are mated to a Powerglide automatic gearbox that was specially developed for drag racing.

The vehicle is available with a choice of 5 colors – Ashen Grey Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic, Victory Red, Summit White and Flat Black. Chevy plans to create only 69 units this year, with prices starting from $89,000
