    2022 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport

Porsche has revealed the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The mid-engine race car from Weissach is based on the new, and recently revealed, 718 Cayman GT4 RS road car.

As with its road-going sibling, the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is equipped with a mighty 4.0 liter six-cylinder boxer engine. This high-revving power plant is taken directly from the 911 GT3 Cup race car and develops 500 hp in the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport – 75 hp more than the previous GT4 Clubsport model.

Fitted as standard is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK), replacing the GT4 Clubsport’s six-speed version. All gears feature shorter ratios than on the GT4 Clubsport.

The homologated 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is track-ready from the factory and can be used in SRO racing series around the world without further modifications. The starting price of the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which will be sold and distributed through Porsche Motorsport North America in the U.S., is $229,000, not including tax.

“We thrive on competition, and will always push for improvements,” said Volker Holzmeyer, President and CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America. “This is what our customer teams expect of us and what we demand of ourselves at Porsche. Acting on their feedback, we’ve made the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport more capable than ever. It’s quicker, even more rewarding and confidence inspiring to drive – exactly what drivers competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO series need to be successful.“

Porsche began offering the Cayman GT4 Clubsport of the 981 generation in 2016, entering into this new customer racing format early with a competitive car, and 421 units were built up to 2018. In 2019, the next generation model debuted based on the 718 Cayman GT4. It was also a success: Around 500 units have been produced to date. The strong demand for these vehicles is also due to the low running costs. The use of proven series production technology combined with racing-specific components reduces the cost for customer teams.

“The GT4 Clubsport has a special place in my heart,” adds Holzmeyer. “As I’ve been deeply involved with the car from the start, ever since it first began development. Therefore, it’s also a personal ambition for me to continuously improve it, to make it better and better.”

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport in detail

The 500 hp 4.0 liter six-cylinder boxer engine is taken directly from the current 911 GT3 Cup racing car and is 18 percent more powerful than the 3.8 liter engine used in the previous model – the 718 GT4 Clubsport. Thanks to an optimized air intake, maximum power is achieved at 8,300 rpm – 800 rpm higher than previously. The new engine can rev up to 9,000 rpm and develops 343 lb.-ft. at 6,000 rpm, while the previous engine generated 313 lb.-ft. at 6,600 rpm. The result is a much wider, more usable power band of the new engine, improving the drivability of the car for pro-racers as well as amateur drivers alike.

The suspension of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport was also extensively enhanced. The damper technology was revised from the ground up to offer an optimized responsiveness and a further improvement in body control, making a significant impact on track performance and handling. Two-way racing adjustable shock absorbers with further improved valve characteristics as well as adjustable double-blade anti-roll bars, front and rear, are among the updates. Ride height, camber and toe are also adjustable. Additionally, three different spring rates for front and rear axle are available. Special NACA ducts in the front lid feed air efficiently to the large race braking system with 380 mm multi-piece rotors that are vented and slotted. The Porsche Stability Management-System (PSM) is programmed specifically for the track and includes a switch for traction control, ABS and an updated stability control programming.

The aerodynamics of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport have also been enhanced in great detail. Front dive planes as well as an enlarged front spoiler lip increase downforce at the front axle. Fender vents inspired by the 911 GT3 R and special air curtains calm the air flow around the front wheels, while the enclosed underbody optimizes air flow to the diffusor at the rear of the car. The swan neck rear wing has been fitted with a 20 millimeter long Gurney flap and gains two further stages of adjustability.

The previous 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport was the first series production race car to use body panels made of sustainable natural fiber composites. This material is being used even more extensively on the new GT4 RS Clubsport. In addition to the doors and the rear wing, the front lid, fenders, aerodynamic components at the front and the steering wheel consist of this material. The use of this flax-based fiber as an alternative to carbon-fiber composite can be tested in racing for a potential future use in road cars. Porsche has been using motorsport as a test bed for technology, processes and materials potentially capable of being used in road cars for more than 70 years.

The 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is equipped to compete straight out of the box. This begins with the welded-in roll cage, as well as the longitudinally-adjustable Recaro racing seat, and extends to six-point harnesses with 2023 FIA standard, all the way to the fire extinguisher system and built-in air jack system with three jacks. The new foam on the driver’s side meets the international requirements of the SRO racing series. The FT3 fuel cell can accommodate up to 115 liters (30.4 gallons) of fuel, making it suitable for endurance racing. Additionally, Porsche offers two different exhaust systems, allowing the GT4 RS Clubsport to compete at tracks with stricter noise limits. Special Fitment preparations for homologated additional headlights or openings in the front lid for quick refueling allow a quick conversion to suit nighttime endurance racing.

  • The Reasons Behind the 450 Horsepower of this BMW M3 E90 by MR Car Design

MR Car Design BMW M3 E90 CLUBSPORT front viewWe haven’t heard about MR Car Design for a long time now. In fact it has been almost two years since we wrote about a project made by the tuners. It seems that during this time the ambitious car freaks did not stop the hard work. In fact their latest project looks fantastic and features exclusive changes to some vital parts.

Under the attention of the talented tuning company is the fourth generation BMW M3 E90. It was initially under a Clubsport transformation, and it was time for MR Car Design to do the engine software optimization.

    Software Optimization

After the software changes done to the engine, the result is 450 HP (331 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. The tops speed was also boosted and now reaches above 300 km/h (180 mph). In addition, the installed Evo exhaust system has significant part of the fulminate Performance of this M3. The new exhaust and all of the “surgical” changes on this BMW are all work of the Clubsport team.

    Exterior Changes

And have you spotted the huge 19-inch black rims, which were coated with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires in 245/35-19 on front and 265/35-19 on the rear axle. The tuners also installed spacer plates of 10 mm on the front and 15 mm on rear axle, KW Clubsport variant 2 coilovers with camber regulation combined with H&R stabilizer kit, and the yellow painted Stoptech braking system.

    Sportier Interior

2015 Holden ClubSport 25th Anniversary2015 Holden ClubSport R8 25th anniversary has finally comes with some more details. As you know, Australia’s leading vehicle manufacturer used the ClubSport name for the first time back in 1990 with the VN model, that offered a 5.0-liter engine, generating 244 hp (180 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. But for the 25 years of development the Holden ClubSport model went for a long road and now it is more powerful and more advanced than ever. So, let’s check out the 25th Anniversary model.

  • Audi TT Clubsport Debuts at Wörthersee

Audi has just released a video showing more of its Wörthersee concept – the TT clubsport turbo. Next to it, the company will also display some of the latest race cars, performance and production models. However, the highlight for Audi at this event is the TT clubsport turbo, which is a technical concept that combines a powerful TFSI engine with an electric biturbo.

As we told you earlier this week, the concept features wide add-on parts, rear wing and the capability of pushing out more than 600 horses, which equals to 441 kW. In addition, the car has been inspired by 80s show car, the 90 IMSA GTO.

SEE ALSO: Audi is About to Show Its Latest Concept Sports Vehicle

At the heart of this Audi TT is the 2.5 TFSI engine, producing 600 hp and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. In fact, more than 600 Nm of torque are available between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The power is transferred onto the road via a manual six-speed transmission.

    2015-Audi-TT-Concept-Interiro

When this power is combined with lightweight design (the car weighs only 1,396 kg), the result is simply marvelous: it can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 310 km/h.

Now take in mind all of the aforementioned data and mix it with the advantage of an electrically driven compressor. The result is that the car will cover 16 meters (52.5 ft) within the first 2.5 seconds. In comparison, without this addition the number will be minus six meters (19.7 ft).

Other data that should be said about this concept is that it rides on 20-inch alloys with six twin-spoke design in a two-color gloss turned finish and matt black look. The will be coupled with 275/30 tires, behind which we see carbon-fiber ceramic brake disks, measuring 370 mm (14.6 in) in diameter.

We did a lot of talking about this car and if you want to remind yourself some important details about it you can go back to the previously released article.

  • Audi is About to Show Its Latest Concept Sports Vehicle

With incredible additions, 2015 Audi TT Clubsport Turbo heads to the Austrian town of Reifnitz to demonstrate incredible power and design. With all its additions, incredible rear wing and power output of 600 hp (441 kW) the 2015 Audi concept vehicle truly deserves our attention.  In fact, the concept idea was born from the inspiration from the well-known Audi 90 IMSA GTO of the 1980s. But let us see what the latest Audi concept has to offer.

    Drivetrain system

The Audi TT Clubsport comes with five-cylinder 2.5 TFSI engine, that produces the incredible 600 hp (441 kW) and 650 Nm of torque.  This crushing force is precisely controlled with a manual six-speed transmission.

SEE ALSO: Audi Announces Details for 2016 Audi TT and TTS Models

The TT design is especially built with lightweight materials, which means, that the overall weight is just 1.396 kg (3.077 lb). It helps the vehicle to complete the 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) sprint in just 3.6 seconds and from that impressive start it can chase the top speed of 310 km/h (192 mph). But this is not all. When we talk about acceleration and top speed, Audi TT has a little secret for you. Audi TT Clubsport Turbo is especially crafted to take advantage on the start of the sprint. The engineer wonder of the electric compressor lets it run the first 16 meters in just 2.5 seconds. There isn’t any other vehicle, that can beat that achievement.

We mentioned the electric compressor. It offers a few advantages: it revs up the maximum rpm and boosts the charge pressure, when there is too little energy left in the exhaust gas for the turbocharger.  The result is noticeable. The 2.5 TFSI engine builds up its crushing power with almost no delay.

    Exterior

The sports car steps confidently on the road with its length of 4.33 meters and width of 1.97 meters. The fenders, panted in Ferro Titanium give that extra muscular vision. Other wonderful features include the Singleframe grille and the large air inlets.  And of course the beautiful and effective Matrix LED headlights – they do not just illuminate the path in front, but are especially designed to ensure maximum air throughput.

The manually adjusted wing marks the advanced development plans of Audi team. It redesigned to demonstrate a different geometry. It is built with carbon-fiber material, that brings not only functionality, but also comes with style.

    Interior

    2015-Audi-TT-Concept-Interiro

The cabin is reinforced with high-strength titanium tubes, that definitely ensure rigid and safe drive. In front, there are special lightweight race seats with four-point harnesses. The board comes with a display and operating system, that are especially built to ensure focused and safe drive.

Fresh, beautiful and innovative. This is the 2015 Audi TT Clubsport Turbo. Tell me what you think in the comment section below.

  • Manhart BMW MH3 V8RS Clubsport

Manhart Racing has revealed the most brutal E92 3-Series, which you can imagine. After the previous project – MH3 V8R with 655PS (482 kW), the tuning company is ready with the new one – the MH3 V8 RS Clubsport.

Firstly, the exterior is entirely modified in order to get maximum downforce. The aerodynamics package includes a front spoiler, modified hood, a pair of side skirts, wheel arch extensions, trunk li, an enormous adjustable rear wing and a rear diffuser. All parts are made from carbon fiber for maximum strength and lightness.

The look is completed by enormous the ultra-light Concave One “Black Edition” forged wheels 9J x 20” with 255/30 ZR20 Continental Sport Contact 5 high performance tires on the front and 12J x 20” with 325/25 ZR20 tires on the rear. The stance is further improved by adjustable coilover suspension.

The interior boasts new seats from carbon fiber and a Wiechers roll cage. There is also a Manhart Racing display showing all data that the pilot needs.

Manhart BMW MH3 V8RS Clubsport Display
Manhart BMW MH3 V8RS Clubsport Display

The E92 M3 received the brutal engine from BMW X5 M – a 4.4 liter twin-turbocharged petrol with 555PS (408 kW). Still, the tuners decided that this is not enough power for a small 3-Series car and boosted the monster to whopping 750PS (551 kW) and 910Nm (671 lb-ft) of torque. So , they made the car really hard to drive.  The engine is mated to a 6-speed M Sport automatic transmission sending all that power to a LSD from E60 M5. The weight of the car is 1590 kg (3505 lbs) meaning that it has power to weight ratio of 2.25 kg/hp.

    Performance – 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of more than 350 km/h (217 mph).

Manhart Racing also took care about the brakes. They have installed MOVIT brake system with 6-piston calipers on the front with 396×34 mm discs and 4-piston calipers with 380×32 mm discs on the rear.

Undeniably, Manhart Racing have built a unique sports car.

  • Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro

Audi will unveil A1 Clubsport Quattro at the 2011 Wörtherseetour in Reifnitz, Austria, which will take place from June 1st to 4th.

The time attack machine is powered by an upgraded 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbocharged petrol featuring direct-injection. The massive power is 503PS (370 kW) and 660Nm (486 lb-ft). The performance is outstanding – 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, to 200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. However, we have no doubts that A1 Clubsport will easily pass the 300 km/h barrier. 80 to 120 km/h in 4th gear takes 2.4 seconds.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which delivers the torque to all four wheels.

A1 Clubsports Quattro has a curb weight of 1390 kg (3064 lbs), so it won’t be fast only in straight line, but in the corners, too.

Furthermore,  A1 Clubsport Quattro comes with a full aerodynamics wide body kit. The width is increased will full 60 mm. There is also an adjustable coilover suspension.

The vehicle stands on enormous 19” alloy wheels fitted with ultra-performance 255/30 ZR19 tires.

The interior is very poor – bucket seats, a leather finish for the center console and a crossbar instead of rear seats. Still, this is an ultra-performance car, so it doesn’t need anything else.
