Honda Clarity lineup was given with the 2018 California Air Quality Award for Environmental Stewardship by the Coalition for Clean Air for providing drivers with incredibly low CO2 emissions and still offering some neat styling, comfort and performance features.
As you might know, this Coalition for Clean Air is a non-profit organization that focuses on researching and encouraging creation of contemporary technology that would be beneficial for both business and environment. And so far the organization has managed to persuade large number of people to get a Clarity machine – a total of 56 per cent from the sales of Clarity vehicles in 2018 have been made thanks to the California Air Quality organization.
As we have told you, the Clarity series, including Plug-in Hybrid, Clarity Fuel Cell and Clarity Electric models offer incredible performance to price ratio. All of them offer neat exterior body language with sporty features and elegant curves and spacious and comfortable interior that adopts the use of the latest technological gadgets and utilities. And of course, in terms of drivetrain system, all models in the Clarity family offer smooth, quiet and refined driving experience, mixed with environmentally healthy fuels and systems. Cool, right?

Overall, Honda’s idea is to share the so-called 3-in-1 platform strategy that enables Honda to respond to infrastructural and business changes and provide all that is necessary to customers at the same time. And as it seems, Honda team has managed to reach its goals so far. We do await brand’s next step with hopes and dreams!
Honda announced that the upcoming Clarity Fuel Cell will not be alone. There will be two additional models, the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, launching in 2017. The addition of two more vehicles will definitely enrich not only this particular lineup, but also the whole eco-friendly segment.
Following the launch of the Clarity Fuel Cell in late 2016, the Clarity Electric will be available for order in 2017. It is expected to be affordable, midsize five-seater with neat battery power and cutting-edge technology boasted. And the other one, the Plug-in Hybrid will be launched a bit later in 2017 and will try to set new benchmark for the whole segment with its all-electric driving power, driving range and hyper-efficient gasoline-hybrid power unit.
With its visually-appealing styling and spacious interior design, the Clarity series caught our eye with its premium appearance, environmentally-responsible system and of course, the overall feel of luxury and comfort. And let’s not forget the cutting-edge technologies, along with the advanced safety features.
Along with the 2017 Accord Hybrid that is expected to go on sale this spring, Honda team seeks to grow sales and models in the electrified vehicle segment. All the hybrids, plug-ins and battery-powered vehicles are becoming more and more important for the brand and as it seems, for the whole automobile world in general.
Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is company’s newest five-passenger, hydrogen-powered sedan. Honda has just announced it’s pricing and plans to lease it to customers in select California markets before the end of 2016. The hydrogen vehicle will have an expected starting price of around $60,000 USD. Those who are looking for a lease, will have to spare around $500 USD every month.
Furthermore, Honda announced that it will initially produce the car in low volumes. However, the company expects to move to retail sales with increased volumes and market coverage. The first deliveries are planned for the dealers in Los Angeles and Orange counties as well as the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento.
About Honda Clarity Fuel Cell
Clarity Fuel Cell features a lot of technology innovations. The most important example is the fuel cell stack that is 33 percent more compact than its predecessor. In addition, if we make a comparison to the outgoing Honda FCX Clarity, it has 60 percent in excess in power density.
The compact fuel cell and integrated powertrain can be also compared to the size of a V6 engine, because they now fit under the hood of the car. The result is more spacious cabin and room for five occupants.
Furthermore, the Clarity Fuel Cell has a driving range that other eco-cars can envy of. It has been estimated to exceed 300 miles. Even better, if one needs to refuel, the anticipated time is of approximately three to five minutes.
The design of the car is too impressive: it has low, wide aerodynamic body with clean character lines. Inside, the interior features refined and rich materials and contributes for a harmonious experience; the controls are intuitive and streamlined.
Other highlights here include Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistive technologies, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED exterior lighting and 18-inch aluminum alloys. Honda Clarity Fuel Cell will be offered in three exterior paint schemes: black, white and signature red.
2016 Honda Civic Coupe, or the tenth generation ecstatic Civic, and the Clarity Fuel Cell are going to make their North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto show next week. Both vehicles offer a new expression of valuable qualities such as ‘Clean, Safe and Fun’, and they are going to put a strong emphasis on them during the show.
10th Gen Civic Coupe
The Coupe is built over the same sports platform of the Civic, and its appearance at the event reminds customers that it is currently going on sale (starting today). By the way, you can already find it in dealerships. 2016 Civic Coupe delivers a glimpse of the future design language of the brand with its athletic lines, high-tech interior, and powerful as well as engaging powertrains. There are two new engines, including the first-ever turbocharged for the U.S. Civic.
Sporty performance is inevitable and so is the refined ride. But do not worry about the fuel efficiency, because Honda promises that it will be even lower than expected.
The Civic Coupe is the second of the 10th generation Civic models, including a sedan and Si models, a 5-door hatchback and the first-ever Civic Type-R. This fact makes the Civic lineup the most diverse and innovative one in model’s history.
Clarity Fuel Cell
Following a world debut at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show in October, Clarity Fuel Cell is a five-passenger sedan with great performance, range and efficiency. In fact, it is ‘world’s first production fuel cell sedan to house the entire fuel cell stack and drivetrain system in the front engine compartment’.
Why this vehicle is so important, especially in the U.S. The reason is that it houses original technologies, which lowers the carbon dioxide released in the atmosphere, since it hardly releases any. And how about the driving rage? It is more than enough, measuring 300 miles. Oh, have I told you that the refueling time is approximately three minutes?
Honda Clarity Fuel Cell will launch in the United States in 2016, but first it will be introduced in Japan in March. If you are interested in what you have read, then visit Honda’s booth, located in the West Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The show starts November 18.
Honda Clarity Fuel Cell Vehicle has been just unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show. Since Honda is the pioneer of hydrogen fuel cell technology, it was about time to make a step forward regarding this ‘eco’-matter. The next generation car previews best-in-class range comparable to fossil fuel-powered vehicles. The good news is that even though the model has just made its Japanese debut, it will be also distributed in selected European markets next year.
In short, the car incorporates company’s latest and most advanced technologies. As a matter of fact, this is world’s first production fuel cell powered sedan that houses entire fuel cell stack and drivetrain system instead of normal engine and transmission.
Furthermore, the Clarity Fuel Cell also has space for five persons, meaning that the size of the fuel cell stack and the power generation unit have been minimized via advanced technologies to the V6 engine’s size. The output of the car is also comparable to a V6 one, and it measures 177 hp (130 kW).
The high-pressure tank inside of the car stores hydrogen gas at 70 MPa. This in turn increases the mass of the hydrogen that can be stored and extending the range of the vehicle. When you have in mind that it is coupled with the efficient powertrain and vehicle’s energy consumption is reduced that you can also make the conclusion that the Clarity Fuel Cell achieves rather excellent vehicle range per full tank of over 700 km (435miles). And the best part is that it only takes three minutes to fill the tank.
Design of Clarity Fuel Cell
Next to the 177 hp, this car also has stunning appearance. Clarity Fuel Cell’s exterior has strong aerodynamic profile, full-LED headlights up front and sharp, slender profile highlighted by the 18-inch alloys.
Inside, the hydrogen sedan combines its advanced atmosphere with refined atmosphere. The driver for instance enjoys advanced interface, which utilizes Honda’s design principles of instant recognition and intuitive control. As mentioned, the interior is simple and spacious, and includes premium materials that will make sure that the occupant’s experience is at its best.
Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is going to be launched in limited number in European markets next year. The hydrogen car is scheduled to be commercially available in Japan from early 2016.
The latest ground braking innovation from Honda is the Solar Hydrogen Station on Grounds of Saitama Prefectural Office. This initiative is part of the Electric Vehicle Testing Program for Honda’s next-generation personal mobility products.
Furthermore, Honda also equipped the HondaFCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle with an outlet to function as a 9kW power source. How it works: the FCX Clarity uses a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to create power with zero CO2 emissions. This new outlet will help the vehicle to serve as a zero-emission mobile electric generator.
In particular, this is the first installation in Japan which produces stores and dispenses hydrogen with ZERO CO2 emissions.
A uniquely developed high pressure water electrolysis system by Honda produces hydrogen. It has no mechanical compressor, and in addition operates silently and with high energy efficiency. Utilizing Solar and grid power, the system is capable of producing 1.5kg of hydrogen within 24hours, which enables an FCX Clarity to run approximately 150km (90miles).
The goal of the brand is to develop in the future a system which offers clean energy sources for the home in the future, to help replace fossil fuels, reduce emissions and combat climate change.

So you have 30 000$ laying around and you want to buy a car? Well great! Always willing to give reasonable consumer advice, we at automobilesreview.com have compiled a list of the best cars out there that go effortlessly under that limit.
It’s nice to have something exclusive just to tackle the mundane day-to-day life. So why not try the Mazda RX-8? Yes, it has been around for over 7 years now and soon it will be gone but it still is capable to put a smile on your face and also to punch you in the chest. While retaining a typical sloping profile of a two-door coupé it actually has four doors if we count the clever rear-hinged “freestyle” ones at the back. That gives you a certain degree of practicality and also something to brag about The power comes from a 1.3 but it is a rotary Wankel engine so it develops the staggering 232 units of horsepower. However, despite it’s size, this engine is quite thirsty (because of working in a completely different manner from conventional engines) for both fuel and oil. So running costs might be a problem for some.
This is the closest thing to a BMW you can get for that kind of money. It has a 1.6 twin scroll turbocharged engine with fully variable valve timing. So in essence you get 181 hp in a car that weighs no more than a double cheeseburger. It has perfect road manners, plenty of efficiency and a classy image deriving from an old British icon. It’s not very big though, is it?
This was an easy pick. Ever since the magnificent Mk.1, GTIs have always been dominant on the hot hatch market. Blistering performance, superb handling and a solid image are just a few superlatives that can describe what the capable hand German engineers has done here. Ever evolving, the Golf now makes use of a powerful 2.0 l. TSI engine coupled with either a 6-speed DSG gearbox or a 6-speed manual for diehard motoring enthusiasts. It’s hard to find anything here not to like. Focus ST fans may argue that it is a bit dreary and plain but that is as far as they would go.
Volkswagen Golf VI GTI (2012)
Mazda MX-5 – Starting at $23,190
Another Mazda here however, unlike the RX-8, the MX does not take itself very seriously. It has a refined 2.0 l, 136 hp engine and not a million horsepower rocket thruster under the hood. Nor does it get any cunningly disguised compartments. All it does is to stay true to itself – front mid engine, rear-wheel drive, two seats and a soft top. It was originally conceived to honer the memory of the emblematic small British roadster class. Yes, most probably not the technological miracle that other cars try to be, but you’ll notice heads turning while driving around in town and that will make you happy.
We wouldn’t miss a chance to add some Italian pesto on our petrol salad. It is another iconic supermini which changed the world of consumerism when it got out in 1957. Today, more than half a century later it is still as good to the taste as Italian wine. Abarth is a subsidiary company for Fiat that produces hardcore, lunatic, rubber burning demons. With their help this 2012 imp now has a 16-valve 1.4-liter engine that brings 160 hp. The design has managed to preserve its simplistic spirit coming from the 500’s ancestors and yet it is absolutely stunning to look at. Is it better than the MINI? We will let you decide.
“It’s a muscle car and it is awesome!” That is at least what the kid in all of us says. In reality it is impractical, thirsty, barely a technological landmark and it handles like a rowing boat. But bare with us on that one. Imagine – you on the open road, the sun blazing down on you, haze rising from the black tarmac. What do we need to complete the picture? You guessed it, it’s a Dodge Challenger. But it’s not the power, nor are the emblematic looks you want the most. All you want to hear is the sound of a 375 hp, V8 HEMI thundering down that road with you behind the wheel. That sort of practice should actually be classified as therapy for it might be the most smile-inducing thing out there. But it is even more than that: with it you are fighting for a cause to save this dying breed of vehicles which used to be so cherished in the past.
So Cameron Diaz drives a hybrid and so does Leonardo DiCaprio. The list goes on for miles and it makes you think: “what is it about those cars?” Well, nowadays it has become a trend to think about the environment. 30 years ago it might have been “cool” to own the above mentioned Dodge Challenger but now Prius is the new swagger. But are you willing to play along and subdue to the the newly established norms? No, you are better than that. Go full on environmentally friendly with the Honda Clarity FCX – the car that according to Jay Leno will save the supercar just like the the car saved the horse. Put simply, the FCX will be the future of motoring when petrol starts running low. It is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle which you just top up with compressed hydrogen and then use the oxygen from the atmosphere to create a reaction with an end result – H2O (water). The energy expelled from the reaction however powers up a 136 horsepower electric motor. This mode of energy producing eliminates the need of the dreadful battery packs used in various hybrids which are unreliable and dependent on power sockets and the weather. The Honda is efficient, clean and quite normal actually. The only problem of driving around in it is that you might flood the Earth eventually (joking really). While it is amazingly cheap to buy, obtaining one is as tricky as obtaining hydrogen itself. About 200 vehicles will be leased over the next three years, primarily in Southern California. But if you do manage to get one, you wont get more exclusive than that.
Zero emission, hydrogen fuel cell cars roll off line for first time
Today (Monday, 16 June), the FCX Clarity – Honda’s advanced hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle – came off the line at the world’s first dedicated fuel cell vehicle manufacturing facility in Japan.
