Did we just find the best Citroen car out there?!

We have told you about many classy and super-classy Citroen vehicles. Remember the new Citroen Megane Sport III? And the Tour Hyphen Concept? And what about all these Cactus Special Editions? We bet you remember. In fact, recently Citroen team has brought us many cool vehicles that deserved our attention. And then, most suddenly there is this 1973 Citroen DS Super 5, considered to be the finest Citroen DS vehicle in the world.

Tight, badass looking and futuristic (in terms of 1970s) this little guy still has that solid presence and catches the eye with neat shapes and expressions. Starting with this super aggressive face at the front, going through the clean and simple sides and finishing with scalloped back with dramatic design solution, we tend to believe that this one is actually a pretty convincing choice for the best DS vehicle out there.

This particular Super 5 unit is finished in Blanc Meije (period white) and comes with its original Red Targa upholstery. Meticulously restored to exceptional high levels and as close to the original condition as possible, the owner decides to auction this one with the aid of Silverstone Auction’s Salon Privé Sale event, on Saturday, 3rd September at the Blenheim Palace.

But let’s get back on vehicle’s fame. This model is so good that it has took home more than 200 awards overall. Definitely an unrivalled European show car winner, this vehicle has dominated at many concourses and event: these include National Champion at Welsh Benson & Hedges Concours and Hedges Concours, NEC show winner and it was also a national Meguiars Concours display car. Oh, yeah. It was also featured at the Paris Concours and Citroen World Championship.

And last, but not least, this award-winning 1973 Citroen DS Super 5 will be offered for sale with all of its storage boxes, full photographic restoration folders and about 150 magazine features. The price? between $88,000-$120,000 USD.

DS 3 Dark Light Limited Edition Mixes Day and Night

DS 3 Dark Light Limited Edition is not a HIM-dedicated vehicle. If you are fan of the band, then you should know what I am talking about. For those who aren’t familiar, HIM are a very cool band from Finland, dedicatedly playing the so called “love metal” for more than 24 years. They became extremely popular in the US with their fifth album, called ‘Dark Light’, and are also best friends with the professional skateboarder Bam Margera. Being also an MTV Jackass star, he was the person who made the ‘Heartagram’ symbol popular, which by the way is originally HIM’s logo.

Enough off-topic. The here-presented limited edition of DS 3 will be produced in only 300 examples. It will be strictly distributed only in the UK.

If you are wondering why this DS 3 is called ‘Dark Light’, here’s the answer. The car is painted in Perla Nera Black metallic, but features one-off clear-backed metallic vinyl wrap along each side. The vinyl gives the feel that the black-as-the-night vehicle is slightly illuminated by the rising sunlight.

This particular limited edition DS 3 is based on the DStyle Nav trim level. This means that it features eMyWay satellite navigation as standard. It also adds signature DS LED Vision headlights, chrome door mirrors and ‘Dark Light’ badging on the front wings and tailgate. To make it even cooler, the designers made sure that it runs on 17-inch black diamond-cut Bellone alloys.

The cabin is beautifully styled with Black leather pack, ‘Dark Light’ dashboard badging, aluminum sports pedals and premium carpet mats. The interior is also adorned by sports seats and front arm rest as well as by convenience pack, which adds auto lights and wipers, electrically-folding door mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror.

Drivetrain

Under the hood of the DS 3 Dark Light is the efficient PureTech 110 S&S petrol engine. It is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission and features stop-start function useful for the urban environment.

Citroen DS 3 WRC Received Refreshed Looks And Additional Performance Tweaks

The DS WRC of Citroën Rally team will compete with refreshed look at Rally de Portugal. The fresh looks come together with the redesigned front, that bring even better aerodynamic features. After the World Rally Championship, The DS 3 WRC has undergone some changes.

When it comes to visuals, the DS 3 WRC includes beautiful lines and colors and combines Polar White, Perla Nera Black and Aluminum Grey with beautiful geometric lines to create the overall aggressive, but yet elegant appearance.

Further upgrades were made and on the drivetrain system. There is a special 1.6-Liteer direct injection engine, taken from the Citroën C-Elysée WTCC and a redesigned semi-automatic gearbox. Further changes include a rear spoiler and a redesigned rear suspension. All these upgrades and changes are marked as proven and trustworthy. The team has enjoyed a confident start to the season with numerous victories, including this in Argentina.

In Portugal, the following phase of tweaks will come with further-redesigned front end, that will include totally different bumpers and wings, that will aim for even better aerodynamic performance by lowering drag and increasing thedownforce.

Citroen DIVINE DS Concept Revealed Ahead of Paris Debut [VIDEO]

Citroen DIVINE DS Concept was just unveiled prior to its official first world appearance at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The car represents a vision of the future for the DS brand and combines sophistication with advanced technology. Through this concept, Citroen also premiers the new ‘Hyper-typage’ interior design, which offers haute couture inspired levels of personalization. Furthermore, the car is equipped with a 10.4 inch HD Touch Drive interface, laser headlights and a holographic display. For this project, the French company has partnered with Swarovski & Lesage embroidery to make the interior even more luxurious and classy.

DIVINE DS is a compact 4-door vehicle which is powered by a 1.6 THP turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine. The unit produces 270 hp (199 kW) at 6,000rpm and 330 Nm (244 lb-ft) of torque between 1,900 and 5,500 rpm. This engine not only delivers excellent performance, but also is Euro 6 compliant, emitting just 145g/km of CO2.

The concept car has unique styling cues. It is elegant and enchanting, and it exterior has been decided in metallic grey. The strong, sensual curves showcase some striking graphic features, such as the ‘DS Wings’ at the front or the dramatic lines on the sides as well as the unique roof design. This DS model measures 4.21 m in length and 1.98 m in width. It also features a low driving position of only 1.35 m height. In the centre, the radiator grille includes floating diamond shapes and provides a place for the DS emblem.

Inside, the interior is as striking as the exterior. The cabin design includes a bold, high-tech layout, expressing the avant-garde design. On passenger’s side, a single continuous drape enfolds the console and dashboard. It forms a twist as it reaches the door inserts. The airy-looking drape enfolds the passenger, while driver’s side is a true example of advanced technology.

The central console sets out the driving functions. Main features include special toggle switches decorated with gemstones and a digital clock with a stone set in its surround in the middle. The rectangular steering wheel resembles more a sculpture rather than a regular steering wheel.

The seats are as futuristic as everything throughout the interior. They are upholstered in full-grain aniline leather. At the rear there aren’t any rear windows, which allow passengers to immerse in an intimate atmosphere.

This Citroen concept also stands for new automotive experience, which is all about exclusive philosophy for personalization, referred to as ‘Hyper-typage’. The cabin of DIVINE DS features three interchangeable interior ambiences. They are based on a dashboard and door scrolls that can be changed in just 15 minutes. The first one is called “Mâle”, which offers a blend of highly masculine materials and pearl stitching in red and black. The second one is “Parisienne Chic”. This one includes full grain ivory-coloured leather allied with pleated silk and satin, which is embroidered with beads and crystals.

The last one is “Fatale Punk” which offers nothing less than bold ambience, with its darker and more glamorous touch. The dominant note is provided by deep black, padded leather studded with crystals. The door panel scrolls are covered in Swarovski fabric. This is a material that shimmers with millions of tiny crystals.

DIVINE DS is a concept with a dynamic and avant-garde design, featuring futuristic headlights combining sequential indicators with laser technology, facets on the roof that open to reveal a reversing camera and optimised aerodynamics. Inside, the ‘cockpit’ driving position and exclusive use of digital systems such as touch screen and holographic display showcase the latest in-car technology. The 20-inch alloy wheels, on which the car runs, have an innovative design with the floating spokes.

The high-tech ‘cockpit’ features HD Touch Drive interface with a spectacular 10.4 inch screen. It is located on the overhead console and includes a function that replaces the rear-view mirror. The driver’s information is in digital form, with a head-up display above the steering wheel, while behind it there is a holographic display.

Citroen DIVINE DS concept was unveiled in Paris yesterday, prior its official premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. The car will be also displayed at the Chantilly Concours d’Elégance event on 7^th of September.

Citroen DS 6WR Interior [images]

Citroen has published first official images of the interior of DS 6WR luxury SUV (sports utility vehicle). The cabin comes with a two-tone plush upholstery with aluminum trim elements on the doors, the center console and the steering wheel. There is also a nice LED interior lighting. The Grip Control system’s control switch is placed right next to the leather gear shifter.

Citroen DS 6WR SUV measures 4.55 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width and 1.61 meters in hegith with a 2.73 meter wheelbase. The strong presence is underlined by a set of 19” alloy wheels. The engine range includes a 160HP (118 kW) e-THP and a 200HP (147 kW) THP unit coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The concept was unveiled at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show in April. It is scheduled to hit the market in September, this year. It will be manufactured locally and will be sold through a network of 60 dealerships.

“With the launch of the DS 6WR in the autumn, it (the brand) now markets three locally-produced models – a feat achieved in just one year. As DS sets out to become a premium brand on a worldwide scale, the results obtained in two years in China, the world’s number-one automotive market, encourage us in the pursuit of our business offensive”, commented Yves Bonnefont, Chief Executive Officer of the DS brand.

Citroen’s DS Family Gets The 5LS in China

Citroen-DS-5LS-shadow Citroen-DS-5LS-medium Citroen‘s DS line grows. Today, the 5LS joins the family – it’s a luxurious executive saloon that’s going to go on sale in March 2014 exclusively in China.

Although it has been now officially, “unveiled” we don’t really know much about it. It’s big, that’s for sure. Boasting a length of 4.70 m, the 5LS is supposed to have the longest wheelbase in its class (2.71 m). It’s wide too. At 1.84 m distance between the fenders, there’s plenty of space for a 1955 throwback front grille. It’s not all about the history though. Stylish boomerang-shaped Daytime Running Lights and 3D rear LED lights reassuringly state that the 5LS is firmly planted in the present and looking straight ahead.

Most of the remaining information concerns the insides – metal, wood and leather all fuse together to create an environment of utmost luxury and class. Apparently, “watch strap” seat design is the signature move of the DS line. For the ideal comfort of the rear passengers, the backrest is at an angle of exactly 29 degrees. Things get even more bourgeoisie when we consider the air ioniser inside the cabin.

Chauffeurs (why would anyone buy the 5LS and drive it himself?) should rejoice as well. The DS features a clever stereo system, massaging front seats, keyless entry and start, blind spot monitoring, front and back parking sensors and a reversing camera.

The oily bits are the ones that has suffered the most glossing over. All we know is that, for the time being, there will be two engines available; the THP 160 and the THP 200. Citroen DS Wild Rubis Concept Unveiled Ahead of Shanghai

Citroen DS Wild Rubis Concept is a one-of-a-kind model that has just been unveiled prior to its official premiere at Shanghai Motor Show later this month. The vehicle shows the design and technology directions of a future DS SUV.

DS Wild Rubis adds to the model range of DS3, DS4, DS5 and the Numéro 9 concept with its inimitable style. The concepts emotional exterior shows sophistication in design and attention to detail.

The model is destined to be a full-hybrid and includes plug-in technology, and it is packed with technological innovations. The unique profile of this Citroen concept mixes the powerful appearance of an SUV with the refined style of the DS line.

The model is 4.7 m in length, 1.95 m in width and 1.59 m in height, while its wheelbase is of 2.9 m. The car runs on 21” wheels that add its power and strength. In addition, the vehicle’s silhouette is highlighted by chrome signature on the side.

The roof bars on the other hand put an emphasis of the height, whilst hinting at power and performance, before blending into the bodywork and flow of the profile of the rear wing. Next, thee front fascia of DS Wild Rubis includes a three-dimensional radiator grille with the DS emblem.

The grill flows into full-LED headlights that are created via three mobile lighting modules and surrounded by scrolling indicator lights at the base and a tuning fork-shaped light signature on the edge.

At the rear there is also visible a new arrangement of the lights that look like they appear to be part of the raised tailgate. Here, the glass of the rear lights is encased in chrome, whilst a subtle lighting effect on the DS emblem creates more depth. The rear tailgate is emphasized by the chrome finish, incorporating the twin exhaust pipes.

Some of the highlights here feature side chrome signature, the multitude of sculptured details in the metal, the front and rear light signatures and the finish of the materials, like the guilloche pattern on the hub caps. At last, the hues and materials utilized in the DS Wild Rubis exude sophisticated appearance, while the color of the ruby red bodywork changes with the intensity of light.

2012 Citroen DS4 Just Mat Limited Edition

2012 Citroen DS4 Just Mat is the first limited series based on the second model in the DS model line. This is a limited edition version which, to be more precise comes, nine months after the official release of the CITROËN DS4. Moreover it is based on the Sport Chic finish with an original body colour, named Hickory Mat Brown.

In particular, the DS4 was launched last year in May 2011 and since then got circa 30,000 orders. It is undeniably an appealing raised four-door coupé, which combines the elegance and compactness of the coupe, with the versatility and space of a compact saloon. The new limited series are based on the same approach; however they are additionally based on the Sport Chic trim. Like the DS3 Matière Grise and DS3 Série Noire limited versions, the new 2012 CITROËN DS4 Just MAt has now the same Hickory Mat Brown bodywork, with colour-coordinated door rubbing strips and exterior door mirror housings. This limited edition sits on 19” Cairns alloy wheels and has xenon dual-function directional headlights.

The limited series of 2012 Citroen DS4 Just Mat will be produced in only 500 units. This automatically leads to the consequence that there is also a lot of attention put in the interior of the car. The interior design features leather Club Habana upholstery, including the ‘watch bracelet’, which is a design specific to the DS line. In addition, the vehicle gains the eMyWay navigation system.

The CITROËN DS4 Just Mat ships with the THP 200 or HDi 160 engine, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Prices start at €34,950.

Citroen DS Line and Sebastien Loeb Honored by International Automobile Festival

The Citroen DS is still young and ripe but already it has set on maturing into a hefty lineup : the DS3, DS4 and DS5. Unlike the standard range, the DS line with its bold design and bonkers features is for people with the driving enthusiasm of teenagers or lunatics. The Citroen DS5 is the latest addition to the line-up and the first one to feature Full Hybrid Diesel technology with the Hybrid4 version. It will join an already successful market of DS vehicles with around 180 000 units sold and counting.

And know, the International Automobile Festival has decided that the DS needs some recognition so the Design Grand Prize is rightfully allocated to Citroen to honor the vigorous design team and the car marque as a whole. The award was presented to Jean-Pierre Ploué, Director of Styling for the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group on 25 January at the official ceremony marking the 27th International Automobile Festival.

In the mean time, rally driver Sebastien Loeb who has been racing Citroens since 2001 and is the only driver in the world with eight consecutive World Rally Championship titles was honored by the Festival’s jury. Because of him, Citroen has enjoyed much success as a manufacturer of rally cars (seven titles to be exact). This year is looking good too, as he has already sealed a victory at Monte Carlo, the first rally of the new season, which took place last weekend. That success story is the reason to honor Loeb’s exceptional sporting career by presenting him with a Palme d’Or (golden palm) award.
