Citroënwins numerous awards at the DieselCar & EcoCar event. Brand’s latest full-electric C-segment hatch, the ë-C4 was named “Best Electric Medium Car”, and the new C4 ranked at 49th position in the event’s list of the best models on sale this year. Both models are joined by the new Berlingo, which won the “Best Utility Vehicle” and Grand C4 Space Tourer, which took home the “Best MPV” award.
What impressed the jury at the event were C4’s elegant style and the practical all-electric drivetrain. This is also the latest electrified vehicle by Citroën, followed by C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid, ë-Dispatch van, and ë-SpaceTourer MPV.
New ë-C4 is powered by an agile 136hp electric motor and can cover up to 217 miles. It can also support CCS rapid charging for 80% for about 30 minutes with a 100kW rapid charger. Also, a Type-2 charging cable allows a regular 7.4kW charger to fully charge the vehicle for 7 hours and 30 minutes.
Along with ë-C4, the new C4 SpaceTourer received the award for the model’s elegant exterior styling and comprehensive standard equipment. This is the second year that the SpaceTourer impresses the jury – at last year’s event, the vehicle also received the “Best Medium MPV” award.

Secondly, there is the Citroen Dispatch Combi, which has received some upgrades as well. It is one of the largest passenger vehicles in the Citroen range: it has space for nine passaangers and more importantly it offers great levels of comfort. The updates on the vehicle new front end with a wide chromed grille including the brand’s updated chevron design, new body colour (Hickory Brown), Grip Control (with the driver choosing one of four modes – normal, all-terrain, snow or sand); an optional tyre pressure monitor is also introduced. “Citroën has a track record of producing low emitting LCVs and we are now offering van buyers even lower emission alternatives, while minimising or eliminating altogether the cost penalty usually associated with new clean fuel-efficient technology. With lower emissions and lower running costs too, it’s a win-win deal for van owners and the environment.”, said Scott Michael, Citroën’s Commercial Vehicle Operations Manager.
In addition, all Berlingo vans are specified with Citroën’s unique Trafficmaster telematics package. This further reduces urban fuel consumption and emissions by offering the fastest congestion avoidance routing direct to the driver.
All year round we worked hard to develop the most efficient electric cars in the world, but also the “zero emission” urban vehicles adapted to the evolution wished by cities which become often too much polluted to insure the air quality needed for life.
And so we presented in March 2008 the electric Citroën Berlingo “Powered by Venturi” as a result of a strong collaboration between PSA Peugeot Citroën and Venturi. This vehicle is now in final of a tender from La Poste (French Post Office) regarding the supplying of 500 electric vehicles.
In April, we unveiled the VM 300, a brand new electric motor of 300 hp for the Venturi Fétish which has known many improvements and is today the most efficient and the safest electric sports car.
During the Paris Motor Show in October was exhibited for the first time the Venturi Volage, result of the partnership between Venturi and Michelin. This vehicle, equipped with the last evolution of the “Michelin Active Wheel”, is, with its 4 driving wheels and its active suspension, the most advanced GT in term of technology. This electric car, greeted as a major headway all over the world, establishes a real innovation in regards of its architecture and design.
At the same time, as a result of the considerable interest shown by the public in the Eclectic Concept (presented in 2006 and consecrated best innovation of the year after the I-phone by “Time Magazine”), was presented the final version of the Venturi Eclectic which is more compact, lighter et more urban, adapted to mass production. Eclectic is ready to confront the important stakes that await it: 86% of interviewed persons on the Venturi’s booth during the Paris Motor Show think it is the ideal vehicle for being used in self-service in city* while its Designer, Sacha Lakic, has just received the “Good Design Award” on the 10th of December in Chicago.
Thanks to all to have participated in the fantastic human and technological adventure which we live, with a special thanking to the press to have followed more than ever our works with attention.
2009 will be a strategic year for Venturi which will launch in Sablé-sur-Sarthe the construction of an assembly plant of electric vehicles.
