SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo Revealed! Accessible for PS3 this Summer [VIDEO]

2015 SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo has been revealed and this makes me very happy because FCA has done this via many pictures and detailed information. These images can be viewed in the gallery below. There is also an official video that shows the mightiness of this car. As a matter of fact, after seeing it I regret that it will stay in the virtual world only. Here is why.

The single-seat will hit the virtual track of the Gran Turismo 6 PlayStation3 game this summer. It will be powered by a futuristic hybrid V-10, pumping out 2,590 combined horsepower! Can you believe that? But everything is possible in the virtual world, isn’t it?

Players can access three powerful versions of the car only after successfully completing challenges. At first, they will find the entry level SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo S, then the racing version GTS-R and eventually they can drive the experimental technology ultimate version X concept.

Design

The design of the car is extreme and no one can argue on that. Aggressive, powerful and aerodynamically optimized in every way, it only makes us wish that it isn’t a vehicle from the real world. An interesting fact is that the SRT Tomahawk was actually born from an internal design competition for a futuristic interpretation of a 2035 Dodge.

The winning design was a creation of Paul Hoste, who’s young enough and new to FCA, and also grew up playing Gran Turismo.

The shape of the car is an expression of movement and flow. At the front we have aggressive forms, while the rear seems to be a little bit angular, with asymmetric fenders and a powerful exhaust with five large ports were integrated in the rear diffuser.

The cockpit and engine cover are made from graphene, which is lighter than the carbon and contribute to the transparency. Large air intake for engine cooling, active panels above the front and rear fenders characterize the design. At last, we can’t skip the thin LED lights that contribute for the futuristic look of this virtual car.

Performance Levels

As mentioned, the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo will be available in three variations. The entry level carries the “S” designation and it is powered by 7.0-liter wide-angle V-10 unit, which is tuned to produce 792 hp (582 kW). At the front, the car adds pneumatically driven wheels that contribute for additional 215 hp (158 kW), thus making a total system output of 1,007 hp (740 kW). The top speed is 250 mph.

The racing version of the virtual car is called GTS-R. The V-10 under its hood pushes up to 1,137 hp (836 kW), while the air-driven front wheels add 313 hp (230 kW) contributing for a total system output of 1,450 hp (1066 kW). The top speed is in excess of 300 mph.

At last, the ultimate version “X” can set redline at 14,500 rpm, thanks to its innovative V-10 engine which pumps out 2,168 hp (1594 kW). Here, the front wheel drivetrain contributes an additional 422 hp (310 kW) at peak, for total output of 2,590 hp (1911 kW). The Vmax here is stunning: 404 mph. The extreme performance of this version requires a G-suit for the driver for maximum protection.

What is really sad here is that we have to wait a little bit longer to have access to these beautiful cars. Until then we can wipe our tears and take a dreamy look at the video and pictures below.

“Drive Proud” with Chrysler 300 [VIDEO]

2015 Chrysler 300 Narrated by Peter Dinklage (he pays the role of Tyrion in “Game of Thrones”), the advertising campaign for the 2015 Chrysler 300 has already started. “Drive Proud” campaign greets the people, who achieved success through hard work and dedication: from small business owners to artist and self-employed. The 60-second video is named “The Kings & Queens of America” and has already been launched.

There are more spots, that will be on TV later that month to continue the “Drive Proud” campaign and present the most luxurious vehicle in its class – the Chrysler 300. The advertising will run from April until June and further 30-second videos will be supported by advertisement agency Wieden+Kennedy Portland.

Other people, that would be featured in the campaign include Becky Hammon (the first full-time female NBA assistant coach); Mercedes Yvette (jewelry designer/The Glided Fox); Caroline Styne (restaurant owner) and many more designers, artists, sportsman.

The Chrysler brand delivers incredible designs, technology and innovation, that is always improved since the foundation of Chrysler in 1926. The brand success on the market continues to grow, thankfully to the ever-evolving and ever-searching challenges teams, that work for the brand.

Spring Meets the Refreshed 200 Model by Chrysler

2015 Chrysler 200 nterior The award-winning 2015 Chrysler 200 meets the spring with two additional interior packs, that give clients even greater customization choices. Interesting fact is, that the sales of the 2015 Chrysler 200 have grown tremendously since the introduction of the sedan. In March, the 200 model increased sales by the unbelievable 155 percent, compared to March 2014.

2015 Spring meets the fresh and hot 200S and the 200C models. The first one, 200C, comes with Ambassador Blue leather and Black leather or Black cloth with Ambassador Blue leather trim. 200C meets the upcoming Spring with the premium Mocha leather interior with heated front seats and also includes Black or Linen leather interiors.

But the 200 models don’t just come with interior changes: Chrysler 200 shows wonderful and handy addons. 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car Strikes with Classic Sophistication

The 2015 Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) is going to host one of the kings among classic cars – the historic 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car! This “Turbine Bronze” model will be revealed to the public along with 18 other classic cars as part of the Art and the Automobile historic vehicle exhibition, February 13-22, 2015. Since the event is tracing the artistic development of the design of vehicles through time, the Chrysler Turbine Car is just a perfect example of this progressive transition.

This rare prototype vehicle takes its power from a turbine engine that runs on Kerosene, Diesel – or JP-4 Jet Fuel. Attractiveness, old-time-spirit and beauty spring out from every side of the two-door hardtop coupe. It has four individual bucket seats, power steering, power brakes, and power windows. Its remarkable design also includes two large horizontal taillights and back-up lights which are installed inside a heavy chrome sculptured bumper.

“The Chrysler Turbine program began in 1954 – in the supersonic jet airplane age -and lasted until 1981,” said Brandt Rosenbusch, Manager of Historical Vehicles – FCA US. “Like today, the company was exploring alternative propulsion solutions and to prove the engine’s flexibility, even ran them on perfume and alcohol – aside from the ‘standard’ JP-4 Jet Fuel. We have not shipped the car to Canada in the 25 years I have been here.”

An interesting fact is that between 1963 and 1964 a total of 50 Ghia-bodied Turbine Cars were built and were given to members of the general public. Unfortunately, those cars never underwent series production.

Mopar Teases SEMA-bound Vehicles Ahead of Official Reveal

SEMA Show is to happen very soon and many companies are showing first glimpses of what we are to expect from them. Mopar too has released sketches of its modified Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Fiat vehicles, which are to be premiered at the event in Las Vegas. To be more precise, Mopar will display several innovative show vehicles, about which it didn’t say anything but only showed images.

At the Convention center the brand is filling a big space measuring 15,345-square-foot, where will be exhibited improvements of the large segment of Fiat portfolio. Precisely, the vehicles on the stand include Poison Dodge Dart R/T Concept, Viper ACR Concept, Challenger T/A Concept, Fiat Abarth Scorpion, Chrysler 200S Mopar Concept, Dodge Charger Mopar Concept, Fiat 500L Custom, Jeep Renegade Trailhawk Frostbite, Renegade Limited Rip Tide, Ram ProMaster, and Ram 2500 Outdoorsman.

Specifically, the greatest interest is expected to be provoked by the Poison Dart R/T Concept, Challenger T/A Concept, Fiat Abarth Scorpion, and the Viper ACR Concept. These concepts also hint towards future production variants.

And if you want more details on the vehicles that are to be exhibited at SEMA, well you have to wait a little longer just before the show, when Mopar will probably reveal most of the cars online. If this does not happen, then the event is to start on 4^th of November. Stay tuned!

Chrysler issues voluntary recall

The US branch of Chrysler Group has issued a voluntary recall for an estimated 22,115 small cargo vans that need a software upgrade for a program that controls certain airbags.

The recall is the result of an investigation that discovered that specific vehicle configurations may adversely affect sensors that control side-curtain and/or thorax airbags, causing inadvertent deployment. The problem is that under certain circumstances there might be exclusion of rear-audio and climate-control components adjacent to the sensors. The resulting gaps can generate a resonance, exaggerated by loaded roof racks and rough-road inputs, which may disrupt normal sensor operation. Fortunately, according to Chrysler, no one has been injured so far and no accidents have been reported.

Unfortunately the only solution is to undergo a software upgrade but the good news is that the availability of the new software is on its way. Chrysler says that in the US there are about 18,245 2013-2015 Ram C/V Tradesman vehicles that are affected and then 3,870 in Canada. Owners, most of whom are fleet customers, will be contacted by Chrysler Group and advised when they may schedule service, the cost of which will be borne by the Company. Take a Look Into The Production of the Chrysler 200

Chrysler Group subsidiary Chrysler has gone ahead and created a new website that allows online users to explore their Chrysler 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI. It is a very interesting and interactive way of providing people a look into the facility.

Let us start by explaining the facility. It is a completely overhauled facility just outside the Detroit metropolitan area. It is designed solely for the production of the all new Chrysler 200 sedan model. This is the same model that Chrysler is pushing out to the North American market, expressing they have a completely redesigned 200 sedan, that is fresh, and should fulfill many who are looking for a midsize sedan.

This facility might be one of the hardest working facilities over the next 4-5 years as they work hard to reach the FIAT Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne’s goal of selling over 700 thousand units of the Chrysler 200 by the 2018 year. This is a very optimistic stretch goal for the Chrysler Group, as in 2013 they were only able to sell just 350 thousand units.

Now back to the tour itself. It includes a great narrative, and segmented structure. So it allows you to pick and choose what part of the manufacturing plant you wish to tour. The 2015 Chrysler 200 named Top Safety Pick Plus

Cars are a nice thing but there is always a risk involved with them. You may be the best and most careful driver ever but no matter how slow you may drive, the driver in the opposite lane may still hit you and cause injuries and other bad things. Clearly you need a car that is as safe as possible.

Well, your choice has become a bit easier thanks to the efforts of the US Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). If you want a safe car then you should take a look at the 2015 Chrysler 200, which was just named “2014 Top Safety Pick Plus” by this same institute. The highest safety rating was awarded to models that come with front crash prevention.

“The 200 aced the challenging small overlap front test with a good rating in every measurement category,” said IIHS President Adrian Lund. “Chrysler should also be commended for offering forward collision warning with autonomous braking on this mainstream midsize car. Our research shows that these systems are effective in preventing some kinds of crashes from happening altogether.”

The tests conducted include a side impact with a large SUV or pickup truck, front moderate-offset impact, roof-crush consistent with a rollover, a rear collision capable of inducing whiplash, a new small-offset frontal impact and new crash prevention evaluation. In all tests the Chrysler 200 achieved the highest possible rating. This is not surprising though – the car comes with a comprehensive array of 60 active and passive safety and security features, including driver-warning/assist systems and state-of-the-art occupant restraints. In addition to all this about 65 per cent of the body of the car consists of hot-stamped, high-strength, advanced high-strength and boron steels for greater overall chassis strength.

The new 2015 Chrysler 200 comes with various extras such as a nine-speed automatic transmission, full electronic shifting, an innovative all-wheel drive system, a choice of two engines, paddle shifters, an available sport mode, highway fuel economy of US 36 mpg (6.5 liters per 100 km), cruise control and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist technologies. A unique feature of the 2015 Chrysler 200 is that the car comes with a segment-exclusive standard electronic brake with SafeHold that secures the vehicle if the driver opens the door and unlatches the seat belt while forward or reverse gears are still engaged. Other standard and available features include electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, ParkSense rear backup sensors, ParkView rear backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, Rear Cross Path Detection and LATCH child seat anchors.

The new 2015 Chrysler 200 starts at USD 21,700 (excluding a USD 995 destination fee) and is available at various Chrysler dealers in the United States.

8HP90 TorqueFlite Transmission Added To 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmissions are now a substantial part of more than one million vehicles worldwide. Reportedly, vehicles equipped with it, save more than 700 million gallons of gasoline, which is equal approximately to $2.5 billion USD. TorqueFlite transmissions in model-year 2014 Chrysler Group’s vehicles contribute to 19 fuel-economy/driving-range benchmarks across four vehicle segments. In addition, the special transmission also reduces the overall CO2 emissions by more than six million metric tonnes. Now, the company is expanding the availability of the transmission to the 2015 HEMI-equipped Dodge Charger and Challenger lineups.

In 2012 TorqueFlite 8HP45/845RE made its debut as the first eight-speed available outside the luxury market. Back then it was coupled with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 which drove the Charger and Chrysler 300 lineups. Since then, both transmissions have migrated to Pentastar- and HEMI-powered versions of the Dodge Durango, Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee lineups.

In 2015 TorqueFlite 8HP70 transmission will be paired with HEMI-equipped Dodge Chargers, Challengers and Challenger SRTs. Now, the introduction of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, marks also the introduction of the next member of TorqueFlite transmission family – the 8HP90 high-performance automatic.

The transmissions are fully electronic and their software adapts to the shift patterns of driver’s behavior and driving conditions. Internally, the TorqueFlite includes four gear sets and five shift elements, which include multi-disc clutches and brakes. In fact, only two shift elements are open at one time. The result is reduction of drag losses originating from the rotation of multiple parts.

Another benefit of the new transmissions is that they never requiring oil changes, when subjected to normal driving conditions. In addition, 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 equipped with this transmission, benefits from a thermal management system. It quickly raises engine and transmission fluid temperature, which contributes towards improvement of fuel efficiency by 1.7 percent.

2014 Chrysler Ypsilon – Price

2014 Chrysler Ypsilon is now available on the market with pricing starting at just £9,895 OTR for the 1.2 Silver trim level. The range features new entry and premium versions, additional equipment on the mid-range car, fresh colour choices, and new names that bring the UK series in line with the rest of Europe.

Powered by a choice of three economical, low emission engines – 1.2-litre 69HP petrol, 1.3-litre MultiJet 95HP diesel, and 0.9 litre 85HP petrol – the range now comes in three trim levels, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Standard equipment on the Silver trim level (replaces the S version) includes internal and external styling changes, new seat design and detail finishes. The exterior is further enhanced by a refreshed colour range which includes three new colours: Marble Grey, Khaki Grey, and Sapphire Blue.

Gold trim level of Ypsilon includes – 15 alloy wheels, air conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel and power door mirrors. The Blue&Me is now a standard equipment. This allows the driver to connect an external music device and stay legal and safe with built-in Bluetooth technology for telephone calls on the move.

The new Platinum version packs 16” alloy wheels, automatic climate control, rear power windows, cruise control, part leather seats and Magic Parking, which helps the driver park in tight spaces.

Law Enforcement Agencies Demanding 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD

2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD is the star of the circuit, which Chrysler Group is hosting at public and private tracks across the United States. With this vehicle, the Michigan State Police recorded their fastest-ever AWD lap time during their annual police vehicle evaluation tests. Police chief, patrolman, sheriff’s deputy or fleet manager – all want to test drive the police sedan. Precisely, last week Chrysler’s government and fleet operations team hosted 50 law enforcement agencies at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

In fact, this is the sixth stop on the tour, which has started in February. By the end of the tour, the team will complete twenty more tracks across the country this year. This is the only practical way, from which the law enforcement agencies can experience how capable the new Charger Pursuit AWD is.

This not only provides a testing opportunity, but also builds on the strong relationship between the brand and the largest municipalities who currently use Dodge Charger Pursuits in their fleets. In general, there are 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the U.S., which are in a constant state of vehicle evaluation.

2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit AWD is powered by the high-performance 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. It delivers great levels of power, refinement and fuel efficiency. In details, it generates 370 horsepower (272kW) and 390 lb.-ft. (528 Nm) of torque, which results in acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds. The fuel economy is estimated at 25 highway mpg.

To go further into details, the new Charger Pursuit AWD recorded the fastest lap time during Michigan State Police’s 2014 Vehicle Evaluation Test (1:33.85) last September. Next to the HEMI V-8, law enforcement agencies are driving the Charger Pursuit RWD with V-8 and V-6 engines, and the Ram 1500 and Dodge Durango Special Services vehicles.

Law enforcement agencies began ordering the vehicle earlier this year. First orders were delivered last month.

Chrysler – 9-speed Transmission Factory in Tipton, US

Chrysler Group’s Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne officially dedicated the Company’s new Tipton Transmission Plant and celebrated the production launch of the fuel-efficient nine-speed transmission today. During a ceremony at the plant, Marchionne told the audience, which included Tipton Mayor Don Havens, Tipton County Board of Commissioners President Phil Heron, UAW Local 685 President Rich Boruff, other invited guests and employees, that Tipton is an operation that will play a vital role in creating prosperity for the Company and for the surrounding communities.

“My confidence is rooted firmly in the knowledge that those of you who work in this area have shown a consistent dedication to delivering products with outstanding quality,” commented Mr. Marchionne.

“You have embraced the principles of World Class Manufacturing, which is enabling us to compete with the best manufacturers in the world. You are the authors of a major success story, creating a great turnaround and making it possible to create the need for this new plant in Tipton.”, he added.

Tipton will become one of the global hubs for 9-speed production. When it reaches full capacity, it will ship about 800,000 finished transmissions to Toledo, Ohio, for use in the Jeep Cherokee and Sterling Heights, Mich., for the Chrysler 200 as well as to Fiat plants in Melfi, Italy; Tofus, Turkey; Pernambuco, Brazil; and China. The potential exists to expand production to other international facilities as needed.

Since June 2009, the Company has invested more than $1.6 billion and hired more than 2,600 people in north central Indiana to produce the next generation transmissions. In total, Chrysler Group employs more than 7,000 people in the five plants in the region.
