  • Chevrolet Trax

Chevrolet introduced a reimagined Trax — a new, technology-forward choice for customers seeking the practicality of a compact car and the utility of an SUV.

Larger than today’s Trax, it provides more space for passengers and cargo, along with more standard and available content. A robust array of standard safety features and a suite of technologies will help keep customers connected, all at a starting MSRP of only $21,4951.

“The all-new Trax has everything you need and nothing you don’t,” said Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “More space. More features. More style. This is an entry-level vehicle that will surprise and delight customers with its value and plays a critical role as the gateway into the Chevy brand.”

Five distinct personalities — LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV — offer design and content choices, while all trims add enhanced features and technologies, including:

    • Chevy Safety Assist2 with six advanced safety and driver awareness technologies
    • Larger infotainment3 screens — a standard 8-inch-diagonal system and an 11-inch-diagonal screen on LT, 2RS and ACTIV trims
    • Wireless Apple CarPlay4 and Android Auto5 capability
    • LED headlamps
    • 17-inch, 18-inch or 19-inch wheels
    • Four-wheel disc brakes
    • Active Noise Cancellation

Additional new features on most trims include push-button start, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging6 and more. Cruise control is also standard equipment on all models and Adaptive Cruise Control2 is available on some trims, a first for Trax.

The new Trax is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged inline-three engine rated at a GM-estimated 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. It is matched with a proven six-speed automatic transmission. The turbo contributes to excellent on-demand power, particularly for passing maneuvers and on-ramp acceleration.

    Modern and purposeful design

Longer, lower and wider than the current model, the 2024 Trax introduces an athletic, muscular design inspired by the Chevrolet Blazer.

“The bold exterior and tech-forward interior design of the all-new Trax redefines what an entry-level vehicle can be,” said Phil Zak, executive design director, Global Chevrolet. “It demonstrates that modern, stylish design doesn’t have to come at a premium.”

At the front, sleek horizontal lines emphasize the vehicle’s width and are designed around the lines of the iconic Chevy bowtie at the center of the grille, which flow outward to the slim, Blazer-inspired headlamps that feature all-new LED lighting elements. Chevy-signature high-eye LED daytime running lamps make the Trax more visible, day or night.

A sleeker side profile is enhanced by a 4-inch-lower (101 mm) overall height than the current model, while strong “shoulders” in the body contribute to a taut, muscular presence and strong stance.

Each trim has specific design cues, including specific grille designs and wheels, as well as unique décor, depending on the model:

    • LS and LT feature clean, straightforward designs, with additional bright trim on LT. 17-inch steel wheels are standard on LS and 17-inch machined aluminum wheels are standard on LT.
    • RS trims offer the Trax’s sportiest design with additional exterior trim accents, as well as a unique grille with an embedded RS badge. The 1RS trim includes unique 18-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels and the 2RS features 19-inch machine-faced aluminum wheels.
    • The new ACTIV has a monochromatic look including titanium chrome accents and an aggressive-looking rear skid plate motif. It also features unique black 18-inch wheels.

New dimensions enhance driving experience, spaciousness

The new Trax’s larger dimensions pay dividends when it comes to the driving experience and interior spaciousness, with its nearly 6-inch-longer wheelbase and wider track offering more composed ride and handling characteristics, compared to the current model.

Inside, the 11-inch greater length and 2-inch greater width than the current model translates into greater roominess and cargo capacity, including 3 inches more rear legroom, which increases comfort for rear-seat passengers, and maximum cargo capacity that increases by nearly 12%.

    Technology-forward interior

Trax’s interior was designed to have a lightweight feel, achieved with sweeping lines and light, technical cues that emphasize the vehicle’s width and create a sense of airiness — all enabled by the vehicle’s longer, lower and wider platform.

The low instrument panel enhances outward visibility and contributes to the feeling of airiness, while a technical texture pattern sweeps across, adding depth. Other elements take inspirations from other recent Chevy performance vehicle designs, including signature round vents and more.

Display screens are the centerpiece of the tech-forward design, with the infotainment screen canted slightly toward the driver, for more intuitive control. LS and 1RS trims feature an 8-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen, while LT, 2RS and ACTIV have an 11-inch-diagonal infotainment color touchscreen and an 8-inch-diagonal driver information center.

The different trims also receive their own décor and accents, including:

    • LT features black seats with Sky Cool Gray accents
    • 2RS features red accents on the seats and a racing-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel
    • ACTIV features Evotex seats with yellow accents
    • RS and ACTIV trims feature black bowtie emblems

Additional standard and available content include:

    • Center console with ergonomically optimized shifter location
    • An electronic parking brake opens up more storage space in the console
    • Four bottle holders and two cupholders
    • Heated front seats, steering wheel and outside mirrors are standard on 1RS, 2RS and ACTIV and available on LT. Heated front seats and outside mirrors are available on LS
    • Remote start standard on 1RS, LT, 2RS and ACTIV and available on LS
    • Automatic climate control, push-button start and added rear-seat USB ports on LT, 2RS and ACTIV
    • Power-adjustable driver’s seat on ACTIV
    • Available sunroof

For the first time on Trax, customers can wirelessly connect Apple CarPlay4 or Android Auto5 to the infotainment system, while wireless phone charging6 is a new available feature on LT, 2RS and ACTIV. Trax also continues to offer Wi-Fi Hotspot capability7.

    Chevy Safety Assist and more

When it comes to safety and driver awareness technology, the 2024 Trax ups the ante with new, standard Chevy Safety Assist2 — a suite of six advanced safety and driver awareness technologies that include:

    • Automatic Emergency Braking
    • Front Pedestrian Braking
    • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
    • Forward Collision Alert
    • IntelliBeam auto high-beam control
    • Following Distance Indicator

A Rear Vision Camera2 is also standard, while Adaptive Cruise Control2, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert 2, Rear Cross Traffic Alert2 and Rear Park Assist2 are available.

  • Chevy Proudly Presents 2017 Trax!

2017 Chevrolet TraxEncouraged by the early success and the incredible growth of the segment, Chevy introduced the 2017 Trax – refreshed and refined and more expressive version of one of America’s most popular SUVs.

The vehicle features restyled front end, premium interior and some wonderful visual updates. And let’s not forget the updated safety features and the new infotainment system. So, let’s check out what this sweetie can offer all the Chevrolet fans out there.

    Exterior design

2017 Trax has that contemporary appearance with the stylish lines and components. For example, the grille and the headlamps are eye-catching and at the same time they remind for Malibu, Cruze and Volt models.

The front is completely redesigned and proudly demonstrates sleek headlamps that flow around the corner and go into the fenders. Good to know is that LT and Premier models offer halogen projector headlamps with LED signature lightning, as well as some neat chrome accents.

At the rear we see new dual taillamps and the same LED signature lightning. Also, Premier will be offered with 18-inch aluminum wheels.

    Interior styling

    2017 Chevrolet Trax

The cabin offers a modified instrument panel and countless premium components and enhancements. For example, Chevy’s signature dual-cockpit is now more expressive with the upper dashboard hood flowing uninterrupted across the panel. The redesigned instrumental cluster also features a new 7-inch diagonal MyLink color touch screen and Galvano chrome trim. Sweet, right?

    Additional equipment

2017 Trax also includes Apple Car Play and Android Auto systems, 4G LTE  and Wi-Fi hotspot. In fact, with the 4G LTE connection, Trax allows passengers to connect up to seven devises at the same time.

Also part of the standard equipment is the Keyless Open and Start features.

This time Chevy team relies on the Ecotec 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder power unit, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine is capable of producing a total of 138hp (102 kW) and 148 lb-ft of torque between 1,850 and 4,900 rpm.

  • The Dark Side is Strong and Calls for Chevy Trax

2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition Side ViewStar Wars: The Force Awakens is definitely a big hype and the might of the Dark Side has even gone to the minds of the designers at Chevrolet… metaphorically of course. The latest addition in Chevy’s lineup is the Trax Midnight Edition, which contributes to the versatility of the small SUV. With it’s blacked out styling it seems that has taken inspiration of the famous movie series.

The car is based on the LTZ trim level and includes a lot of cool styling components inside and out. The exterior of the Midnight Edition features black wheels, black bezels and beltline molding, door handles of the same color as well as black rear license plate appliqué.

SEE ALSO: Twenty Reasons Why 2015 Chevrolet Trax is the Next Big Thing

Speaking of the interior, we should also mention the seats which have been trimmed with gray accents. The other thematic feature is the floor mats that have gray piping.

As a matter of fact, Chevy Trax is unique vehicle which fuses the agility of a small-car with the utility and convenience of an SUV. It offers up to 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space and is driven by the 1.4L turbocharged engine. The powerplant is efficient but at the same time 138 horsepower (102 kW) and 148 lb-ft of torque (200 Nm) strong. In details, the small displacement engine offers an EPA-estimated 34 mpg highway for the FWD models.

Another advantage of the Trax is the available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, which in my opinion is one of the coolest connectivity features included in Chevy’s options.

If you are already interested, then you should know that 2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition is scheduled to go on sale in late February. The Midnight package is priced at $500 USD, while the Trax LTZ has a starting price tag of $26,125 USD.

  • Twenty Reasons Why 2015 Chevrolet Trax is the Next Big Thing

2015-Chevrolet-Trax-LTZ-THUMB2015 Chevrolet Trax has the utility of a crossover and the agility of a compact car. In fact, the model is Chevrolet’s seventh small vehicle launch in four years. It is packed with technology that is perfect for the “connected” city lifestyle: it includes the 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Siri Eyes Free technology. In addition, the Trax also delivers efficiency due to its standard turbocharged engine EPA-estimated at 34 mpg on the highway.

Chevrolet is pointing out 20 reasons why the new Trax is the best choice for the city dweller. First, it offers seating for up to five people and up to eight seating/cargo-carrying configurations. Secondly, it features a 60/40-split, flat-folding rear seat and a fold-flat front passenger seat.

Next, the cargo space is up to 48.4 cubic feet with the rear seat folded. The fourth reason is that Trax has 15 interior storage compartments. Some of these include upper and lower storage in each door, glove box, center stack, left and right of the center stack and left of the steering wheel.

Next comes the standard cargo management features, which include a rigid, removable cargo security cover and a storage area under the rear cargo floor. Six is the Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment with a 7-inch-diagonal color touch screen, while under seventh position is the OnStar with 4G LTE and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot.

Eight: Siri Eyes Free for iPhone users; and nine: standard USB port with MP3 playback/iPod music device support. The tenth place goes for the optional BringGo navigation app and Sirius XM Satellite Radio, while the eleventh reason is the engine. Precisely, it is the Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged unit coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is rated at 138 horsepower (102 kW) and 148 lb-ft of torque (200 Nm), between 1,850 and 4,900 rpm.

On the twelfth position is the available all-wheel drive, while thirteen is the exceptional dimensions of the car, which are designed for more confidence and maneuverability. Fourteen – the MacPherson-strut front suspension and compound crank rear suspension, and fifteen – the direct-acting, fuel-saving column-mounted electric power steering system.

The price of the Trax is the next benefit. It is starting at $20,995 USD for LS trim level. And speaking of trim levels – they are under number seventeen. Chevrolet is offering three trims: LS, LT and LTZ that come with different specifications to match any taste.

Eighteen is the all-wheel drive that is offered for $1,500 US which makes the most affordable AWD option in Chevrolet’s portfolio. And nineteen is the wide range of safety features. At last, we must mention the “Chevrolet Complete Care”, which includes two years/24,000 miles of scheduled maintenance.

  • 2015 Chevrolet Trax – US Spec [video]

Chevrolet is going to offer the new 2015 Trax in the US with first deliveries expected in the beginning of the next year. The compact crossover will be exhibited at the 2014 New York Auto Show. We doubt that it will make huge success, because the US market is quite demanding.

“Trax offers customers another option in the Chevrolet family and will be a strong competitor in the emerging small-SUV market, which is expected to grow more than 80 % by 2016,” commented Alan Batey, General Motors senior vice president, Global Chevrolet.

“Trax also leverages our global resources and builds on Chevrolet’s strong SUV heritage.”, he added.

2015 Chevrolet Trax US is virtually identical to the European version. The US model comes with a “dual-port” grille, sweptback headlights and muscular rear fenders.  The model also has plastic body cladding and 16” or 18” alloy wheels.

The interior boasts a new inspired instrument cluster, metallic accents and a MyLink infotainment system with a 7” display. The luggage compartment is pretty big – 530 liters and can be increased to 1,371 liter with rear seats folded down.

The engine is a 1.4 liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline with 140HP (103 kW) and 200Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system.

  • Chevrolet Trax Debut at Paris

2013-Chevrolet-Trax-thumb2013-Chevrolet-Trax-mediumThe latest Chevrolet Trax – due to debut at this year’s Paris motor show – will hopefully establish the brand in the “small SUV” niche. Mind you, to their understanding, being 4.2 meters long and 1.8 m wide is small. It’s a perfectly suitable vehicle for five, it’s high-seated and supposedly, it delivers a car-like handling on the tarmac.

The engines however (the ones for the European markets) do suggest the Trax‘s smallishness. There will be three options:

A 1.6L naturally aspirated petrol engine (not interesting enough apparently, to know the precise power output)

A 1.4L turbocharged petrol unit with 140 hp on paper. With the help of a six-speed manual, this engine transfers 200 Nm of torque to the wheels. Depending on the trim, you can also get an AWD system.

The same is true for the 1.7L doesel which produces 10 hp less but ends up with 300 Nm of torque. All powertrains that are mated to a manual (as opposed to the available six-speed automatic) also get a Start/Stop function.

Inside, a 358-liter storage space that can come in handy on a grocery run. That includes the various compartments on the sides and under the rear seats and under the cargo floor. If one is willing to spend a bit more money, you can get technological as well – Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a touch-screen display and a flexible navigation programme.

In terms of safety, the LT trim Trax offers an array of standard passive and active systems. Six-airbaxs, ESC, Hill Start and Descent Assist/Control, traction control, ABS.

The Paris motor show is due to start on the 27th of September when the world’s leading automotive companies will debut and showcase their latest products to the world. The 2013 Chevrolet Trax will hit the markets sometime in 2013.

Revealed today at the New York Auto Show, the highly creative Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Groove and Chevrolet Trax concepts drive the energy, diversity and excitement of urban life into cars that deliver good-looking fun, fuel economy and value.

All three concepts were designed at GM’s Design Studio in Inchon , South Korea . One of GM’s 11 Global Design Studios, the designers in the Korean center are experts in small car product development.

Built on GM’s global mini architecture, these concepts demonstrate the flexibility, creativity and innovative focus of design in GM’s Asia Pacific region. The Chevrolet Beat concept, a running prototype of a micro import tuner, was built in India ; while the Chevrolet Groove and Trax micro urban crossover concepts were built at the GM Tech Center in Warren , Mich.

“The Chevrolet Beat, Groove and Trax concepts highlight the strength and diversity of GM’s Global Design capabilities, as well as the ability of our Global Product Development team to anticipate and quickly meet the evolving needs of our diverse markets around the world,” said Ed Welburn, vice president, GM Global Design.

“The design team was so enthused about being given the assignment to develop the perfect small car for urban commuters that they created not one, but three interpretations of how this car may be developed for Chevrolet customers around the world.”

Chevrolet is one of four GM global brands, meeting diverse customer needs in 120 countries with vehicles that range from subcompacts and family sedans to full-size pickups and SUVs and iconic sports cars such as the Corvette. The concepts revealed in New York , for example, offer three different fuel-efficient engines, including a diesel.

“The Chevrolet Beat, Groove and Trax concepts have the potential to expand the reach of Chevrolet – already a beloved brand around the world – even further, connecting with young buyers on multiple continents who desire fun-yet-efficient transportation,” said Chevrolet General Manager Ed Peper. “These are the same brand attributes that made Chevrolet a household name in the U.S. “
