  • Facelifted 2015 Chevrolet Aveo Debuts In China

chevrolet-aveo-facelift-china-THUMB2015 Chevrolet Aveo is being currently introduced to China’s market in a hatchback and sedan body styles. The car is known in North America as Sonic model. The refreshed version of the car has an entirely new front end and rear clip, and in fact these enhancements slightly remind us of 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. The latter has been also unveiled in China a month ago. The car will be offered in four- and five-door configuration. The hatch will go on sale next month and will be followed shortly by its sedan sibling.

Other enhancements here include the new taillights, which will be specifically designed for the sedan. There is also a new rear bumper with a faux diffuser, as well as brand new eight-spoke alloy wheels. We forgot to mention the new rear lights as well.

The front also includes the two-tier style grille. The trunk has been sculpted in the same manner as the new Cruze. Body-colored side mirrors with integrated turn signals will be probably coming as option. In terms of power, the Chinese Aveo retains the same 1.4-liter DVVT engine coupled with the six-speed manual gearbox. The powerplant delivers up to 97 horsepower (71 kW).

Details and pricing of 2015 Chevrolet Aveo is expected to be announced close to launch.

  • Aveo Heads Euro NCAP Safety Ranking

2012-Chevrolet-Aveo-thumbChevrolet is building a reputation of a manufacturer that produces safe cars for the road which can only underline the already appealing character of its vehicles. The Aveo now is the latest Chevrolet with a 5-star Euro NCAP. Not only that but it is also the best in its class (the supermini segment).

Rigorously tested for virtually every scenario by NCAP, the Aveo scored an overall score of 85 out of 100 which is as high as it goes for cars from that segment. The Aveo fared particularly well in the key areas of adult and child occupant protection – 95 and 87 out of 100 respectively. And no wonder. The Aveo is packed full of safety technology. Six airbags as standard, all linked to a sensor box in the center of the car. Also a child-seat latching system is also standard. Things that keep the car on the road are things such as electronic stability control, traction control, a four-channel anti-lock braking system with brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution. For the more novice drivers, the Aveo also offers hill-start assist and cruise control with a speed limiter function.

“We take safety very seriously at Chevrolet and this class-leading result for the New Chevrolet Aveo proves this entirely,” said Mark Terry, Managing Director, Chevrolet UK. “Our whole model line-up provides impeccable safety credentials with the majority achieving a five star rating; it brings great peace of mind to our customers.”

The Aveo is not the only NCAP veteran here. Chevrolet has an extensive lineup of cars that have been awarded five stars in safety – Cruze, Captiva and Orlando all share that award. And the Volt (the electric one) was also given a five star award in 2011 proving that electric vehicles do not compromise safety.

“Instead, we’ve delivered a car that’s striking, bold and has attitude. It draws on our iconic models, such as the Camaro and Corvette, for its styling influence, with cues such as the distinctive round headlamps and dual-cockpit interior giving it a lot more personality than you’d normally find in this sector of the market.”, he added.

The LT trim level adds 15” alloy wheels, steering wheel audio controls, air conditioning, a four-way adjustable driver’s seat, sunglasses holder, a Driver Information Centre, Bluetooth phone compatibility, and a chrome gear knob surround. This model is priced at £10 995 with 1.2 liter petrol.

  • Chevrolet Aveo

Chevrolet AveoChevrolet Europe will present the Kalos’ successor at the Frankfurt Motor Show (13 to 23 September 2007). The most significant features of this completely reworked model are its striking exterior, its high-class interior and a new, even more efficient petrol engine. Like its notchback stable mate, the new hatchback model will now bear the Aveo name throughout Europe. Sales will start in March 2008.

The Aveo hatchback sports Chevrolet’s new design features, as characterised by the big horizontally split radiator grille with a body-coloured crossbeam and the brand logo sitting prominently in the center. The dynamic detailing includes large, curved, clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. In profile, the body’s prominent shoulder lines catch the eye, while the back of the car is dominated by the solid bumper and the round tail lamps in a clear-glass housing.

There is a choice of two petrol engines: a new 1.2-litre unit with an output of 84 hp, and the existing 1.4-litre engine, which now develops 98 hp and is available with automatic transmission.
