  • 2016 Buick Cascada Will Demonstrate Some Bold Style and Safety Features

2016 Buick Cascada convertible will be offered early the next year with numerous add-ons, that altogether bring a refined and stylish appearance, wonderful performance and versatility and of course, exceptional pleasure of driving.

What is different, is that the whole body construction now allows the top, the folding mechanism and the roll bar will be stowed below car’s “belt line” and under the hard cover, which will bring a smooth and stylish profile. This configuration also brings some more cargo space: 22.4-inch by 12.6-inch (320 mm by 570 mm) pass-through from the trunk to the passenger compartment. We all love the extra cargo volume, dont’we? Furthermore, when the 50/50-spit rear seat is folded, some long items, for example a snowboard, can be easily stowed inside. Handy.

And there are more examples of engineer wonders. For example, the roll bar system enables the rear-seat cargo pass-through and when it is deployed, the roll bars extend with about 14 inches to match the height of the windshield.

In fact, the whole reinforced body of the Cascada supports the roll bar system and brings some comfortable and pleasurable drive. Some more of the included elements are:

    • A-pillars featuring press-hardened steel in the inner structures and reinforced with high-strength, hot-rolled and cold-bent tubes within the pillars
    • Reinforced rocker panels with increased cross section
    • Underbody reinforcements including X-braces, V-braces and additional brackets
    • A reinforced “torsion box” bulkhead behind the rear seats that incorporates the pop-up roll bars

  • 2015 Opel Cascada Comes With Top Down and More Powerful Engine

2015 Opel Cascada comes with elegant lines, next-gen technology and extensive equipment. And now Opel offers even more spacious and more comfortable four-seater with numerous high-quality components and tweaks. The 2015 Cascada features incredible acoustic and thermal insulation. Furthermore the sophisticated top opens in just 17 seconds, which ensures a fast reaction, if the weather decides to change drastically.

And now the Opel brand geared the latest Cascada with a special 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, that was recently introduced with the Insignia and Zafira Tourer models. The engineering wonder produces a total of 170 hp (125 kW) and 400 Nm torque. Compared with its predecessor, the powerplant delivers three percent more power and 14 per cent more torque, but also better fuel efficiency. With the six-speed manual transmission the vehicle consumes about less than 5 liters per 100 km (62 miles) and delivers 129 g/km CO2 emissions.

The Euro 6 2.0 CDTI engine really makes a difference. Not only with the efficiency, but with the performance: the vehicle goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds and chases the top speed of 218 km/h. Something more. The vehicle goes from 80 to 120 km/h in fifth gear in only 9.3 seconds. This makes the car  seven-tenths faster than the older model.

The 2015 Opel Cascada prices start from $34,306

  • 2016 Buick Cascada Drops its Top at NAIAS

Another debut for Buick at this year’s NAIAS is making the Cascada Convertible. As a matter of fact, this will be the first Buick convertible offered in the United States in 25 years. The stylish car utilizes new powertrain and chassis technologies, and just like the Avenir Concept, it has room only for four. The rigid body structure of the car feature sophisticated HiPer Strut front suspension (based on the MacPherson strut design) and responsive Watts Z-link suspension in the rear. Oh, and have we mentioned the 200-horsepower (149 kW) that the turbocharged engine produces?

Since it is a convertible, it is important to mention that the top drops only for 17 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. When lowered, the top folds neatly and completely beneath a hard tonneau behind the rear seats, giving the car a pure open-air aesthetic.

The Cascada has a flowing, sculpted profile and windswept exterior design. Sleek headlamps flow into the front fenders, and feature integrated swing-shape light-emitting diode (LED) daytime running lights. Adding more to the distinctive appearance are the chrome trim bridges between the wing-shaped LED taillights.

Inside, the car is thoughtfully trimmed and comprehensively equipped. Take a look at the instrument panel, which is wrapped with soft-touch material. An authentic stitching is also at hand, while the heated front seats and steering wheel offer additional comfort.

The engaging driving experience is ensured by the 1.6L turbocharged powerplant, which is rated at 200 horsepower (149 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque. Direct injection and variable valve timing complement the turbo engine’s performance. The power unit is also backed by a six-speed automatic transmission.

The electric power steering system executes the steering inputs, while the stopping power is handled by standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes. Cascada runs on standard 20-inch wheels. The rigid body structure of the car includes a high-strength steel in strategic areas and it is the foundation for the Cascada’s driving experience. The wheelbase measures 106.1-inch (2,695 mm), which of course enhances ride smoothness while enabling greater rear-seat legroom.

The Cascada Convertible goes on sale in early 2016.

  • Vauxhall Cascada To Be Equipped With New Engine

2013-Vauxhall-Cascada-THUMBThe new Vauxhall Cascada is going to be equipped with new and more powerful engine which is to deliver 200 hp (147 kW) and generate 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque. The top speed of the vehicle is 146 mph. These figures are due to the high-performance version of the new 1.6 SIDI turbo engine.

The latter is going to make its world premiere next month at 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Moreover, the unit is one of the newly-designed Vauxhall four-cylinder SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) units. It will joins the existing 170 hp (125 kW) 1.6 SIDI turbo unit, which is standard on the production Cascada.

The 1.6-litre SIDI turbo unit delivers 11 per cent more power, but also 300 Nm maximum torque with overboost. This adds 70 Nm more, which is an increase of 30 per cent.

What is more, at the heart of the SIDI turbo is a new engine block. The latter is optimized and can withstand a maximum combustion pressure of up to 130 bar in the cylinder. The block is made of grey cast iron with an aluminium baseplate.

Another highlight that needs to be made is about the type of piston which was specifically developed for this unit. Its compression ratio was reduced from 10.5 to 9.5:1. Vauxhall engineers also aimed to achieve high power output with refinement. This was made possible through the optimization of vehicle’s induction and exhaust systems.

The end result is that the drivers and passengers will appreciate quiet and smooth ride regardless the road speeds, engine speeds and loads. Additionally, the HiPerStrut (High Performance Strut) front suspension improves more the optimized driving characteristics.

The new top-of-the-line petrol engine extends the Cascada powertrain portfolio. It joins the 1.4 turbo 140 hp (103 kW) as well as the 170 hp (125 kW) 1.6-litre petrol direct injection unit. The diesel units available are the 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 165 hp (121 kW) and the 195 hp (143 kW) 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI one.

The new Vauxhall Cascada equipped with 1.6 SIDI turbo engine matched with a six-speed manual transmission can be ordered from October.
