Cadillac CTS facelift MY2017Cadillac releases CTS and ATS facelifts

Cadillac ATS and CTS are currently in production for the new 2017 model year, offering some key refinements that need to be addressed. The new trim levels highlight models’ class-leading muscular stance and driving dynamics more than ever before.

By the way, Cadillac CTS Sedan is in its third generation already and has received some important accolades. It has been named by Car and Driver “10 Best” for three years in a row now, while Motor Trend said that in 2014 it is the “Car of the Year” giving it the respectful award. As for the ATS product line, we should say that it is brand’s most compact and sporty entry! It won both the Esquire Car of the Year and the North American Car of the Year award back in 2013.

The Carbon Black sport package is for those always looking to get more from life. It adds two new exterior colors and wheels. Updates have been made to the CUE infotainment system, which now features many goodies as a standard, for instance: myCadillac Mobile App, Teen Driver and Cadillac Collection. On the side of standard features is the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

To sum up, the refinements that Cadillac makes for 2017 model year are not big, but they are most certainly satisfying, bringing more convenience and style to the future owners.

  • Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade Get New 3.6-liter V6 Engine

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade are going to get as a standard additional dynamic driving performance to its range of features. At the moment is the start of the 2016 model year production and this means more benefits for these Cadillac models in terms of fuel-saving technologies. Precisely, they include Active Fuel Management and Automatic Stop/Start technologies and 8-speed transmission. They not only lift the fuel economy ratings, but also minimize the CO2 emissions, something regarded very important nowadays.

    3.6-liter V6 Engine

    2016 Cadillac CTS Sedan

This is Cadillac’s absolutely new six-cylinder engine. Thanks to its Active Fuel Management or cylinder deactivation, it can switch from six-cylinder to four-cylinder operation. Meanwhile it still maintains excellent performance. The unit will be offered for the engine range of the aforementioned models.

Furthermore, the V8 in the luxury SUV will shift to four-cylinder operation and so will do the high performance CTS-V sedan.

The ATS and the CTS can be also equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For the 2016 model year, this engine will also get the Automatic Start/Stop, or AutoStop, technology. How do there systems work: the reduce emissions and fuel consumption by automatically turning off the engine when the car is stationary. After the brake is released, the engine quickly and automatically resumes.

As a result, the new Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade owners will deliver cleaner and more fuel-efficient perspectives of driving. And by the way, the CO2 output has been reduced up to 6 percent on the ATS and CTS, which is pretty impressive. Maybe Volkswagen can learn something from that.

  • 2017 Cadillac Vehicles to be Equipped with new Vehicle Technologies

2015-Cadillac-CTS-THUMBCadillac has announced that in two years it will begin offering advanced “intelligent and connected” vehicle technologies. The announcement was made by General Motors CEO Mary Barra this Sunday during her keynote address at the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) World Congress in Detroit. Some of Cadillac’s 2017 model year vehicles will offer the advanced driver assist technology called Super Cruise.

In addition, the 2017 Cadillac CTS will be equipped with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication technology. Barra said that General Motors is taking these giant leaps forward to remain a leader of new technology, and because of customer’s demand. The ultimate goal is through technology and innovation to make driving safer.

Super Cruise is just a working name for GM’s automated driving technology. It will offer customers a new type of driving experience, including hands-off lane following, braking and speed control. What is more, this system has been created in order to bring about more comfort to the attentive driver on freeways, both in bumper-to-bumper traffic and on long road trips.

Next, the V2V communication technology could help reducing many traffic collisions and improve traffic congestion. It will make this possible via sending and receiving basic safety information such as location, speed and direction. In this way it will warn drivers and it can also supplement active safety features, such as forward collision warning.

  • 2015 Cadillac CTS Facelift

Cadillac has announced the 2015 CTS Facelift, which will come with minor styling change and some new technologies.

The manufacturer didn’t release any pictures, but the new CTS will come with a revised grille and the controversial crest known from the 2015 ATS Coupe. There will be also active grille shutters and a Galvano chrome grille for the normal models. The V-Sport will have a black chrome grille. 2015 Cadillac CTS will be also available in two new colors: Crystal White Tricoat and Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic.

The interior boasts new color and trim combinations and OnStar 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. The CUE infotainment system also gains a Text Message Alerts function, a new Teen Driver function, which record almost everything including mileage, wide-open throttle events, ABS events, maximum speed and other data. • Cadillac 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 engine [video]

Cadillac has published a video featuring the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 engine that will power the 2014 CTS Vsport and 2014 XTS Vsport models. The engine kicks turbo lag to the curb with a unique combination of smaller turbochargers, top-mounted throttle body and shorter air pathways.

Air flow routing volume is reduced by more than 60 % when compared with a conventional design that features a chassis-mounted heat exchanger. The water-to-air cooler system achieves more than 80 % cooling efficiency with only about 1 psi (7 kPa) flow restriction at peak power
    for fast torque production.

    The 3.6 twin-turbo V6 produces 420HP (313 kW) and 583Nm (430 lb-ft) of torque in the CTS Vsport, while the XTS Vsport will have 410HP (305 kW) and 500Nm (369 lb-ft).

Both models will hit the market this fall and CTS VSport will be priced from $59,995, while the XTS VSport will be sold for $63,020.

  • 2014 Cadillac CTS Reveals New Design Approaches

2014-Cadillac-CTS-THUMBWhen one looks more deeply at the 2014 Cadillac CTS he or she reveals that some new design approaches have been applied on it. We are speaking here about the new form and function of the headlamps.

The new luxury sport sedan combines light-emitting diode and high intensity discharge lights in order to create a sleeker new “face” for this Cadillac model. In particular, the CTS sedan includes 16 indirect fire LED lights on each headlamp with eight LEDs beginning on the fender of the car and an additional eight LEDs continuing down the front bumper. The eight LED lights on the front bumper also double as a turn indicator.

As a matter of fact, all of these LEDs when combined together operate as a single day-time running lights. The main headlights or the projectors are composed of a single HID element that serves as both low and high beams. In addition, the Active Forward Lighting delivers more clear vision through corners by turning with steering direction.

2014 Cadillac CTS was recently introduced at this year’s New York International Auto Show. The model delivers expanded performance, elevated luxury and sophisticated technology. This is the third-generation CTS. It combines engineering and design solutions from the architecture of the ATS sport sedan and will be the lightest car its class.

  • Cadillac Adds Two New Limited Edition Models To The CTS Range

Cadillac-CTS-V-Coupe-Silver-Frost-THUMBMatte-finished Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Silver-Frost and the performance-inspired Cadillac CTS-V Stealth Blue are the two new limited editions that the Cadillac will add to its CTS line-up.

In particular, the Silver Frost Edition will be a special run of 100 CTS-V Coupes that will include a special low-gloss matte paint finish. This special paint finish will be available on collector-edition vehicles.

The model will be equipped with the 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine which develops 556 horsepower (410 kW) and 551 lb-ft (747 Nm) of torque. The Silver Frost CTS-V model will also include the following optional equipment: yellow or red Brembo brake calipers, high polished or satin graphite wheels, suede-covered steering wheel and shift knob.

To be even more precise, the desired finish on the Silver Frost CTS-V coupe was achieved by applying a “30-gloss” clear coat to the paint. In comparison, in standard paint finishes is used the “80-gloss” clear coat. However, the paint will still emit a low “sparkle” when certain lights reflect off it, but the finish will be distinctly “matte”.

An important note here is that although the visual appearance of the car is perfect, in order to stay such, this Cadillac model should be hand-washed only. This is because the paint is engineered to be as durable as normal paint. And in addition, because the paint texture is also noticeably different to the touch (finish will be slightly less smooth).

On the other hand the Stealth Blue Edition has an outstanding new color in a more traditional metallic finish. This model will have a limited production run starting in March and will be available on the CTS coupe and all CTS-V models. What is more, the CTS coupe, V coupe and sedan models will be also offered in an optional “Twilight Blue” leather interior package.

Some of the optional highlights included in the Stealth Blue CTS model are: satin graphite wheels with silver calipers, dark finish grille, recaro performance seats.
