  • Daring GeigerCars.de project shows us the dark side of Cadillac ATS-V Coupe

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black LineSporty car enthusiasts and tuners usually have certain “sweet spot” for the vehicles that they tune. What I mean is that tuners chose certain brands and models, when it comes to aggressive high power output upgrade. And usually no one places Cadillac brand on the top of their list.

However, GeigerCars.de team decided to take a closer look to the Cadillac ATS-V Coupe and step out of the comfort zone. The final result is called Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line and it is worth checking out!

We all know that usually Cadi vehicles got a reputation of massive, elegant and luxurious vehicles that are not specifically created for super-fast lap times and agile cornering, but hey, who said engineers cannot try to achieve it? Let’s check out the final result, shall we?

    Exterior styling

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line

We see a beautiful and massive Cadillac machine. Many of the original signature lines and curves are present: the feeling of luxury, the proportions and the feeling of elegance. What the tuning team has done is to lower the overall height with a total of 25mm and add some sporty features as side skirts, carbon-fiber components and these neat and beautiful OZ Leggera alloys. As we see it, the concept theme for the looks is simple, straightforward and stylish. Of course, the prefferred color is black, which is always a good choice. We love it

    Interior styling

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Twin Turbo Black Line

Concept idea: simple and functional. Especially simple. What we got here is a super clean cabin with Recaro sporty seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and a massive Bose audio system. Definitely created to keep the focus of the driver on the road, the interior styling completely resembles the sportiness and aggressiveness of the machine.

    Drivetrain system

Now we are talking. The vehicle has a total power input of 508hp (374kW) via a 3.6-liter  twin-turbo V6 engine and a peak torque of 659Nm. What this means is that the upgraded vehicle can reach a top speed of 312km/h (173kW). The engineering team has also included a whole performance package with numerous hardware and software goodies. There is a stainless-steel cat-back, valve control sports exhaust with X-pipe and a 110mm diameter tailpipes. Sweet. Of course, optimised fuel consumption, turbo boost function and remapped ECU are all present.

  • Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade Get New 3.6-liter V6 Engine

2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade are going to get as a standard additional dynamic driving performance to its range of features. At the moment is the start of the 2016 model year production and this means more benefits for these Cadillac models in terms of fuel-saving technologies. Precisely, they include Active Fuel Management and Automatic Stop/Start technologies and 8-speed transmission. They not only lift the fuel economy ratings, but also minimize the CO2 emissions, something regarded very important nowadays.

    3.6-liter V6 Engine

    2016 Cadillac CTS Sedan

This is Cadillac’s absolutely new six-cylinder engine. Thanks to its Active Fuel Management or cylinder deactivation, it can switch from six-cylinder to four-cylinder operation. Meanwhile it still maintains excellent performance. The unit will be offered for the engine range of the aforementioned models.

Furthermore, the V8 in the luxury SUV will shift to four-cylinder operation and so will do the high performance CTS-V sedan.

The ATS and the CTS can be also equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. For the 2016 model year, this engine will also get the Automatic Start/Stop, or AutoStop, technology. How do there systems work: the reduce emissions and fuel consumption by automatically turning off the engine when the car is stationary. After the brake is released, the engine quickly and automatically resumes.

    2016 Cadillac Escalade

As a result, the new Cadillac ATS, CTS and Escalade owners will deliver cleaner and more fuel-efficient perspectives of driving. And by the way, the CO2 output has been reduced up to 6 percent on the ATS and CTS, which is pretty impressive. Maybe Volkswagen can learn something from that.

  • 2014 Cadillac CTS Reveals New Design Approaches

2014-Cadillac-CTS-THUMBWhen one looks more deeply at the 2014 Cadillac CTS he or she reveals that some new design approaches have been applied on it. We are speaking here about the new form and function of the headlamps.

The new luxury sport sedan combines light-emitting diode and high intensity discharge lights in order to create a sleeker new “face” for this Cadillac model. In particular, the CTS sedan includes 16 indirect fire LED lights on each headlamp with eight LEDs beginning on the fender of the car and an additional eight LEDs continuing down the front bumper. The eight LED lights on the front bumper also double as a turn indicator.

As a matter of fact, all of these LEDs when combined together operate as a single day-time running lights. The main headlights or the projectors are composed of a single HID element that serves as both low and high beams. In addition, the Active Forward Lighting delivers more clear vision through corners by turning with steering direction.

2014 Cadillac CTS was recently introduced at this year’s New York International Auto Show. The model delivers expanded performance, elevated luxury and sophisticated technology. This is the third-generation CTS. It combines engineering and design solutions from the architecture of the ATS sport sedan and will be the lightest car its class.

  • Cadillac Burning Rubber on The Nürburgring

The Nordschleife, the Northern Loop or quite simply the Nürburgring is the name of the notorious racing track based in Germany. Why notorious? Well, tragically many people have lost their lives along its corners. There is some silver lining to the story however, as it has also helped shape the automotive industry by providing grounds for testing, fine-tuning and refinement.
And now a Cadillac team of engineers along with Dave Mikels (energy and powertrain integration engineer) have traveled all the way from from Michigan to the Nürburgring ring to develop their future ATS luxury compact sedan.

Being Nürburgring-certified performance test drivers, Mikels and his team will test out their 270 horsepower 2.0L turbo four-cylinder and 3.6L V-6 engines, along with the second- generation Cadillac Magnetic Ride Control suspension. Here is what they had to say about the ring:

“There are places where you’re airborne, and then there are valleys where you’re in full compression. There are off-camber, on-camber turns. There’s no other place in the world where you can test for all of that, except here.”

After gathering a sufficient amount of data, the ATS development team can send it back to their Michigan factory for processing all in the name of improving the Cadillac’s track run.
More information on the ATS will be available on the 2012 NAIAS when it will be its first public debut.
