    2021 MINI Cooper Cabrio1

With the large-scale revival of the MINI brand from 2001 onwards, BMW achieved a real coup. The portfolio includes not only the original small cars, but also, as is well known, various other variants that have clearly outgrown this class – such as Clubman and Countryman. What all versions have in common is that they are extremely popular and celebrate impressive successes. In the tuning area, the sporty versions Cooper S and John Cooper Works in particular met with a great response. But the convertible shown here shows that the slightly more well-behaved MINI Cooper can also be customized in the form of a high-quality wheel set from Barracuda Racing Wheels.

The British open-air fun-maker, painted in bright red, has the trendy Tzunamee EVO alloy wheels in the dimensions 8×18 inches with a dark gunmetal finish, including partially brushed fronts. The mounted tires measure 215/40R18. In order to adjust the new wheel / tire combinations harmoniously under the fenders, H&R lowering springs were installed on both axles, which reduce the ground clearance by around 35 millimeters.

  • Nissan GT-R Cabrio by Newport Convertible Engineering

The tuning specialists from Newport Convertible Engineering, who have already chopped off the roof of the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover Evoque and Toyota Prius, now unveiled Nissan GT-R Cabrio.

NCE didn’t release any specific details about the special GT-R, but there are three different designs for a GT-R Cabrio available only through a custom order. These include a dual hump behind the driver and passenger, a fixed roll bar and a design without the roll bar.

    Of course, the GT-R Convertible will be a lot heavier, but it already has plenty of power. As a reminder – VR38DETT engine – a 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V6 with 550HP (400 kW) at 6,400 RPM and 632Nm (466 lb-ft) of torque at 3,200RPM. 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph).

However, GT-R Cabrio is a brilliant idea, because the car is now even more spectacular.

  • Kia Forte Cabrio [render]

X-Tomi Design has published a render picture of a cabrio version of the 2014 Kia Forte (also known as Cerato or K3). The manufacturer is currently selling the second-gen Forte as a five-door hatchback, four-door sedan and as a two-door coupe.

So a convertible model is a very good idea, which can attract more customers. The segment for affordable cabriolets isn’t overly crowded, that’s why a low-priced Forte Cabrio could be a hit in this department.

The Forte Cabrio is based on the 2-door coupe and it has a nice attractive exterior. Obviously, there isn’t much space at the rear seats, but the model will certainly draw some attention in the entry-level convertible segment.

  • Hamann BMW 3er Series Cabrio

HAMANN BMW 3 Series E 93 CabrioHAMANN from Laupheim, Germany, has already begun with modifications for the youngest 3-Series Convertible. An aerodynamic kit, power boost, new wheels, suspension components, as well stylish interior enhances the sporty elegant features and improves driving performance of this bavarian beauty

Power boost for gas engines and diesels

HAMANN boosts the power in this Convertible by means of optized curved maps. Meaning, the electronic power boost is achieved by recalibrating the standard ECU. The four-cylinder model 320i receives HAMANN´s boost of 10 HP / 7 kW and 10 Nm torque. Enough to speed up the 320i to 233 km/h (standard: 228). The six-cylinder gas engines 325i and 330i experience a plus of 13 HP / 10 kW and 17 HP/ 12 kW and both about 25 Nm torque as well. Top speed climbs to 250, respektively 265 km/h (standard: 325i 245 km/h, 330i 250 km/h). Included in price for the 330i is deactivation of 250 km/h speed restriction.

Likewise the 335i receives a power boost from 37 HP / 27 kW and an impressive 279 km/h top speed. For easier “breathing“ capabilities of the 6-cylinder model HAMANN offers a sport air filter. For the current diesel model 330d customers can expect a significant power boost of 272 HP/ 200 kW making possible a top speed of 256 km/h (standard: 245) and 600 Nm at 2000 rpm/min.

By fitting a HAMANN 4-pipe sports rear muffler with four round tailpipes, the 335i publicizes it’s power. The four stainless steel tailpipes, each 76mm in diameter, make the rear end of this Convertible even more attractive.

    Powerful sport aerodynamics

BMW tailored beautiful body-work for the 3-series Convertible. HAMANN provides customers a even more individual look with specially powerful enhancement. Fitted to the standard bumper is a new, distinctive sportier looking HAMANN designed front spoiler. The visual lowering effect created by the new side sills, lend the side view more character. The buoyancy reducing rear spoiler in combination with the new HAMANN rear center molding designed for conjunction with the HAMANN 4-pipe sport muffler, incorporates matching cutouts for the tailpipes and is a real eye-catcher. Fitted black Carbon-Kevlar mirror caps lends the HAMANN 3-Series Convertible that final polished look.

    Wheels from 18 to 20-inches

HAMANN really goes to town when it comes to wheels. Three unique individual designs and three sizes from 18 to 20 inch make selection difficult. A multispoke design is featured in the single-piece rim “Anniversary I“ is available in ’silver’ finish and features an outer rim with an INOX steel lip. HAMANN offers it in 18, 19 and 20 inch versions. The wheel PG3 is a multiple five-spoke composite wheel in silver with a high-gloss polished rim flange. Here customers can choose between sizes 19 and 20 inches.

Unquestionably, 20 inch wheels suit the customized 3-Series Convertible best. HAMANN offers this size as top model design „Edition Race“. The appearance of this three piece, ultra-lightweight, forged rim is a cross-spoke design with a black spider characterized by the 9 main spokes, each of which branches outwards into 2 further spokes. Following this exciting design, the titanium bolts are a particularly attention-getting design. The high-gloss rim flange adds the finishing touch to this stylish look.

Choice of combination with wider rear axle tires is possible for all 19 and 20 inch versions from Anniversary I and PG3 as in the case of Edition Race wheels as well. HAMANN provides advice as requested regarding all possible combinations.

Better handling and powerful gripping brakes

By fitting a suspension lowering kit comprising of four progressive suspension struts, HAMANN succeeds in lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity by 35 mm front and by 20 mm rear. For vehicles with sport suspension tuning systems from stock, that’s still around 15 mm. In both cases, a clearly better handling results. Among race drives it is said “races are won on the brakes“. For those who prefer to use somewhat more rapid acceleration, HAMANN program suggests powerful gripping brakes for security purposes!

Interior designed with numerable accessories creates an even more pleasurable stay in HAMANN´s 3-Series Cabrio. Thanks to the three-spoke HAMANN airbag sports steering wheel, the driver’s hands always hold the reins securely. A sporty flair is added by the decorative carbon-fiber components, which HAMANN fits to the dashboard, center console, ashtray trim, doors, steering wheel, gearshift knob, handbrake lever and the I-Drive-Controller. HAMANN adds further sporty nuances in the form of sport gearshift knobs (in aluminum or leather/aluminum), aluminum pedals, an aluminum handbrake lever and an aluminum footrest. An exclusive set of floor mats sporting the HAMANN logo in silver rounds off the interior offerings.

Of course, HAMANN customizes every 3-Series to individual customer requests. For example, luxurious leather upholsteries in a variety of colors are possible, as are extensive multimedia conversions featuring DVD player, TV or Playstation.

  • AC Schnitzer S3 Cabrio

A Convertible provides the ultimate for the senses: Where can you experience driving more directly than in an open car, with the wind gently emphasising the acceleration, the acoustic muscle play of the engine teasing your ears, and a breathtaking silhouette reflected in every shop window. The new BMW 3-series Convertible, a complete car with folding hard top, stimulates the automotive pleasure centre without setting reason aside. When you’ve had one taste, you soon long for more – for example the ACS3 3.5i Convertible.

In designing the bodykit, the objective for AC Schnitzer was not to hide the body contours under excessive bulges, but to emphasise the natural characteristics of the vehicle in a structured way. So the front skirt, which simultaneously increases downforce, in its basic design follows the threepiece original but it is substantially  softer, more facetted and more energetic.  Like the AC Schnitzer side skirts which aesthetically highlight the side crease of the Convertible body and with their asymmetric lines, rising towards the back,  emphasise  the  sporting abilities of the vehicle even when stopped. Its charm is enhanced with the clearly marked AC Schnitzer Racing rims type IV  in silver, which at the front measure 9.0Jx20″ and at the rear 10.0Jx20″ (tyres 245/30R20 and 295/25R20). As an alternative, the dark  Type IV BiColor  wheels in 8.5Jx19″ at the front and 9.5Jx19″ at the rear give the BMW a hint of Badboy (tyres 225/35R19 and 255/30R19).

Although the classic rear view of the new 3-series Convertible is already eyecatching, the AC Schnitzer design language with its more strongly contoured rear skirt expresses  extra sporting ambitions with no loss of credibility or coherence. The twin flow  left/right tailpipes of the AC Schnitzer exhaust contribute to the neat overall impression not just visually but, with the gas pedal pressed, also acoustically with a unique crescendo. The twin sports rear silencer is enhanced by tailpipe trims in “Racing” design, which visually suggest a stylised horizontal figure eight, the mathematical symbol for “infinity”. A reference to the enormous power reserves of the vehicle, expressed above all in the superb BMW six cylinder twin turbo, a power plant which has been praised unanimously by the trade press, and which with its 306 HP/225 kW has caused worries for many competitors. The duel would be even more difficult for them with the AC Schnitzer performance kit  which is currently in development. The 335d will also soon undergo a power make-over at Aachen. For the 3.0 litre diesel (standard 231 HP/170 kW) the tuners already offer a Power-Plus pack that increases the power to 265 HP/195 kW. Power reserves which the chassis can handle easily thanks to fine tuning by AC Schnitzer
