  • Russian Premiere for Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Roadster

Bugatti-Veyron-164-Grand-Sport-Vitesse-Roadster-THUMBBugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Roadster is the fastest production roadster ever created! And it has just made its first appearance at the International Motor Show in Moscow.

This open-top version of the Grand Sport delivers 882 kW (1200 hp) reached at 6,400 rpm. The remarkable maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (at 3,000–5,000 rpm) it delivers from its 7.9-liter W16 engine.

These figures allow the car to reach 100 km/h in unbelievable 2.6 seconds. The top speed here is of 410 km/h (255 mph). These numbers say only one thing, the four-wheel drive Vitesse is the fastest production roadster ever!

In order to achieve this outstanding performance, the engineers optimized the drive system. The 199 hp increase over the Grand Sport has been achieved by using four larger turbochargers with new intercoolers.

Next, the gearing of the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) in particular has been adapted to the new requirements as well. In this context, the air ducting in the area of the drivetrain was also improved.

The effect is larger turbochargers and the overall reduced back pressure. And interestingly enough, despite the enhanced output, it was possible to reduce the fuel consumption as well.

The control of the vehicle has been further enhanced and perfectly balanced. The wheel-load fluctuations have been additionally reduced and now allow a maximum level of active safety.

Furthermore, Bugatti developed a new roof spoiler for the new Vitesse which significantly reduces wind noise. This also makes possible the extremely relaxed, open-top driving even at speeds of around 200 km/h (124 mph).

The front end here is characterized by larger air intakes; in addition the two central air intakes to the left and right of the Bugatti radiator grille are divided horizontally by a bar. The bottom air vent stretches sideways into the wheel housing and gives the Bugatti a masterful appearance.

Below this air intake there is a new visually refined front spoiler that has been designed in a similar way to the splitters used in motor racing. Another new feature here is the improved xenon headlights framed in black.

Next, the rear end includes a double diffusor and a centrally positioned twin tailpipe. A new Park Distance Control system (PDC) watches over the front and the rear.

The interior of this Bugatti is dominated by carbon fiber and stainless metals such as aluminium and magnesium. For instance the center console extension, a cover with EB logo in the rear-bulkhead leather trim and the belt outlet covers on the seats are made from carbon fiber.

The same material is used for the center console, the door inserts and the adjoining trim on the instrument panel. And on the armrest between the seats contrasting stitching is included.

Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse is painted in all black with red rims in a diamond pattern. Its carmine red interior and seats convey an aggressive, dynamic look. Only 300 units will be produced, each of which costs 1 790 000 euros.

  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition Debuts at The Quail

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition is the most powerful roadster ever created by the luxury brand. Painted in unique Bianco and New Light Blue color scheme, the supercar was publicly presented for the first time at “The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering”.

The color combination of this Bugatti was inspired on the popular 1928 Type 37A model, which won a multitude of Grand Prix races.

The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse shows remarkable maximum torque of 1,500 Nm (at 3,000–5,000 rpm) from the 7.9-liter capacity of its W16 engine. The maximum output here is 1200 hp (882 kW) and is reached at 6,400 rpm.

This means that the car effortlessly reaches an acceleration time of 2.6 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph) makes the four-wheel drive Vitesse the fastest production roadster ever. Vitesse has an electronically limited speed of 375 km/h (233 mph).

These numbers mean basically that the new model adds 199 hp to the Grand Sport. This was achieved by using four larger turbochargers with new intercoolers. Bugatti has also modified the air ducting in the area of the drivetrain.

Additional result is an overall reduced back pressure and reduced the fuel consumption. The fuel system, with a four-pump tank, has been taken from the Super Sport.

Some modifications have been done to the chassis as well, in order to put the unrivalled power onto the road absolutely safely. Quick-responding dampers that have been adapted from motor racing, the control of the vehicle has been further enhanced and perfectly balanced.

The supercar was equipped with new lighter 20-inch “Vitesse”-type alloy wheels. Combined with the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, this ensures very good handling. Furthermore, Bugatti has adapted the brake-cooling system as well. The brakes are unparalleled in terms of stability and performance and now get larger air intakes.

A significant decrease in wind noise was achieved through the newly developed roof spoiler. Another innovation included in the roadster is the new windbreak, which can be stored away compactly in the luggage compartment.

Numerous aerodynamic improvements are also included. The front end now has larger air intakes; the two central air intakes to the left and right of the Bugatti radiator grille, which are divided horizontally by a bar.

New and visually refined front spoiler has also been featured. The xenon headlights, which can be seen in the Super Sport model, are now framed in black. Moreover, the rear end now includes double diffuser and a centrally positioned twin tailpipe.

The Park Distance Control system (PDC) included here observes carefully the front and the rear. In addition, the two air scoops on the left and right of the engine cover are a main characteristic of the model. They serve to pull in air for the engine and as a part of elegantly integrated anti-roll protection system.

For the entire outer skin of this Bugatti is used carbon fiber and. This is the predominant material utilized in the interior as well. It can be seen on the following parts: the center console extension, a cover with EB logo in the rear-bulkhead leather trim (between the seat backrests) and the belt outlet covers on the seats, the décor on the center console, the door inserts and the adjoining trim on the instrument panel.

Contrasting stitching is also included on the leather armrest between the seats. Some new features here are the knee pads in the center tunnel area, the additional 12 V socket (in the glove compartment), the restraint systems, the illuminated start and parking lock button, the instrument cluster with shift-up information and the power gauge that now goes up to 1200 hp.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition version costs $2 500 000.

  • Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse Debut at Geneva

Bugatti-Veyron-Grand-Sport-Vitesse-thumbThe Lamborghini Aventador J that is currently on a stand at the Geneva Motor Show is without question a magnificent looking roadster. Powerful too, with 700 BHP to play with. But, its mad looks and the fact that it has no windshield render it a bit silly. It shouldn’t be taken as a joke in any case, it can still shed your face off, but it’s all a bit of fun, it relies on flamboyancy and spunk. It beats its chest that it is what it is – a Lamborghini titan of hypercars.

However, the Aventador J does not, in any possible way, overshadow that other roadster at the show. I am talking about the god of hypercars (with a haircuts) – Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse.

As far as the figures are concerned, today this is the fastest open-top in the world. The Vitesse builds on the success of the previous Grand Sport that had “mere” 1001 ponies at its disposal. Now, by overhauling the four turbos and intercoolers, Bugatti have made the Vitesse more Super Sport-worthy. Let’s sum it up: a 7.9 liter W16 engine that brings 1,200 BHP and 1500 Nm of torque to all four wheels. The top speed is 410 kph or 255 mph (limited to 375 kph/233 mph). A zero to sixty time – 2.6 seconds. Yikes!

That new-found power has triggered an inevitable chain reaction that jolts trough the whole Veyron construction. Bugatti has promptly reinforced all drivetrain components in order to safely transfer the immense forces at any given moment. The bits within the 7-speed DSG gearbox have been specially modified to cope fairly with the new stresses. The same goes for the airflow that used to run through the components of the previous Grand Sport. It has now been further optimized. Ironically, somehow with the more power, the fuel economy has also been improved.

The chassis has had some work done. New, “quick-responding” dampers have been fitted which literally obliterate the possibility of body roll or pitching during braking or accelerating. The ESP has been revised to “lag” just a little bit after shooting out form a corner so that you can have that millisecond of slipperishness. Additionally, the brakes are now being cooled more efficiently in order for them to cope with the increased power.

Many aerodynamic components from the Super Sport have been picked off, redesigned and stuck to the Grand Sport Vitesse. At the front, bigger air intakes around the center grille, slashed with a line horizontally, give the car some identity. The bottom air vent stretches sideways into the wheel housing and gives this exceptional sports car an extremely masterful appearance. Further down, there is a newly made front spoiler. The Headlights, with their black frames are also new. The rear end also comes from the Super Sport but with two diffusers and two tailpipes clustered in the middle. All-new, lighter 20-inch “Vitesse”-type alloy wheels complete the picture

The two highest points of the car are the air scoops on the engine cover. Familiar from the Grand Sport, these are now again redesigned for the Vitesse and also act as components of an anti-roll protection system. Needless to say, that just like its predecessor, the Vitesse is virtually made all from carbon fiber.

Since you can go your way with the customization process, the end products may vary. That is why at the Geneva Motor Show there are two Vitesse configurations – one is in a strikingly blue, exposed carbon fiber finish and the other in “JetGrey” coating with an orange interior and black rims and grille. For the more conventional Veyron fans there’s also a classic Grand Sport version present just to remind you that it still exists.
