Subaru announces details for the new 2022 BRZ sportscar

2022 Subaru BRZ Subaru of America, Inc. announced details for the new 2022 BRZ rear-wheel drive car. More aggressive in performance and with bolder design, the second-generation BRZ arrives at retailers this fall.

Drivetrain system

2022 BRZ is powered by a new 2.4-liter naturally aspirated 228hp SUBARU BOXER power unit, mated to a six-speed close-ratio gearbox.

Additionally, driver-focused systems include Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking System, Lane Departure and Sway Warning and Lead Vehicle Start Alert that altogether contribute to more rewarding driving experience.

Interior design

The cockpit of the new sports-car is entirely driver-focused and performance-oriented. The clean lines and minimalistic approach makes instruments and controls easily visible and accessible.

The cabin features black upholstery with contrasting red stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel, shifter boot and parking brake boot. The front seats are performance-oriented and are covered in Limited trim with Ultrasuede.

Additional interior goodies include a new SUBARU STARLINK 8.0-inch Multimedia Plus Infotainment system, Integrated Center Information Display, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and Sirius XM services.

The list of standard features includes a TORSEN® limited-slip differential, Keyless Access with Push Button Start, LED headlights (low and high beam) with automatic height adjustment, Vehicle Stability Control with Track Mode, 17-inch alloy wheels in dark gray finish, dual-zone automatic climate control, Incline Start Assist, heated exterior power mirrors, power fuel-door lock, power windows with auto up/down and pinch protection, rear center console storage box with USB ports and auxiliary input jack, variable intermittent windshield wipers with new speed-sensing mist feature, and Welcome Lighting.

Sporty, distinctive and limited, the 2017 BRZ Series.Yellow is here!

2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow Subaru of America, Inc announced the 2017 BRZ Series.Yellow This special lineup, limited to 500 vehicles comes in distinctive exterior finish and is by far brand’s most exciting BRZ up to date.

This is a vehicle that is immediately recognizable by its yellow color, special black alloy wheels, black BRZ and SUBARU badging and black exterior mirrors. And based on the 2017 Limited model with Performance Pack, the Series.Yellow also delivers some enhanced and refined driving experience. Thanks to the upgraded Brembo four-piston calipers and rotors on the front and dual-piston calipers and rotors to the rear the vehicle offers noticeable boost in the stopping power, fade resistance and pedals feel. Furthermore, the SACHS Performance shock absorbers contribute to smoother handling and improved stability.

BRZ Series.Yellow is geared with a 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER power unit, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Some of the improvements for 2017 include friction reduction, new aluminum intake manifold and improved exhaust manifold. These improvements boost the overall engine output to 205hp (152kW) and 156 lb-ft of torque. The engineering team also managed to improve acceleration by lowering the final drive ratio from 4.1 to 4.3:1. Sweet.

Exterior changes

Some of the many visual improvements and changes include new front bumper cover, fresh headlights in the style of “kono-ji” with Daytime Running Lights while the turn signals and position lights have been integrated into the redesigned headlight for cleaner design and refined look.

Furthermore, all 2017 BRZ models receive a pedestal-style aluminum rear spoiler that matches the body color. This new design is not only beautiful and distinctive, but also contributes to vehicle’s downforce. Sweet.

Interior improvements

Standard for the lineup is the 4.2-inch LCD multifunction display, placed on the right of the tachometer. It displays all kinds of information about the vehicle, including lateral Gs, accelerator pedal position, braking force, steering angle, oil and water temperature, battery voltage and more.

2017 Subaru BRZ Series.Yellow

Series.Yellow vehicles are offered with black leather and Alcantara upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching on the seats, door and dash panels, steering wheel, knee pads and shifter boot. Of course, there are the yellow BRZ logo on the front seatback and on the carpet floor mats.

Also, some of the technology goodies include AM/FM stereo with HD Radio, Single-disc in-dash CD player with 8 speakers, Subaru STARLINK smartphone integration with Pandora and Aha, Subaru STARLINK apps as iHeart and Stitcher, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and more.

Subaru BRZ Smashes Guinness World Record for the “Tightest 360° Spin” [VIDEO]

Subaru BRZ front view Subaru BRZ and the stunt driver and former world record holder Alastair Moffatt set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Tightest 360° spin’. The rear-wheel drive BRZ sportscar and the famous petrolhead made it into the record books at the Autosport International Show over the weekend, by executing the world’s tightest ever 360 degree spin.

But Moffatt is not new to record-breaking. He has previous experience setting extreme Guinness World Records such as ‘Tightest Reverse Parallel Park’ and ‘Tightest Parallel Park’. Now, with this achievement the stunt-driver ace smashed the previous 2.5-metre Guinness World Record, which was made in 2014.

He managed to flick the BRZ into a 360° spin between two obstacles in Autosport International’s Live Action Arena, traveling at a speed of 30mph down a narrow lane of cars. Then he spun his Subaru BRZ 360 degrees then accelerated to the end of the course. Everything has happened in one continuous motion.

Moffatt’s BRZ car was 4.24-metre-long and the gap allowed for just 2.25m of clearance for him to complete the stunt. And this is how he broke the previous record of 2.5m. Of course, if it wasn’t the Subaru BRZ, which is renowned for its low centre of gravity and naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre ‘Boxer’ engine, he probably wouldn’t make it.

The driver also said that in order to maximize the control over the car throughout the maneuver, the traction control was switched off and ABS disengaged. Alastair also spoke about that he was impressed by BRZ because of the combination it offers, namely: lightweight, rear wheel drive and highly controllable chassis. He admitted that the Subaru BRZ “was the perfect car in which to do it.”

Subaru Announced Details for 2016 BRZ Lineup

Subaru of America, Inc. today revealed details for the 2016 BRZ Line. Coming with competitive pricing and geared with 200-hp 2.0-liter BOXER powerplant the vehicle will mark a return to the well-known sport design with low weight and with ultra-low center of gravity. Nice, huh?

The vehicle will be available in Premium or Limited trim and will incorporate features as sport-tuned suspension with front strut brace and TORSEN limited-slip differential.

And now the interesting part. For 2016 the BRZ lineup will include countless technologies and additions of which some are SUBARU STARLINK 6.2″, Multimedia System with a 6.2-inch single-touch gesture display, AM/FM stereo with HD Radio, Sirius XM Stellite Radio. There are also Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, iPod control, iTunes and countless more. After all, comfort and technological advance is as important as the performance stats, right?

Furthermore, Limited trim vehicles will come with a special body-color trunk spoiler, fog lights and Alcantara trimmed interior and Keyless Access. The Limited series come with either 6-speed manual BRZ Limited gearbox or 6-speed Electronic Direct-Control automatic transmission with paddle-shift controls.

Furthermore, the BRZ Limited comes with dual-zone automatic climate control and it includes All-Weather Package as standard feature.

2016 BRZ models will come to dealers this Fall with starting price at $25,395.

STI Unleashes the Limited-Edition Subaru BRZ tS

Subaru BRZ tS Front and Rear Subaru BRZ tS is going viral after it has been released by Subaru Tecnica International earlier today. The car is currently going on sale in dealerships only in Japan, and this fact makes it even more exclusive. With its racing heritage and agile handling, the BRZ tS is a performance master, which promises noting less than exhilarating driving experience.

BRZ tS Changes the Driving Experience

Subaru has officially confirmed that the STI-made car will offer higher levels of ride-quality. This has been achieved via several important changes. First, the chassis has been enhanced by STI experts, who have taken inspiration for it by Subaru’s iconic motorsport activities.

Precisely, the car adopted STI’s flexible parts, which offer responsive handling performance. Brembo brakes behind the 18-inch alloys and the front under spoiler are also something to take under consideration, when it comes to performance.

Exterior & Interior

Some styling changes define the Subaru BRZ tS. For example these are STI’s front under spoiler or the specific design of the front bumper, which features cherry red colored facing and LED lamps. At the tail of the vehicle, the same design treatment has been applied to the rear bumper.

Front fender garnish with “STI” logo in black as well as folding door mirrors and shark fin type roof antenna in the same color round out the exterior design.

Especially when it comes to the same segment in which the BRZ is positioned.

Certain 2015 Subaru models earn Top Safety Pick+ awards

The new Subaru Legacy has achieved the highest possible rating of “good” in the Institute’s crashworthiness evaluations of front small overlap, front moderate overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact. Subaru Introduces 2015 BRZ Series Blue Special Edition

2015 Subaru BRZ Series Blue is the special edition version of the acclaimed purist sports car. The model will be produced in limited run of only 1000 examples exclusively for the United States. This BRZ embodies an exclusive combination of STI functional aerodynamic body design, black-painted STI 17-inch wheels and unique interior trim. What is more, Subaru announced that it will offer 500 numbers of the car painted WR Blue Pearl and 500 in Crystal White Pearl. The special edition will arrive in dealerships in July.

BRZ Series Blue is driven by 200 horsepower (147 kW) 2.0-liter BOXER engine. It features low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering. A boosts in car’s aerodynamic performance is achieved via the black STI front, side, and side-rear under spoilers, which contribute to additional front downforce.

Furthermore, the additional underbody panels reduce the coefficient of drag (Cd) from 0.28 to 0.27. Larger stainless steel exhaust tips and a new shark fin antenna are also included. Red-finish brake calipers can be seen behind the spokes of the black painted STI wheels, which emphasize BRZ’s pure sports nature.

This special edition vehicle is built on the BRZ Limited model but features exclusive trim and special details throughout. Inside, its leather and Alcantara upholstery includes blue leather seat bolsters and head restraints. Blue stitching highlights the seats and the blue and black leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as the shift lever boot and leather-wrapped parking brake handle.

The same blue motif can also be seen on the center console kneepads and door trim that are further accentuated by an embroidered silver BRZ logo on the front seatbacks. Carpeted floor mats with BRZ logo and blue stitching, frameless day/night rear-view mirror and simulated carbon fiber center dash panel, red illuminated engine start/stop button with an STI logo round out the special interior treatment.

Cosworth Releases Video Teaser Of Upgraded Subaru BRZ

Cosworth Subaru BRZ is going to be equipped with tuning company latest enhancement package called Cosworth Power Package – FA20. What was revealed about it is that it will include the FA20 engine platform as well as the video below. Company’s ability to engineer and manufacture complete engine systems for our customers is a key capability. What we have also understood is that this will be a complete performance upgrade kit, which has been designed and validated as a system to provide guaranteed levels of power and reliability.

FA-20 name probably refers to Subaru BRZ’s 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder Boxer petrol engine. It delivers 200 hp (147 kW) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft). In addition, it also boasts a low centre of gravity and rear-wheel drive for engaging driving thrills.

Furthermore, from the teaser video we can conclude that in the upgraded version of the BRZ we will probably see an upgraded exhaust system, large rear wing and body stripes both in blue. There is a chance of included supercharger or turbocharger which will enhance horsepower. In the video we also see the Toyota GT86, which means that the FA20 will work flawlessly for this model as well.

2014 Subaru BRZ – Price Reduction

Subaru UK has announced a significant £2,500 price reduction for the 2014 BRZ and the sports car now starts at just £23,995 (on-the-road) for the SE Lux model with manual transmission and £25,495 for automatic models.

2014 Subaru BRZ is powered by a 2.0 litre horizontally-opposed Boxer petrol engine (200HP and 205Nm) and boasts a low centre of gravity and rear-wheel drive for engaging driving thrills. The BRZ has been reduced in price to ensure clear differentiation from the all-new All-Wheel Drive WRX STI saloon, Subaru’s flagship performance model.

The WRX STI arrives in showrooms during May, priced from £28,995 (OTR) – £4,000 less than the previous model.

The standard extras of BRZ SE Lux include Alcantara and leather trimmed seats and Torsen rear-axle differential which allows the keen driver to better exploit the sports car’s fine handling characteristics. Auto models feature steering wheel-mounted gear shift paddles.

Pricing Announced For 2014 Subaru BRZ

Subaru has announced the price tag for the 2014 BRZ. The BRZ lineup still puts the main focus on a contemporary sports car design, which includes low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering.

In addition, the brand also created the rear-wheel drive BRZ using an all-new naturally aspirated 200 horsepower (147 kW) horizontally opposed (BOXER) engine design. Although it is extremely sporty, the vehicle also has the capacity to deliver enough comfort and practicality. For instance, it delivers an estimated 34 mpg highway fuel economy when the car is equipped with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Other ratings are concerning the fuel economy are of 22 mpg city / 30 mpg highway / 25 mpg combined with the 6-speed manual transmission, and 25 mpg city / 34 mpg highway / 28 mpg combined with the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The very low-slung coupe body allows a roof height of just 50.6 inches, combined with a swept-back roofline, bulging front fenders, short overhangs and pronounced rear haunches. This undoubtedly gives the new BRZ an athletic stance.

Vehicle’s high intensity discharge (HID) headlights, hexagonal lower grille and six-star ornament are other exterior highlights that contribute to the sporty stance of the car. The BRZ Limited edition model adds a body-color trunk spoiler, standard fog light and Alcantara trimmed interior and Keyless Access.

The exterior of the Limited model is characterized by fog lights and a body-color trunk spoiler. The interior on the other hand includes seat upholstered with Alcantara inserts and leather bolsters. Aha® infotainment smartphone integration included with the standard navigation system is what is new in the 2014 MY Subaru.

The BRZ Limited has a dual-zone automatic climate control as a standard, while the Premium model is equipped with manual HVAC system. The latter also includes a standard All-Weather Package with dual-mode heated front seats and heated side mirrors. In the Limited, there are also dual visor vanity mirrors which are illuminated, and front door courtesy lights illuminate when the doors are opened.

Subaru BRZ tS Limited Edition

Subaru has announced the BRZ tS, which hits the market today through the dealerships in Japan.

The inherent handling performance of the Subaru BRZ has been further enhanced by using expertise developed in motorsports while achieving the “strength and nimbleness” driving committed by STI. The “SUBARU BRZ tS” offers a driver “oneness with vehicle” and “agile handling pleasure”.

The upgrades include 18” silver STI-designed wheels, Brembo brake kit, front add-on spoiler, STI rear suspension link with pillow ball bush, along with reworked coil springs and shock absorbers.

The interior boasts aluminum side sills, Alcantara applications and new front seats.

The engine is the well-known 2.0 liter boxer with 200HP (147 kW) and 205Nm of torque.

2013 Subaru BRZ tS is limited to just 500 units and all of them must be preordered before March 9, 2014.

TEASER: Subaru BRZ STi

Subaru has jut officially teased its new BRZ STi model with several images that show some elements of the car. The upgraded version of the two-door sports coupe was revealed on brand’s Japanese web site.

There is no information disclosed so far and there are plenty of unanswered questions. We re wondering about how much more power will the model have, will it be turbocharged, will it include AWD, etc. In fact, STI’s modifications are likely to put more attention on the BRZ’s emblematic dynamic capabilities.

From one of the images released we can conclude that architecture of the model will definitely be focused on the purity handling and this raises the expectations that the car will deliver more dynamism and joy of driving.

The regular 2013 Subaru BRZ was officially launched on the Malaysian scene in June this year. It is being equipped with six-speed auto box, but a six-speed manual is available through special order. The official details of the BRZ STi are still to be announced.
