  • Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion Receives Various Updates

Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion Front ViewVolkswagen Passat BlueMotion and Volkswagen Passat Estate BlueMotion have received a wide range of updates, which will enhance their appeal. The multi-award-winning vehicles will not only count on looks, but will also perform exceptionally efficient for its future owners. Precisely, both models return 76.3 mpg and emit only 95 g/km of carbon dioxide.

    Engine

These numbers of efficiency and emissions are possible due to the new updated version of the Passat’s entry-level 1.6-litre TDI engine. The modifications include SCR and BlueMotion. The unit produces 120 horsepower (88 kW) at 3,600 rpm and has a torque of 250 Nm (185 lb-ft) developed at 1,750 rpm.

The acceleration time for the Passat BlueMotion from standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) is estimated at 10.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited at 130 mph, which is slightly greater than the standard 1.6-litre engine. This of course means no compromises in terms of BlueMotion’s performance.

Volkswagen Passat Estate BlueMotion runs the 0-62 mph sprint in 11 seconds and its top speed is 129 mph. Both variants of the car will be offered with a six-speed manual gearbox only.

  • 2015 Golf TSI BlueMotion is More Efficient Than a Diesel Model: Fact or Fiction?

Is there a chance of a petrol engine to be as efficient as a diesel powerplant? Until recent years this was a special sort of sci-fi idea for a movie, but now it is a reality. It really exist! We are either in a sci-fi movie or in the future. The well-known German brand Volkswagen has created a 1.0-Liter TSI engine, that will be further installed in one of the most successful vehicles on the European road: the Golf!

The name of the super-duper incredible powerplant is BlueMotion and until now, it was available with only diesel and gas versions. But the Volkswagen team took the challenge to go beyond boundaries and extended the range with one of the most economical engines ever created. Something more: the BlueMotion powerplant will be installed on the most efficient Golf model, that comes with 4.3l/100 km. In fact, BlueMotion comes to this incredible result with both a standard 6-speed manual gearbox and 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The 1.0 TS BlueMotion, that is geared on the Golf TSI will produce a total of 200 Nm and 115 hp (85 kW). And when it comes to top speed the latest BlueMotion system goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.7 seconds and from this impressive start chases the top speed of 204 km/h (127mph).

The standart pack for the special Golf BlueMotion includes air conditioning, seven airbags, Automatic Post-Collison Braking System, XDS electronic lock, start/stop system, special rear spoiler, sporty suspension and special BlueMotion 15-inch “Lyon” wheels.

  • You Can Now Order the Latest VW Passat BlueMotion

If you happen to live in Europe and are Volkswagen fan, this means that this news is for you. The newest Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion can be immediately ordered. The second thing is that the company will offer the car in two variants: sedan and a wagon, so you can chose depending on your needs. And the third reason is that both variants will be driven by the extremely efficient 1.6 l TDI engine linked to a six-speed manual transmission. The unit produces an output of 120 hp (88 kW) and a maximum torque of 250 Nm (185 lb-ft).

  • The Seventh Volkswagen Golf is Out

Volkswagen-Golf-VII-thumbVolkswagen-Golf-VII-mediumTime to get excited since the seventh chapter of a 38-year-old legend is at our doorstep. The Volkswagen Golf VII made its debut in Berlin. More spunk and less fat for this one. Back to the primitive then!

Well, not really. The latest incarnation of the best seller will be still as complicated as a car can be – a new Modular Transverse Matrix body (which is supposedly roomier), a new information and entertainment system and even more interfering assistance software. Nevertheless, the Wolfsburg boffins have managed to trim off 100 kg of weight.

The 140 PS petrol engine is also now 23 percent more fuel efficient thanks to an already developed and tested cylinder deactivation system (remember the Polo Blue GT?). Additionaly, throughout the engine range, a stop/start system comes and standard and battery regeneration as well. Subsequently, we get figures that feel more at home with today’s diesel engines – 4.8 l / 100 km. Speaking of diesels, the 105 PS TDI in the Golf VII happens to sip just 3.8 l per 100 km. Add to that a BlueMotion trim and you get 3.2 l and less than 86 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Do not for a minute think however, that the seventh Golf will slip through without newly installed plants. There are two entirely new generations of engines, designed to offer power from 85 PS to 150 PS.

Be on the lookout for a full specification list.

  • 2012 Volkswagen Up! – First Photos

The first photos of the Volkswagen up! have been released, ahead of the new small car making its debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The up! is an entirely new design, offering maximum space on a minimal footprint (3.54 x 1.64 m), making it ideal for driving in the world’s cities. It will be launched in Europe in December.  There are three versions for different budgets and needs: take up! is the entry-level car, move up! the comfort-oriented model and high up! the top version.  At the car’s market launch, there will also be two models based on the high up!: up! black and up! white.

Making its debut in the up! is a new generation of three-cylinder petrol engines, with outputs of 60 PS and 75 PS.  Combined fuel consumption as a BlueMotion Technology version (including a Stop/Start system) is 4.2 l/100 km (60 PS), and CO2 emissions for this version are less than 100 g/km.  There are also plans for an up! with electric drive.

    2012 Volkswagen Up
    2012 Volkswagen Up

An important new safety technology in the up! is the optional City Emergency Braking system.  It is automatically active at speeds under 18mph, and uses a laser sensor to detect the risk of an impending collision.  Depending on speed and situation, City Emergency Braking can reduce accident severity by initiating automatic brake interventions that can even avoid a crash.  So far, the up! is the only vehicle in the segment to be offered with this function.

At 3.54 metres in length and 1.64 metres in width and 1.48 metres in height, the up! is one of the smallest four-seater cars.  Its overall length consists of short body overhangs and a long wheelbase of 2.42 metres.  Use of space in the car is exceptionally good, because of the wheelbase, which is one of the longest in the segment, combined with an engine that is mounted well forward.  The 251-litre boot is also significantly larger than is typical in this class.  When the rear seat is fully folded, cargo space is increased to 951 litres.

The interior is as colourful as it is capacious, with either decor paint or body colour (depending on the equipment line) used in the interior, including across the dashboard facia.  The clean and well-organised layout of the interior of the up! also offers clever details, fun styling and a level of quality that will enhance the market segment.

    2012 Volkswagen Up Interior
    2012 Volkswagen Up Interior

For the first time in a Volkswagen, the maps + more system is now being offered, which is a mobile Personal Infotainment Device (PID).  In the economically priced up!, this is an equally economical system that was developed to organise navigation, telephone, information and entertainment, and was designed in cooperation with Navigon, one of the world’s leading suppliers of navigation systems.  The user simply snaps the PID into place above the centre console.  Unlike many other similar systems of this type, maps + more melds with the car’s network of systems more effectively: navigation, telephone and infotainment can be controlled and viewed via the maps + more touchscreen, which can also be used to view vehicle information, such as the display of the parking sensors (where fitted).  Apps specially developed for the up! also let users extend maps + more to meet their specific needs.
