The list of Volkswagen Caddy commercial vehicles will grow soon with the introduction of a new special model that is known as Caddy Black Edition. The new vehicle is based on the popular Highline specification but comes with GBP 2,150 worth of additional equipment and customer savings of GBP 1,350. In addition to that this will be the first Volkswagen commercial vehicle to be offered in the prestigious Black Edition form and will have premium specs that will make it the most luxurious Caddy ever built.

The new Caddy comes with a ton of features – body-coloured bumpers, mirrors and door handles, fog lights, rear parking sensors, climatic air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity with trip computer and multi-function display as well as Deep Black Pearlescent paint, unique black and polished 17-inch alloy wheels and silver roof rails and radiator grille surround.  As if this is not enough, drivers also benefit from a multi-functional steering wheel, leather gear knob and gaiter, heated wing mirrors and electric windows as standard.

When it comes to engines, the new Caddy offers a 1.6-liter TDI common rail direct injection engine that delivers 102 horsepower (75 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The vehicle also has a 5-speed manual transmission. Thanks to the employed BlueMotion Technology the vehicle includes hill-hold assist, energy recuperation and start/stop cycles, which means you will be able to enjoy fuel economy of 55.4 UK mpg (5.1 liters per 100 km) combined and CO2 emissions of just 134 g/km.

The Caddy Black Edition has more than luxury, though. As we know the car is built for work and this is why the new model comes with internal volume of 3.2 cubic meters, which makes it one of the most spacious vans in the entire sector. In addition to that the included Dynamic Suspension reduces the ride height by 27 mm. Inside the seats are trimmed in leather and Alcantara while the cabin is separated from the load cube by a full-height solid bulkhead.

In Europe the VW Caddy Black Edition will be on the market on October 1 this year where you will be able to purchase it for GBP 17,860 (no VAT included).

And now we come to the sweetest spot – engines. We can tell you that all of them come with BlueMotion Technology that features some modifications too, including stop/start and battery energy recuperation. All engines also fully meet the latest EU6 requirements. There are four of them – a 1.4-liter TSI unit with 125 horsepower (92 kW) and a six-speed manual gearbox; a 1.4-liter TSI unit with 150 horsepower (110 kW) and a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox; a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 110 horsepower (81 kW) and a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG gearbox and a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 150 HP (110 kW) with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG gearbox. • Volkswagen Up! BlueMotion

VW-Up-2012-thumbOne of Volkswagen‘s most practical and fuel-sipping cars is now available with the best possible efficiency setup. Introducing the Up! BlueMotion with two engine variants. However, to prevent the scales from tipping over too much to the “blue” side of things, the company has also introduced two exciting new options – A panoramic sliding sunroof and a thing called the “leatherette pack”

First stop, the engines. We have two 1.0 liter engines that develop 60 bhp and 75 bhp respectively. They already sound frugal enough but now with the introduction of the BlueMotion package it is claimed that they both have a combined fuel consumption of 4,1 l/100 km and 4,2 l/100km. Really? A tenth of a liter more overall consumption for the prize of 15 horsepowers? Who is going to buy the less-powerful version? It’s the same story with the CO2 emissions – 96 g (60 PS) and 98 g (75 PS).

The BlueMotion technology manifests itself through the presence of a Stop/Start function, a battery regeneration system and also, both of the cars are more slippery by being 15 mm lower than usual. It’s not rocket science, I’ll have to admit. But the combination of all these tweaks gives an astonishing end result. And the price for this whole BluePackage is only 400 euros ($537).

The panoramic sliding sunroof on the other side, with its electric adjust ability and overall flexibility allows some fresh air to come in and clear your head from all those economy figures. It is a playful, ambiance inducing feature that costs an additional sum of 880 euros ($1183). In the mean time, the leatherette package provides a leather steering wheel, hand brake lever and gear shift grip also in leather and heated front seats in leather look with white decorative stitching – 760 euros ($1022) if one has the move up! trim line or above.
