  • Audi TT Roadster to be Manufactured at Audi Hungaria

Audi TT Roadster is the fourth Audi model after the A3 sedan, A3 Cabriolet and Audi TT Coupe which will go into series production at the new automobile factory in Győr. Audi CEO Rupert Stadler pointed out that Győr plays a significant role in the development of Audi’s global production network. The automobile production in the Hungarian city has been operating since June 2013 and it adds up to the already existing engine production there.

The compact two-seater Audi establishes an innovative benchmark in the sense that it comes with original design, improved powertrain, better suspension and useful technologies. For instance, the new Audi comes with a virtual cockpit which underscores the design of the car. This digital display combination replaces physical instruments and gathers all the relevant information in the driver’s field of vision. The TT Roadster has already been praised for this original display and operating system with the Car Connectivity Award and, also, the prize for Interior Innovation of the Year in the Automotive Interiors Expo Awards. In addition, TT Roadsters are powered by either a 2 liter TDI delivering 184 HP, 280.3 lb-ft (379 Nm) or 2.0 TFSI rated which produces 230 HP. The car has a combined fuel consumption of just 4.3 to 7.5 liters/100 km (54.7 US mpg) which reaches CO2 emissions from 114 to 174 gr per km.

Audi Hungaria was the first branch planted outside of Germany about 21 years ago. Its commencing marked the company’s further development in a worldwide aspect and helped for the development of Audi’s international influence and presence. So far the successful background and results prove that this decision could not have turned out any better.

  • Sporty Audi TT Roadster and Audi TTS Roadster

    2014-Audi-TT-and-TTS-Roadster-t2014-Audi-TT-and-TTS-Roadster-651

Right on schedule for the Paris Motor Show, Audi has finished its work on the all new TT and TDS models. Both variants look very sporty and compact, though the changes to the power train options and design are almost non-existent, their design is noticeable sportier than the outgoing model, especially on S line models. All TT Roadsters now get new standard symmetrical dual-exhaust tips that differentiate them from the less sporty models.

The front end looks more aggressive, thanks to an enlarged grille, sharp headlights and unique design. Of course, all of these features are identical to the TT Coupe. The obvious change between the MK3 Coupe, which has just started being assembled a month ago, and its new rack top brother, they lack only roof. Audi has engineered a new convertible top that weighs three kilograms (8.6 lbs) lighter than before, using more magnesium, aluminum and plastic.Unlike many modern convertibles that require you to be stationary, the TT Roadster can open and close the top as little as 10 seconds at speeds about 50 km/h (31 mph).

Just like on older models, the passenger compartment has lost its relatively pointless rear seats. The upside is like that, because the top folds over the space they would normally take up. Cargo space is 250 liters.  However, Audi has recently introduced A3 Cabriolet mode, based on the same platform as the TT and offering full seating for four people.

The benefits of using MQB architecture are immediately obvious when you look at the weight. The TT 2.0 TFSI roadster now tips the scales at 1320 kg (2910 lbs), compared to the 1358 kg (2993 lbs)  of the older model.

With outstanding, Impressive performance and efficiency, the new TT Roadster is the smallest, lightest convertible Audi makes. With no surpise, this has a huge impact on both performance and fuel consumption. Engine choices have remained identical to the TT Coupe. Regular TT Roadsters are offered with either a 2 liter TDI delivering 184 PS, 280.3 lb-ft (379 Nm) or 2.0 TFSI rated at 230 PS. The new diesel option belongs to the new ultra family of low fuel consumption of just 4.3 liters/100 km  (54.7 US mpg) which reaches CO2 emissions of 114 gr per km.

The downside is that you can get it with a manual and front-wheel drive right now. The TFSI is basically the same engine you get on the Gulf “GB I”, but with the difference, Audi allows you to have it with optional Quattro all-wheel drive. There are no performance numbers for those engines yet, but the flagship TDS Roadster packing 310 PS need only 4.9 second to reach from 0 to 100 km/h (0 – 62 mph).

Prices for the TT Roadster will start at 37,900 euros for a 2.0 TSI with forward and manual, only a few hundred euros more if you want a diesel model. However full details wont be available until the start of 2015.

  • Audi TT RS Plus

Audi-TT-RS-plus-thumbJust when you think an Audi TT RS can’t get any better, a ‘plus‘ edition turns up and bends your perception of what is good and what is really good. When we say really good, we mean blisteringly fast, outstandingly fun and unmatched in terms of performance. Whichever ‘plus‘ you might choose, the Coupe or the Roadster, you can’t go wrong.

The standard 2.5 TFSI 5-line engine found in the RS is already powerful enough but the ‘plus’ sees a further power boost from 340 hp to 360 hp. Now an even more colossal torque figure of 465 Nm (342.97 lb-ft) passes trough the gearbox which can be an seven-speed S tronic or a six-speed manual. The S tronic is naturally a dual-clutch transmission and has its own launch control for that lightning performance from the starting line. All models come with the flawless quattro system that sends power to all four wheels.

Performance figures are a little bit in favor of the S tronic transmission coupled with a Coupe: a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time for the Coupe S tronic is 4.1 seconds with 4.3 seconds for the manual. The Roadster performs a tenth of a second slower in both configurations (4.2 with S tronic and 4.4 with a manual). The speed limiter for both cars kicks in at 280 km/h (173.98 mph). All of that stacks up pretty well against the economy figures which allow the RS to be driven on an everyday basis – 8.5 liters of fuel per 100 km (27.67 mpg) if you go with the S tronic.

That fuel frugality, as well as the agile acceleration, is partly due to the diet on which the RS had been put. (They should have called it the ‘minus’). The Coupé with manual transmission, including quattro drive, weighs just 1,450 kilograms (3,196.70 lb). Other factors which might help the track performance include the four-piston calipers of the big ventilated front brake disks, the large fixed rear wing and the optional electro-magnetic damping suspension that has been a trademark the TT line for ages. The car itself sits on four 19-inch cast wheels (black with red lining on the rim) which are wrapped in wide 255/35 tires.

A striking feature that may give the car away as a ‘plus‘ version is the front grille – it’s a mesh of diamond-patterned design framed in what look like aluminum. Apart from that, there are the wing mirrors which are made from a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and the exhaust system which is distinguishable with its black oval tailpipe trims. A sound flap on the pipes, which enhances the roar from the engine is the car’s party piece.

In Germany, the ‘plus’ versions are priced as follows:

    Coupe, manual transmission – €60,650 ($80,434)

    Coupe, S tronic – €62,800 ($83,285)

    Roadster, manual transmission – €63,500 ($84,214)

    Roadster, S tronic – €65,650 ($87,065)

  • Lightweight Design – It’s an Art: The Audi ASF Design Principle

Most manufacturers’ cars have grown heavier as the years have gone by. This isn’t true of Audi. Quite the opposite: more than ten years ago the Audi A8 and the Audi A2, with their aluminum bodies, put a stop to this never-ending spiral of increased weight. Since then, Audi has developed this pioneering weight-saving technology more and more. Today ASF (Audi Space Frame), as it is now known, is used for four Audi models: the TT, TT Roadster, R8 and A8. • ABT TT Roadster

Before the first preliminary designs were published, it was clear that the leading Audi tuner ABT Sportsline planned to cause a sensation with the new Audi TT, as the first TT is one of the favourite cars of the Kempten-based company with a long tradition. And this is due to the fact that the race version of the Sports Coupe 2002 won a lot of DTM (German Touring Car Series) races. (more…)

  • Je Design Audi TT

Je Design Audi TTAudi barely released the TT on the market and JE DESIGN already came up with modifications. Now out of Leingarten, Germany, one can receive “huge” helpings while going back for seconds. In addition to suspension and motor is a complete optical package including improved brakes, a 4-pipe stainless steel sports exhaust and 20″ wheels.

JE DESIGN sets the the 2,0 Litre-TFSI motor under heavy pressure. Following alterations to the motor control system, the turbo gasoline-engine car has 180kW / 244HP at 5100 RPM (series produced: 147kW / 200HP). The series produced 280 Nm increases to 355 Nm providing measurably improved elasticity values. Aside from this the TT races a clean 247 km/h (series produced: 240 km/h). Naturally customers can expect better acceleration. The TT from JE DESIGN wins from 0-100 magical mark in just 6 seconds. In accordance, this motor meets all emission regulation requirements.

Additionally JE DESIGN supplied parts provided for enhanced power have been approved through TÜV: German Technical Inspection Association. 244 horsepower is a okay, but JE DESIGN already has scheduled to bring in the next big hammer. The Leingarten based tuners are in preparation of a compressor kit for the 3.2 Liter-V6 that elicits a Porsche-killing 350HP.

    Optics and Sound Tuning

To leave a stronger mark in the rear mirror of other cars, JE DESIGN provides the TT with distinctive features of a two-part front spoiler mounted on the left and right front. Perfectly matching and connecting this components is a spoiler lip in carbon-look, which also enhances a touch of motorsports. In back, JE DESIGN throws in a diffuser-insert in carbon-look for use in combination with a JE DESIGN 4-pipe stainless steel exhaust silencer which especially creates a sporty sound with the 3.2 Liter-V6 motor. It can be fitted to the 2.0 TFSI version as well. Naturally, the exhaust silencer is delivered with EC-approval. The diffuser-inserts come alternatively in a standard version finished in matching car or contrast colour.

A discreet rear spoiler lip for lift reduction rounds up the new rear view. All aerodynamic components are constructed per CAD guaranteeing precision fitting. The front spoiler part as well as rear spoiler lip are constructed of high quality PU material and the diffuser-insert is of ABS-plastic.

    Suspension, Brakes and new Wheels

A lowering set of sport springs, available for front wheel drive and quattro-versions, relocates the TTs’ centre of gravity by 30 mm downwards thereby improving the agility of this coupe. The lowering set can be used as well in vehicles with magnetic ride system (MRS). JE DESIGN makes even better driving performance for the TT-version possible through an adapted and adjustable coilover suspension.

Recommended for those who prefer an even brisker movement of the JE DESIGN-TT is a 4-piston sports brake system in size 330x28mm guaranteed for better deceleration. JE DESIGN offer includes ventilated brake disks, brake callipers, brackets, added-on parts, sport steelflex lining and TÜV parts approval.

Ultimately vehicle tuning amounts to new attractive wheels. JE DESIGN proposes as largest and naturally best looking option a 20″ large, forged wheel in 8,5×20″ ET 35 and in “Super polished” finish or optionally a complete wheel set with tires 245/30R20Y. An alternative offer is 10×18″ (model “Visage”) or 19″ wheels with 245/35R19Y (model “Multi-spoke” in “Shadow Silver” or “Chrome-look”) . Either way the TT is well “soled” with JE DESIGN.

Naturally this complete program is also available for the new Audi TT Roadster.
