  • SPEED-BUSTER team enhanced two lucky Audi machines. Check’em out!

2017 SPEED-BUSTER Audi S5 and RS5 Chiptuning SPEED-BUSTER team takes a closer look at Audi’s Biturbo machines. As we all know that these bad boys are extremely sexy and appealing and at the same time offer some massive amount of power and road agility. What the tuning team has done is as straightforward as fucntional as possible: both the RS5 and S5 receive comprehensive chip tuning that adds more to the pure power output of the power unit.

SPEED-BUSTER’s Chiptuning-Box pack is a special one in many ways: first, it utilizes vehicle’s parameters and capabilities, then it processes the data from the original Audi sensors to the original ECU. By doing so, the system adds significant amount of power: for the RS5 machine this means a leap from the stock 450hp (331kW) to 523hp (385kW) and additional 86Nm of torque for the final amount of 68Nm. Massive, isn’t it? For the S5 monster these parameters are 420hp (309kW) from the stock 354hp (260kW). Just enough to force the 3.0-liter TFSI power unit to unveil its full potential.

  • Audi featuring Ducati at Pikes Peak

Audi-RS5-Pikes-Peak-thumbAudi-RS5-Pikes-Peak-mediumSo that’s what the big Audi surprise is. A tag team on the Pikes Peak climb that consists of an RS5 and a Ducati Multistrada 1200 – a celebration of the two franchises’ coming together (Audi buying Ducati). A union then, between the sensible Germans and the passionate Italians – always a recepie for a success.

Here’s an energetic clip that showcases the representatives. To an everyday normal person, the Ducati is essentially a bike. To us however, it is some sort of a strange car that’s been deprived of two of its wheels. Quite a far fetched misconception, but is it really? This is a Multistrada 1200 Ducati which boasts a 1.2-liter liquid-cooled engine that produces 150 hp. It also has a 6-speed transmission and a wet, hydraulic multi-plate slipper clutch. On the 2012 models, ABS is standard and there’s an engine mode switcher the regulates the power output. All of that grunt and sophistication may sound over the top, but.. it does even more so when we take into consideration that the Multistrada weighs just 190 kg when dry.Ducati-Pikes-Peak-medium-1

There’s doesn’t seem to be anything special, special about the RS5 which is still an impressive head-turner and stomach churner. That is, nothing special beyond that body work which is styled, alongside with the theme of the Multistrada, to represent at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Also, on a side not, Audi will be donating at the “Battle the Blaze” fund which has been established by the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb organizers to help the wildfire-ravaged community surrounding Pikes Peak.

  • A Special Audi RS5 For the Pikes Peak Climb

    Audi-RS5-Pikes-Hill-Teaser-thumbAudi-RS5-Pikes-Hill-Teaser-medium

Audi have released this image to the public in connection with the annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) that’s due next week – a 12 mile climb to the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado. Between the contenders and the 1,440 m altitude finish line weave more than 156 bends. Obviously, Audi plan to surprise us with whatever this quattro incarnation is.

The current road going RS5 is an impressive coupe enough – a 4.2-liter V8 FSI unit underneath its shell that produces 444 hp and 430 Nm of torque. A 7-speed “S tronic” dual clutch semi-automatic channels the power to all four wheels via the iconic and clever quattro AWD system that has been around since the 80s.

All of that raises the bar of expectation a lot. Audi have a history on the PPIHC (two records and a couple of gold and silver medals) and do not intend to throw it away. That’s why the also want us to watch this:

  • Audi A5 Facelift by RIEGER

Reiger-Audi-A5-thumbRieger are back to tackle the new Audi A5. They had to come up with new body panels that would fit properly on the now facelifted coupe 5-door fastback. Not only that but some new wheels have been added to the formula, a new suspension and an RS5-ish exhaust system.

We start off with a Rieger front bumper, a couple of side skirts and a rear skirt-extension. You can have that last one in a carbon fiber look if you like. The same is true for the spoiler. The overall body kit gives that much sought after aggressive look. The picture becomes more vivid however with four 21-inch Corniche Challenge wheels and Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tires on them. The wheel arches above them will be well filled thanks to a set of H&R sports springs which lower the whole car. The final piece to the puzzle is the Rieger exhaust system which offers no compromises.

  • 2012 Audi RS5 – UK Price £58 725 OTR

Audi has announced its V8-powered coupe flagship from A5 range – the 2012 RS5 mode, which is already available at the UK market. The prices start at “just” £58 725 OTR. The new RS combines new styling, mechanical and specification revisions with characteristically extreme performance from a high-revving 450PS V8.

Styling upgrades include a slight revision to the single frame grille design, sharper and more pronounced bonnet contours, new solid band wraparound LED daytime running lights and LED rear lights, new look front and rear bumpers and a new ten-spoke design for the 19” alloy wheels.

The interior benefits from Bluetooth mobile phone preparation, cruise control, DVD-based satellite navigation and Audi Music Interface iPod connection. The cruise control system can also now be upgraded at extra cost to the adaptive system with braking guard, which uses radar sensors to control distance from traffic in front of the car between 19mph and 155mph, and can also initiate partial braking or full deceleration if its sensors detect an impending collision.

Interior design changes extend to a new flat-bottomed RS three-spoke steering wheel and detail improvements to the air conditioning, Multi Media Interface, mirror adjustment and electric window switchgear, the gear lever and the instrument stalks. New look optional inlays are also now available.

    2012 Audi RS5 UK
    2012 Audi RS5 UK

The engine is a naturally-aspirated 4.2 litre V8 with 450PS at 8250RPM and 430Nm at 4000RPM. 0-100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited, which can be elevated to 174mph if the extra cost speed limit de-restriction option is specified. The fuel consumption is really low for such power – 26.9 mpg and CO2 emissions of 246 g/km.

Like all RS models, the RS 5 Coupé applies its power to the road with quattro permanent all-wheel-drive, which in this instance is further enhanced by the crown-gear centre differential that can vary the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles at lightning speed and over a wide range. Up to 70% can flow to the front or as much as 85 percent to the rear, as necessary. The default 40:60 ratio of the rear-biased configuration ensures sporty handling. The electronic stability program (ESP) also integrates a sport mode which ensures that it intervenes at a later stage. It can also be switched off entirely.

The optional Sport Package also includes larger 20” rotor design titanium-look alloy wheels, a sports exhaust system. It is priced at £2 250.

  • New Audi RS 4 Avant

Audi-RS4-Avant-thumbIt has been 3 years since the RS4 got off Audi’s production line but today we can indulge ourselves once again in the roar of a V8, shelled by a familiar body – It’s the new Audi RS4. The resurrection kicks off with an Avant version which is here to show it’s rivalries what’s what.

The RS4 is back with a bang as it gets the powertrain usually found in the RS5 Coupe – a hand-built 4.1 liter plant, producing 450 PS at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm of torque from 4,000 to 6,000 rpm. In true RS tradition, that power goes trough a permanent Quattro AWD system. The ‘permanent’ term however, should not scare you off as the Quattro in the latest RS4 is exceptionally flexible – it incoroprates a self-locking crown-gear centre differential that allows up to 85 percent of the power to go to the rear axle or up to 70 towards the front wheels. By default, one would find that the power bias ratio is 40:60 in favor of the back wheels. So for the people who like to travel sideways everywhere that is a relief.

The whole power thing translates into a time of 4.7 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph sprint and a top speed of 174 mph (limited to 155 mph). Stunning performance, keeping in mind that this estate returns 25.7mpg on the combined cycle.

Compared to the standard A4, the RS4 is 20 mm lower thanks to the truly complex suspension – a five-link set-up at the front and a self-tracking trapezoidal-link rear assembly. We don’t know what all that means but chances are its beneficial. The power steering is clever too. It has a conscious mind that takes into account the current speed of the car to determine the steering firmness.

    Audi RS4 Avant (2013)
    Audi RS4 Avant (2013)

The car sits on 19-inch (20-inch optional) wheels wrapped in four 265/35-series tires. The 10-spoke design of the wheels are rather revealing and it’s not like the Audi hasn’t got anything to hide. We are talking about internally vented wave disc brakes – an innovation in stopping power as the brakes are around 3 kg lighter (in total weight) and more heat-efficient due to their “wave” outer, perforated contour.

Inside, black is the predominant finish with occasional carbon inlays and chrome clasps lining the switches and buttons. One would also find that the front sports seats are heated and that the driver information system has an RS menu with a lap timer.

There are tons of other optional extras that might be worthwhile ticking – the Dynamic Ride Control ensures even more stability at high speeds and sharp bends and a sports exhaust system for that kid in everyone of us.

Prices for the Audi RS4 are yet to be released and hopefully we’ll see the arrival of a sedan version so that everyone is happy. In the mean time do not hesitate to look around in the RS4 gallery.

  • Audi RS5 Coupe vs tuned Audi S5 Sportback

Another hard choice – Audi RS5 Coupe or tuned Audi S5 Sportback. Although the second car has two more doors, it is not less sporty, at all.

Firstly, Audi RS5 has a brutal 4.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 with 450PS (331 kW) at 6000RPM and 430Nm (317 lb-ft) at 4000RPM. The redline of the engine is all the way up to 8250RPM. It is mated to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox, which sends the power to Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The performance – 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) with speed governor and 278 km/h (173 mph) with optional package.

The car stands on enormous 19” forged aluminum wheels with 265/35-series tires as standard. Customers can also upgrade to 20” wheels with 275/30-series tires as an option. Behind them, there are humongous ventilated wave brake discs – 365 millimeters up front with 8-piston calipers. However, you can order carbon fiber-ceramic discs up front as an option.

Audi RS5 also comes with complete aerodynamics package including sporty front bumper, a new rear bumper with diffuser and a pair of modified side skirts. There is also an interior sport package including leather seats, steering wheel and some elements and logos all over.

Audi RS5 Coupe is priced at €77 700, which is a lot, but it worth every single cent.

On the other hand, we have a nice S5 Sportback with a tuning package from Senner.

It is powered by a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6  with 333PS (245 kW) at 5500RPM and 440Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque at just 2900RPM. After some small modifications like air filter, sport exhaust system including an additional muffler and X-Pipe of stainless steel with the enlarged pipe diameter to 63.5 mm and 4 exhaust pipes of 90×70 mm, and of course an ECU re-map. The power has been increased to a hefty – 445PS (327 kW) and 530Nm (393 lb-ft).

Senner S5 Sportback also comes with Elegant TS-7 wheels in sizes 9.5J x 20” up front and 11J x 20” at the rear fitted with Conti Sport Contact 5P tires in dimensions 255/30 R20 and 295/25 R20, respectively.

The car is finished in black mettalic paint with bright borders, as well as moldings and racks for windows, including a fog-light frame in the same color.

The suspension received adjustable screw thread B16 PSS10 from Bilstein with the possibility of height, pull rate and pressure adjustment in “Senner-tuning”, which is responsible for the low suspension: about 40 mm on the front axle and 35 mm on the rear axle.

The total cost of the upgrades is €15 000 and the original S5 Sportback costs €57 900, so the combined price is “just” €72 900, which is almost 5 thousand less than RS5.

Again, it is very difficult to choose, whether you’ll have the brutal RS5 with its mighty V8 or the more “normal” tuned S5.
