  • Audi Q3 Gets New S Line Plus Model Line And Engine Range

Audi-Q3-THUMBAudi Q3 SUV will gain for the new year more compact and efficient 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine alongside a new S line Plus specification option. The new unit substitutes the 140 hp (103 kW) 2.0-litre TDI one but shares its front-wheel-driven configuration.

The SE and S line trim levels will get the engine, which produces 150 hp (110 kW) delivered between 5,000 and 6,000rpm, and maximum torque of 250 Nm (185 lb-ft) from 1,750 to 3,000rpm. The unit transmits the power onto the road via six-speed manual or seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission.

When the SUV is equipped with the first transmission, then it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, in 9.2 seconds; while the models with the S tronic cover the same sprint for 8.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 126 mph. The combined fuel economy here is rated at 47.9 mpg, while the CO2 emissions – at 137 g/km for the 6-speed manual and 145 g/km for the S tronic models.

The Q3 quattro-equipped 2.0 TFSI and 2.0 TDI models will also get S line Plus specification, which will give them 19-inch ‘five segment spoke’ design and privacy glass extending from the B-pillar rearwards. The variants will be also offered with a choice of seven metallic paint finishes – Ice silver, Samoa orange, Monsoon grey, Caribou brown, Platinum beige, Cobalt blue and Glacier white.

Inside, the car is equipped with S line perforated leather and Alcantara, cruise control, Audi’s parking system plus and SD card-based satellite navigation via the 6.5-inch colour display, as well as front sports seats with powered lumbar support, Audi Music Interface, Bluetooth interface and voice control system.

Other exterior equipment details include the Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, S line body styling, light and rain sensors, comfort-oriented ‘dynamic suspension’ and S line sports suspension with a 20mm lower setting.

  • A. Kahn Design Tunes Audi Q3 TDI S

Kahn-Audi-Q3-TDI-S-THUMBA. Kahn Design is ready to announce its next exquisite project, which this time is not on the favorite for the tuning company Land Rover models, but on an Audi Q3 2.0 TDI S. The result is breathtaking – a luxury mini SUV that mixes elegant performance with rugged practicality.

In fact, the vehicle was designed in such way that it deliberately avoids the traditional ‘boxy’ look of a standard SUV. The modifications on this vehicle are minimal, but this does not take away the exclusivity of the project.

First to mention is that this Audi runs on brand new 10×20 inch Kahn RS-XF wheels in silver platinum color. They were coupled with 255x45x20” tyres and also through their spokes one sees the painted brake calipers.

In addition, the professionals at the British luxury tuning company have also added enamel wing shields, Amalfi White silhouette, privacy tinted glass and Kahn enamel tailgate logo. The refined interior of this Q3 speaks at least of luxury and high quality craftsmanship.

To be more precise, when one enters the car, one sees Kahn’s sculpted seats which are wrapped in natural looking quilted and perforated black leather, have customary Kahn investing in British Industry logo and Kahn rev counter facia in red.

  • Audi RS Q3 on Snow [video]

Here is an interesting video of the new high-performance SUV – Audi RS Q3. This is the first “Q” model to get the RS designation. It was introduced at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, this month. It is expected to hit the market in Germany this fall with prices starting from €54.600.

RS Q3 is powered by a five-cylinder 2.5 liter turbocharged petrol with 310HP (228 kW) at 5,200RPM and 420Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque at just 1,500RPM. The engine is connected to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox sending the power to Quattro AWD. 0-100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

The sporty SUV also features an aerodynamics body kit with new bumpers, grille inserts and side skirt. There is also a spoiler on the roof, matte aluminum trim and new rear diffuser housing big tailpipe.

The stance is improved by lowering the suspension with 25mm and big wheels – 19” or 20” alloys fitted with low-profile performance tires.

  • Audi RS Q3 SUV With World Debut At Geneva Motor Show

Audi-RS-Q3-SUV-THUMBAudi-RS-Q3-SUV-651Audi RS Q3 will be one of the main stars at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. In addition, it will be the first ever Audi SUV to be handed over to the specialists at quattro GmbH for full, no-holds-barred RS transformation.

At the core of this RS pioneer is the 2.5-litre TFSI engine mated to a seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission. It has a 2,480 cc of engine displacement thanks to which the SUV generates 310 hp (228 kW) peak at between 5,200 and 6,700 rpm, and maximum torque of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) between 1,500 and 5,200 rpm .

This means that the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in only 5.5 seconds. The top speed here is electronically limited to 155mph. The five-cylinder engine is also complemented by a standard start-stop system which contributes to fuel economy. In fact Audi RS Q3 has up to 32.1mpg combined cycle test, equating to CO2 output of 206 g/km.

As a standard here comes the Audi drive select adaptive dynamics system. It can influence the flap control for the exhaust system and the accelerator characteristic. It also offers auto, comfort and dynamic modes.

What is more the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system is also featured, in this case the version based on an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch positioned on the rear axle. The system provides swift and proportionate distribution of torque between the front and rear axles for optimum power management in all weathers.

In addition, there is a specially tailored electronic stabilisation control (ESC). An electromechanical parking brake and hill hold assist are also standard.

What is also very impressive about the RS Q3 is the RS-specific body detailing, including a high-gloss black honeycomb front grille and RS bumpers, the front treatment including a quattro emblem in the air intake and the rear a distinctive diffuser and large elliptical tailpipes.

Furthermore, a roof spoiler, roof rails in matt aluminium and special door sill plates and door trim strips also add to the impressive visual stance. This Audi model has a 4,410 mm length, and it weigh circa 1,730 kg.

The RS accents can also be seen inside the car. The instrument cluster has grey gauges with white scales and red needles. Contrasting stitching in rock grey trims the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with its flat bottom as well as the gear selector lever.

Black headlining is apparent on all standard models, but there is lunar silver headlining as an option. The contrast is made by the pedals and foot support which are finished in bright aluminium.

Next, the luggage area has a base capacity of 356 litres. It can be enhanced up to 1,261 litres by folding down the split rear seat backs.

RS Q3 comes equipped with wide range of innovative technologies: navigation system, MMI Navigation plus, BOSE surround sound system driving 14 loudspeakers, Audi connect that brings the Internet to the car. Highly advanced driver assistance systems can also be incorporated.

Audi RS Q3 SUV will make its world first appearance next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

  • Chevrolet Debuts SUV in Paris

Chevrolet-Trax-thumbThe 2012 Paris Motor Show, which will be held well into the second half of this year in September, is to become the venue for a new Chevrolet. We are talking about a compact SUV which will be an obvious competitor to the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. Say hello to the Chevrolet Trax.

What the company promises with the five-seater Trax is high value, quality, refinement and looks at a lower-than-usual prices. For now we have this render which supposedly exhibits “a musular exterior design and a wide aesthetic stance”. We can surely see it’s chunky, but athletic?

Susan Docherty, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe commented: “Trax provides Chevrolet an entry into a growing small SUV segment and delivers the flexibility, great fuel economy and car-like handling that urban explorers require.”

The Trax will most probably hit the European markets sometime in the spring, next year. As much as 140 countries might get it.

  • MTM Volkswagen T500 and Audi Q3 at Geneva

MTM-Q3-TFSI-Quattro-thumbMTM are going to be at Geneva and do they have a treat for us or what? Two treats in fact. The world these days is mad about SUV’s and MTM is listening carefully. That is why at the show, the custom house will feature an MTM Q3 2.0 TFSI Quattro baby SUV and … a not-much-of-an-SUV MTM T 500 2.5 TFSI 4motion which is, and there is no other way of saying this, basically a VW T5 van. But things start looking a bit different when closing in. The company has really made an effort in bringing the sport back to utility.

Both of these MTMs are patriotically painted in bold black, red and gold and the idea is to celebrate the kickoff of the European Football Championship season – “If you want to play in the top league, you better drive in the top league”, comments the MTM owner Roland Mayer.

We do not know what exactly happens underneath the hood, but MTM say that the power in the Q3 has been pumped from 170 bhp to 310 bhp. Another claim is that it only needs 6.1 seconds to get to the 100 km/h threshold and that the top speed is just bellow 250 km/h. The company also offers some exhaust pipes and a diffuser to complement all that power. Equally impressive are the four MTM Bimoto 20″ wheels, each wrapped in a 255/35 ZR 20 tire.

    MTM Audi Q3 TFSI Quattro
    MTM Audi Q3 TFSI Quattro

The MTM T 500 2.5 TFSI 4motion gets its power from a straight five that develops 472 bhp at 6,900 rpm. Alsp, at 4,100 rpm, the unit racks up a torque of 625 Nm which calls for an overhauled transmission. Top speed stands at 280 km/h (in a van!). Some reassuring tweaks on the suspension are also provided – 6-piston calipers at the front grab hold of the giant disks whenever needed, a KW Street Comfort coilover suspension tweaked by MTM is also there to keep you on the road. As a roundup, we have four 9×20 inch MTM Bimoto rims with 275/35 ZR 20 Michelin SuperSport tires on them.

Whichever of the two you might fancy, it will be ideal for a trip to the European Football Championship. Two PSUVs suited for true football fans.

  • Audi Q3 Vail Concept

Audi has unveiled the Q3 Vail Concept in Detroit. The vehicle will share the limelight with the new generation Audi A4 at the North American International Automobile Show (January 14-22), and will combine striking, harder-edged styling with a suitably brawny 2.5-litre TFSI petrol engine delivering extreme power.

The Q3 Vail Concept is developed for young fans of winter sports who love skiing or snowboarding. It is finished in Energy Red with golden pearlescent particles. The colour is really striking, especially when it is combined with matt grey quartz-based paint for some elements.

Vertical bars made from aluminium are integrated in the single-frame grille. They extend across the full height of the grille.

The struts feature a bi-colour theme developed specifically for the Q3 Vail: their lateral edges are painted in matt quartz-based paint, and the slim front faces have a high-gloss finish.

    Audi Q3 Vail Concept
    Audi Q3 Vail Concept

In the headlights the zones in the lower area of the light-guide elements, which generate the daytime running lights, are painted anthracite. The side air inlets further emphasize the themed vehicle’s powerful appearance; their top areas are covered by solid aluminium panels. The underbody guard beneath the front end is also made from aluminium.

    The Audi Q3 Vail is powered by a 2.5 litre five-cylinder TFSI engine with direct injection and turbocharging – 314PS (231 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). The performance is superb – 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 262 km/h (163 mph).

The Q3 Vail stands on 255/45 section off-road tyres and 20” five-arm wheels whose visible edges have a high-gloss finish which mirrors the single-frame grille. Track width has increased by 40 mm at the front and rear compared to series production models, and the body is 30 mm higher. At the rear, the two tailpipes of the dual-branch exhaust system are integrated into the diffuser and underbody guard area.

The interior of the Audi Q3 Vail has a fittingly sporty black, grey and red colour scheme. The headlining is made from titanium grey Alcantara; large parts of the interior, including the carpet, are black. The black, ribbed floor mats are edged with narrow strips of red velvet-finish leather.
