  • Audi Ultra Models – 136HP, 163HP and 190HP

Audi is expanding its ultra strategy with eleven new models and now the manufacturer has unveiled the new A4, A5 and A6 Ultra models. A new and powerful two-liter TDI will provide 136HP, 163HP or 190HP and will emit just 104 to 119 g/km CO2.

The “ultra” designation stands for sustainable mobility that is fully available for everyday use. With a combined fuel consumption rate of 3.9 to 4.6 l / 100 km (60 to 51 US mpg), the new ultra models from Audi are among the most efficient cars in their segment – without any limitation on the driving dynamics or customary comfort.

    The A4 and A4 Avant will be powered by a 2.0 liter TDI with either 136HP (100 kW) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft) or 163HP (120 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.

The A5 Coupe and A5 Sportback will be available exclusively with a 2.0 liter TDI – 163HP (120 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft), while the big A6 and A6 Avant will get the 190HP (140 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque version of the engine.

The three models are set to hit the market later this year with pricing starting from €32,600 for the A4, €37,350 for the A5 and €39,900 for the A6.

  • Audi A4 SE Technik Offers Premium Features

Audi-A4-SE-Technik-THUMBAudi A4 SE Technik now comes to offer more premium features, valuable power and efficiency gains. The Technik specification is available for all A4 Saloon and Avant models that are equipped with a four-cylinder engine.

The new trim level, offered by Audi, is based on the more familiar SE but adds additional equipment to it. For example, it includes Milano leather upholstery, hard disk-based MMI navigation plus, Audi Music Interface (AMI) iPod connection and the Audi parking system plus with front and rear visual and acoustic guidance.

Furthermore, it also features an exterior upgrade in means of the new 18-inch ten-spoke alloy wheels with exclusive design, and of the new metallic paint. To go even further into details, the underlying SE specification for the A4 also includes three-zone climate control, cruise control, a Bluetooth phone interface, the Audi Concert audio system incorporating digital radio reception linked to a 6.5-inch colour display, sensors for headlights, wipers and reverse parking and split/folding rear seats. The Avant variants also come with powered tailgate operation.

The SE Technik specification can be combined with a choice of three turbo charged petrol units and three TDI diesels ones found in the A4 Saloon and Avant range. The petrol line-up features the 120 hp (88 kW) and 170 hp (kW) versions of the 1.8-litre TFSI, as well as the 2.0-litre TFSI. The latter is capable of generating 225 hp (165 kW).

Moreover, the A4 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic now utilizes an improved version of the 2.0-litre engine. Hence, it is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only of 6.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 155 mph, which is electronically limited. The CO2 emissions are estimated at 155 g/km, while the combined fuel economy is impressive – 42.2 mpg.

For those keen on diesel variants, there are available three versions of the 2.0-litre TDI engine, which are capable of producing respectively 150 hp (110 kW), the 136 hp (100 kW) and 177 hp (130 kW).

  • Audi A4 B8 by JMS

    JMS-Audi-A4-thumbJMS-Audi-A4-medium

JMS don’t usually go over the top. Maybe they do put a bumper here and there, throw in some big wheels and a lowering suspension kit but that’s about it. This time though, they have taken home an Audi A4 B8 (2008-2011) and have went… again quite subtle with it actually.

There’s a glued/screwed lip spoiler at the front (S-line excluded) and an apron at the back which has two housings for the left and right exhaust system. That’s right, a stainless steel duplex Eisenmann exhaust system with 4 oval tips – sound and fury. If we don’t consider the KW coilover kit, the added parts lower the car by just 10 mm at the front and 20 mm at the back.

Nevertheless, we do get a version 3 KW kit which has the capability to lower the Audi by up to 50 mm at the front and 40 mm at the back. That lower stance will most probably complement the four 8,5 x 20 Ghost wheels wrapped around with 245/30 at the front and 245/20 tires.

So it sounds like much work, but looking at the JMS Audi A4 (looking at it’s subtlety) one can’t really notice.

  • New Audi RS 4 Avant

Audi-RS4-Avant-thumbIt has been 3 years since the RS4 got off Audi’s production line but today we can indulge ourselves once again in the roar of a V8, shelled by a familiar body – It’s the new Audi RS4. The resurrection kicks off with an Avant version which is here to show it’s rivalries what’s what.

The RS4 is back with a bang as it gets the powertrain usually found in the RS5 Coupe – a hand-built 4.1 liter plant, producing 450 PS at 8,250 rpm and 430 Nm of torque from 4,000 to 6,000 rpm. In true RS tradition, that power goes trough a permanent Quattro AWD system. The ‘permanent’ term however, should not scare you off as the Quattro in the latest RS4 is exceptionally flexible – it incoroprates a self-locking crown-gear centre differential that allows up to 85 percent of the power to go to the rear axle or up to 70 towards the front wheels. By default, one would find that the power bias ratio is 40:60 in favor of the back wheels. So for the people who like to travel sideways everywhere that is a relief.

The whole power thing translates into a time of 4.7 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph sprint and a top speed of 174 mph (limited to 155 mph). Stunning performance, keeping in mind that this estate returns 25.7mpg on the combined cycle.

Compared to the standard A4, the RS4 is 20 mm lower thanks to the truly complex suspension – a five-link set-up at the front and a self-tracking trapezoidal-link rear assembly. We don’t know what all that means but chances are its beneficial. The power steering is clever too. It has a conscious mind that takes into account the current speed of the car to determine the steering firmness.

    Audi RS4 Avant (2013)
    Audi RS4 Avant (2013)

The car sits on 19-inch (20-inch optional) wheels wrapped in four 265/35-series tires. The 10-spoke design of the wheels are rather revealing and it’s not like the Audi hasn’t got anything to hide. We are talking about internally vented wave disc brakes – an innovation in stopping power as the brakes are around 3 kg lighter (in total weight) and more heat-efficient due to their “wave” outer, perforated contour.

Inside, black is the predominant finish with occasional carbon inlays and chrome clasps lining the switches and buttons. One would also find that the front sports seats are heated and that the driver information system has an RS menu with a lap timer.

There are tons of other optional extras that might be worthwhile ticking – the Dynamic Ride Control ensures even more stability at high speeds and sharp bends and a sports exhaust system for that kid in everyone of us.

Prices for the Audi RS4 are yet to be released and hopefully we’ll see the arrival of a sedan version so that everyone is happy. In the mean time do not hesitate to look around in the RS4 gallery.

  • Audi dominates ”Best cars of 2012″ Poll

2012-Audi-A1-thumbAudi has proved itself very popular within the German community which is rather unsurprising. This year, the German-based magazine ”Motor und sport” surveyed a six-digit number of people to determine the “Best Cars of 2012”. The thing is that many people that took part in the research were from other countries as well – The “Motor und sport” magazine has a fan base in more than 13 European countries, Brazil and China. These are all vague numbers and speculations but the fact remains that Audi is one of the most referred to car makes on the market today.

Gaining 37.9 percent of the participating votes, the Audi A1 is crowned victorious in the battle for the best small car segment. The A4/5 on the other hand, won the best mid-size car title with 24.9 percent of the votes cast.

Runner ups include the Audi A8 which got the second place in the luxury class and so did the A6/7 in the upper mid-size category. The R8 Spyder was left behind the winning SLS AMG Roadster in the convertible segment. Audis were seen on third places as well: the R8 in the sports car segment and the Audi A3 also came in third among all midsize models.

  • Fleet News – 2010 BMW 3-Series is the most reliable car

The most reliable car is the BMW 3-Series, according to the survey, retaining its number one position from 2010, while the Honda Accord retains its second place from 2010. What is more, German brands have caught up with Japanese cars when it comes to reliability. In other words – six German brands appear in the top 10 as three of them in the top five.

The final two places in the table are taken by two cars absent from the top 10 last year, with the Mazda6 taking ninth place and the BMW 5 Series securing 10th place. BMW also takes the top spot as the most reliable car manufacturer, with Audi taking second place.

“We are delighted to have won the overall honour in the FN50 reliability survey. The outgoing BMW 3 Series Saloon and the 3 Series range overall has been and continues to be an outstanding success for us.”, commented Tim Abbott, managing director at BMW UK.

“Awards such as this ensure customers can buy a class-leading vehicle safe in the knowledge that only years of enjoyable, hassle free motoring in a premium car await.”, he added.
