Audi A1 Quattro has been tested by XCAR.

The A1 Quattro is powered by a direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol with 265HP (195 kW) at 6000RPM and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque from 2500RPM. 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 245 km/h (152 mph). The A1 Quattro is able to return 33.2mpg (combined cycle). The engine is mated to a quick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission.

  • Audi A1 Quattro in Action [video]

Audi has published a new promo video showing some really nice driving skills by DTM driver Filipe Albuquerque, who is stepping on A1 Quattro.

“The engine is really nice because if you drive slow, you’re going til 3000 (RPM). It’s a linear engine and then it (the turbocharger) kicks in at 3,500 – 4,000 (RPM). Four-wheel drive in these conditions, in the snow, is just fantastic. It’s great fun.”, commented Filipe.

    The A1 Quattro is powered by a direct-injected, turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 265HP (195 kW) at 6,000RPM and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque from just 2,500RPM. 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 245 km/h (152 mph). The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

  • ABT Audi A1 Quattro – Power and control

The Audi A1 Quattro is truly an exceptional car, which has everything that a petrol head needs – speed, stability, handling and nice aggressive vision. Still, there are a few tweaks which can be done to make it even better.

As Hans-Jürgen Abt emphasises: “A dynamic engine, an intelligent 4WD and a low weight – our A1 quattro is a real racer.“

The ABT A1 Quattro is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine boosted to sensational 307HP (226 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. This is an increase of 51HP and 50Nm. The result on the track is 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds (0.3 quicker) and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited.

Still, the boost doesn’t affect the fuel consumption, which makes the A1 Quattro a suitable everyday vehicle, despite the hard as rock suspension.

Hans-Jürgen Abt commented: “If needed, the A1 quattro reacts immediately if you hit the pedal to the metal and your body won’t lack adrenaline …. But it is also easy to drive through narrow inner city streets.“

Once unleashed, this combination of ABT POWER and quattro drive is a sure winner!

  • Audi A1 Quattro Going 0-259 km/h on Gravel

Audi-A1-Quattro-thumbHere’s a treat for the eyes… and ears. An Audi A1 Quattro rummaging through a tight, gravel-ish path. Not sure if the 259 km/h was the end goal or end result but either way, it came out as a fact.

The Audi A1 Quattro, as you might have guessed, is far from ordinary. Sure, it has a 2.0 TFSI that can be found in many other Volkswagens and Audis, but the 256 PS generated here are put to maximum use by the Qauttro’s suspension setup, ESP system and transmission – The electronically controlled, hydraulically actuated multi-plate clutch is all the way back to the rear axle for better weight distribution. Further back, there’s an XDS locking differential while at the front 312 mm ventilated high-performance disc brakes provide enough stopping power to halt a planet. Eventually however, it all goes down to the decades old Quattro (AWD) system – refined, redesigned and perfected (at least for now). That’s the reason we witness such a smooth start and not a trench-digging contest. From there on, it’s just grip, grip and grip. When (if) it lets go, one can fix it with a pinky.

So there you go. A brilliant machine and a brilliant test. Just goes to show how road cars have gone up a notch and deliver a glimpse of the hardcore stuff.

  • Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro

Audi will unveil A1 Clubsport Quattro at the 2011 Wörtherseetour in Reifnitz, Austria, which will take place from June 1st to 4th.

The time attack machine is powered by an upgraded 2.5 liter five-cylinder turbocharged petrol featuring direct-injection. The massive power is 503PS (370 kW) and 660Nm (486 lb-ft). The performance is outstanding – 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, to 200 km/h in just 10.9 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. However, we have no doubts that A1 Clubsport will easily pass the 300 km/h barrier. 80 to 120 km/h in 4th gear takes 2.4 seconds.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, which delivers the torque to all four wheels.

A1 Clubsports Quattro has a curb weight of 1390 kg (3064 lbs), so it won’t be fast only in straight line, but in the corners, too.

Furthermore,  A1 Clubsport Quattro comes with a full aerodynamics wide body kit. The width is increased will full 60 mm. There is also an adjustable coilover suspension.

The vehicle stands on enormous 19” alloy wheels fitted with ultra-performance 255/30 ZR19 tires.

The interior is very poor – bucket seats, a leather finish for the center console and a crossbar instead of rear seats. Still, this is an ultra-performance car, so it doesn’t need anything else.
