  • 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is Ready for the Market!

Like its Coupe brother, the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is built with ultra-lightweight carbon fiber monocoque and minimum redundant structural additions. The body includes redesigned aluminum rollover structure, especially crafted carbon-fiber windscreen frame and engine components, built from high-strength steel. Overall, the car looks beautiful and confident. But let’s see what else it has to offer.

    Exterior

One of the first things we noticed is the redesigned front. It comes with covered projector-style xenon headlamps, that previously were only optional, while now they are included in the standard pack for the Spider. The back is also restyled: it comes with distinctive Spider buttresses and redesigned engine cover. Further additions are the heat extractors and the rear spoiler.

Of course, the body is not restyled just to be beautiful. Alfa Romeo team paid attention to the aerodynamic characteristic of the Spider. Now the Spider comes with even better aerodynamic features, that include minimal wind and noise intrusion when the roof is stowed away.

    Interior

The inside welcomes you with a redesigned Alpine head and Alfa Hi Fi audio system. And of course all the components are crafted to ensure maximum comfort and usability. And for customers, who want even more, the engineer team offers premium leather stitching and matching door cards as optional additions. Sweet.

    Drivetrain system

This beauty is powered by all-aluminum 1750 TBi 240 hp (176 kW) engine, that provides a total of 258lb-ft. The 0-100 km/h (62mph) run is over in less than 4.5 seconds and the top speed is 288 km/h (160 mph). And just like the Coupe version the Spider generates the same 1.1g of lateral acceleration and 1.25g of braking deceleration.

    Packs and Trims

The standard pack for Alfa Romeo 4C Spider includes the upgraded audio system, luxury floor mats, glove compartment with leather cover, parking sensors and cruise control, carbon-fibre windscreen frame and xenon headlamps.

    Prices start from £59,500

  • Alfa Romeo is the New Yellow

Enough is enough already! After a series of teasing and leaked images, Alfa Romeo finally showed its 2015 redesigned Alfa Romeo 4C Spider at the North American International Auto Show. If you liked the initial 4C Coupe design, you will be glad to know that the automaker has preserved bigger part of it. Not to disappoint those who have been expecting it to be improved, the car arrives with some alterations. Just to spice things up a bit.

You might get bored, though, from the powerplant since power is still produced by the same four-cylinder, 1.75-liter turbocharged gasoline engine used in the 4C Coupe. It generates 177 HP (237 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of maximum torque.

The thing that is quite different is the optional exit lightweight Akrapovic exhaust system that comes with center-mounted tips with carbon fiber surrounds. The performance status hasn’t been changed either so the new 4C Spider covers the 0-60 mph run in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. To bore you even more with listing the same features, just like the 4C Coupe, the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will be available with the standard and the Racing exhaust system.

Perhaps the most notable alteration is the removable roof which refines the traditional spider body look. And honestly, the open-top is the only thing that I find exiting. Otherwise, it is just the same as its sibling! Almost. The open-air model also receives refined headlights which are somehow slightly more appealing and attractive than the old version. Another new attachment is the set of either 17-inch (front)/18-inch (rear) or 18-inch (front)/19-inch (rear) sizes all-new wheels in Silver or Dark finishes.

The color… In combination with chopping off the roof, adding a new color is the easiest way to expand the range. So by giving the car this saturated yellowness, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider US version kind of really manages to sting one’s vision.

Unfortunately, the price hasn’t been announced yet.

  • Debut For Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Prototype

Alfa-Romeo-4C-Spider-Prototype-THUMBAnother exclusive premiere in Geneva is making the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Prototype. The vehicle previews a new production model scheduled to be introduced in early 2015. The car takes full advantage of the ultra-rigid construction typical for the 4C and also is built with an extensive use of carbon fiber.

This lightweight material can be found on the rollover bars, spoilers and windscreen frame. In addition to this, what also save weight are the canvas soft top and the replacement of the glass rear screen with a continuation of the SMC bodywork.

Moreover, carbon fibre dominates throughout the cabin. Precisely, the monocoque of the 4C Spider Prototype is constructed entirely from this material and is clearly visible in the centre console, door sills and rear bulkhead.

New in here is also the dual-stage central exhaust system with titanium and carbon tailpipes by Akrapovic. A key feature of this exhaust is an electrically-operated valve system that improves performance and enhances the exhaust note at the push of a wirelessly-linked button.

The car is driven by Alfa Romeo’s four-cylinder, all-aluminium, 1750 Turbo Petrol engine. The unit is coupled with six-speed, dual dry-clutch Alfa TCT transmission, and drives the rear wheels. From 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) the model accelerates for 4.5 seconds, while the top speed is in excess of 155 mph.

Carbon fibre clamshell headlights have been fitted to this vehicle. Also exclusive are the alloy wheels, milled from solid aluminium blocks and fitted with bespoke Pirelli tyres. Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Prototype is finished in three-layer gloss white, which additionally highlights car’s beautifully sculpted shape and masterfully resolved surfaces.
