  • The Limited Vauxhall ADAM For iPhone Users

Vauxhall-ADAM-Black-Edition-shadowVauxhall-ADAM-Black-Edition-mediumAndroid users, look away. Vauxhall are releasing a limited edition model of the ADAM city car range that draws inspiration from the iPhone. There will be a total of 250 vehicles sold as two sub-editions: ADAM White and ADAM Black. The latter comes with a…sigh… “I’ll be Black” paint job. We don’t know how to feel about that witticism.

Whatever, let’s get down (sorry) to business. Both of the cars are stuck with this one engine: a 1.4-liter plant. Mind you, it’s not a bad one. It has 10 valves with variable timing and thus a spirited output of 87 PS. The sprint from 0 to 62 mph takes 12.5 seconds which is not bad for a car that returns 51.4 mpg and emits just 130 g/km of CO2 into the atmosphere.

On the outside, complementing the main color theme, is the brushed aluminum feel found on the mirror caps and the grille. Other stand-out features include the tinted rear windows and the twister-like 18-inch wheel.

Inside the Ocio Black/White Morrocana interior (Black or White depending on which edition you go for) is where Apple comes into play. Yes, the ADAM is equipped with the company’s native Intellink infotainment system, but it also has Siri Eyes Free voice control. Anyone using an iOS6 iPhone can comfortably and safely activate the Siri function via the steering wheel controls and operate it with voice commands. Just don’t get too carried away. The last time we saw someone trying to form a relationship with an operating system, we left the cinema with a broken heart. And this one has wheels now.

  • 2013 Opel Adam LPG – EU Price €16,150

Opel has unveiled a more economical bi-fuel version of the Adam, which is now able to run on LPG. The new ADAM 1.4 LPG ecoFLEX is optimized for operation with LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), but can also run on gasoline – the driver can have the remaining driving range readout shown on the digital instrument display at any time.

2013 Opel Adam LPG is powered by a four-cylinder 1.4 liter ecoFLEX petrol with 87HP (64 kW). It needs 6.9 liters / 100 km (34 mpg US) with CO2 emissions of only 112 g/km when running on LPG.

The LPG tank is under the floor in the rear which means cargo capacity has been preserved as well as the safety. It can hold 35 liters, which means that the Adam has a range of approximately 500 km (310 miles), while together with the gasoline tank it will do around 1,200 km (745 miles).

2013 Opel Adam LPG is priced from €16,150 (VAT included) in Germany.

With the ADAM 1.4 LPG ecoFLEX, Opel expands its LPG fleet to ten models: the Corsa (three and five-door), Astra (five-door and Sports Tourer), Meriva and Zafira Tourer as well as the new Insignia (four and five-door sedans, Sports Tourer) are already available as bi-fuel LPG versions.

  • Opel Adam Rally Cup [video]

Here is a nice video of the new sporty Opel Adam Cup published in Youtube by Claus Moller. The rally car is priced from below €25,000 making it very affordable.

2013 Opel Adam Cup is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 140 HP (103 kW). Considering its low weight, sport suspension, bigger brakes and performance tires, the small car brings a lot of driving pleasure.

The video shows some drifting and fast driving at the countryside.

Last, but not least the Opel Adam Cup is eligible to compete in the ADAC Opel Rally Cup offering good rewards for the successful drivers and a lot of cash prizes. The series features a special “junior rally” points system for drivers younger than 27 years old.

    Enjoy!

  • 2013 Vauxhall Adam: first official images revealed

2013-Vauxhall-Adam-THUMBThe first official images of 2013 Vauxhall Adam has just been released and we can see how excitingly stylish and sophisticated this car looks. Adam is a three-door four-seater built with the help of the highest quality materials. This Vauxhall is to be presented to the public officially at this year’s Paris Motorshow.

The design philosophy of the car was implemented by the Brit, Mark Adams’ team in Europe. It has a “floating” roof which is visually disconnected from the body. The aim is to use more than one colour for the body and to make the vehicle even more eclectic.

Adam carries design signatures which are typical for other Vauxhalls: the crisp line around the door handle (GTC), the wing-shaped chrome grille bar (new Astra) and the blade shape in the lower doors. However, it will include as an option a LED daytime running lights, making it the first car of the A-Segment to incorporate this.

It is all about personalization here which can match any individual taste. There are plenty of visual combinations, with a wide variety of exterior colours: two different roof colours, interior colours, equipment and materials.

Not only will be the car unique to its driver, but also it will be offered with a choice of three efficient ecoFLEX four-cylinder petrol engines: 1.2-litre 70 hp (52 kW), plus two 1.4-litre engines with either 87 hp (64 kW) or 100 hp (74 kW). In addition the optional Start/Stop technology will further improve the efficiency of the Adam. All engines will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

It was especially designed to support new media sources, including Bluetooth, as well as connectivity for smartphones with Android or Apple iOS software. Of course, this will enable access to internet-based applications, including GPS navigation.

In particular, the system utilizes state-of-the-art seven-inch, full-colour touch screen display. Thanks to it the driver and the passenger next to them can quickly access the variety of on-board controls.

Next, the technologies included here are also unique to the segment. An example is the Advanced Park Assist II system. With its help the drivers switch on the system with a button on the dashboard and it tells them when they reach a parking space large enough to accommodate the car.

Adam comes equipped with a front suspension created by MacPherson and with a compound crank system at the rear. The wheels are in sizes from 16- to 18-inch, and cars that are specified with 17- or 18-inch rims come as standard with the lowered sports chassis.
