  • Abarth 695 Maserati Edition – Price and Specs

Abarth-695-Maserati-Edition-Fiat-500-thumbYou remember the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition, right? The one that is based on a Fiat 500c? It now has a price tag and a full list of specs. Both of them are big.

The Abarth 695 Maserati Edition is a followup of the Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari project which was a big hit three years ago. There will be only 499 examples of this new one and as the name suggests, it will carry a Gran Turismo feel wherever it goes.

First, the oily bits: under the hood hides a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v engine that sends 180 bhp trough an Abarth Competizione gearbox. Pass the 3000 rpm mark and your years will have the pleasure to endure the aria sung by the variable back-pressure “dual-mode” exhaust pipes. Stomp on the brakes and a set of Brembo monoblock brake calipers will squeeze the front 305 mm floating discs so hard, that afterwards you’ll have to feel your way under the seat in search of your face. All the while, Koni shock absorbers make sure you come home with an intact spine.

As a trademark, the Abarth 695 Maserati comes in a characteristic Pontevecchio Bordeaux – a three-layered shade from Maserati’s catalog that we can only describe as red. The thing that sticks out as gray is the fabric of the soft top. Another mark of Maserati engineering represents the wheels – Neptune design alloy wheels, 17-inches in size and wrapped up in performance tires.

Inside, the predominant theme is beige which sounds a bit tasteless, but the overall effect is quite surprising. A 695 logo is embossed on the headrests, the dashboard and console trim has a lining of carbon fiber and the door panels and rear panels have been treated with UV-LUX for that extra gray “flocking” effect. In front of you, there’s a black-leather steering wheel with patches of beige, flappy paddles for the gearbox, an instrument panel by Jaeger and aluminum pedals in the foot well.

    Final summation – £32,000 or $50,553

  • Abarth 695 Maserati Edition at the Mille Miglia 2012

Abarth 695 Maserati Edition will be run in limited series of 499 units. The model will make its official debut on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mille Miglia, which Enzo Ferrari called “the most beautiful race in the world”.

Displayed at Piazza della Loggia in Brescia in the midst of the collectors’ automotive jewels and “luxury cars” of today, this glamorous car represents the bond between Abarth and Maserati, based on a host of shared values, including attention to detail, elegance and a passion for performance and sport.

The new Abarth 695 Maserati Edition is powered by a 1.4 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 180HP (132 kW) at 5500RPM and 250Nm (185 lb-ft) of torque at 3000RPM. The engine is mated to a 5-speed Abarth Competizione gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel.

    0-100 km/h in 7 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h (140 mph).

The fuel consumption is great – 8.4 l / 100 km in city, 5.4 l on the highway and 6.5 liters per 100 km combined cycle.

The front suspension features Abarth Koni shock absorbers with FSD valve. At the rear, the small car comes with the same setup. The ride is lowered in order to improve the handling and the traction.

Speaking for handling, the steering features electric power with “sport mode”.

The brake system is also new – 305 mm x 22 mm perforated and self-ventilating front discs and 264 mm x 22 perforated rear. There is also a TTC – Torque Transfer Control improving the traction.

Abarth 695 Maserati Edition rolls 7J x 17” alloy wheels fitted with 205/40 R17 tires.
