  • This Mercedes-AMG A45 makes it to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds! We thank POSAIDON for that

    POSAIDON Mercedes-AMG A45 RS485 front view

    POSAIDON A45 RS485+ is a true 315 km/h sportscar hunter!

As Mercedes-Benz A-Class driver, I’m always hyped when a tuner goes for this model. This time the heroes in my eyes are the experts at POSAIDON, which has given their best to modify the hottest among hatchbacks – the Mercedes-AMG A45 is the hottest of the hot hatchbacks.

Besides the beautiful looks, the car is the most powerful among its range: its original output is measured at 360 hp (235 kW) that were increased to 381 hp (280 kW) via last year’s facelift. What’s making the driving experience even more exciting is the relatively modest weight of the A45, the intelligent all-wheel system and the exhilarating 7-speed DCT. Potent, right?

SEE ALSO: Mercedes-AMG E63 better than Bugatti and LaFerrari?

Well, on this fantastic basis are working the tuning specialists at POSAIDON, who have improved the sleeping potential of this hatch. Lo and behold, the A45 RS485+ was born! And by the way, this is the most potent interpretation of AMG A45 so far!

The goal was to produce nothing less than 500 hp. So, to achieve this, the first thing POSAIDON did was substitute the standard turbocharger with a racing one. The latter features bespoke larger turbine. Added to the impeller wheels and gas-flowed scroll housing, this is allowing the unit to process the required amount of air and to use a higher boost pressure.

The next step was to scrutinize the air intake system to ensure that the big turbo gets as much air as it needs. Then low restriction air filter and high efficiency intercooler were too mounted.

    POSAIDON Mercedes-AMG A45 RS485 rear view

Step three was to improve the other side of the engine, namely – the exhaust. This happened with the means of optimized, larger diameter, stainless steel downpipe with the option of a free-flow, 200-cell catalytic converter. Everything else in the exhaust stays unchanged. The result is reduced exhaust gas temperatures and thermal stress on the engine and cooling system. At last, POSAIDON remapped the engine and transmission software, in order to make full advantage of the hardware upgrades.

What happened at the dyno tests? Besides the aimed 500 hp, the car showed capability of 555 Nm (404 lb-ft) of torque. The top speed is electronically limited to 315 km/h, meaning it can go far beyond this. The stopwatch? Well, it recorder something remarkable: 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds!

To tame this extra power, POSAIDON also tuned the uprated front brake kit with the addition of 365×34 mm vented steel discs, clamped by six-pot callipers. Steel brake hoses contribute for a firmer and better pedal feel.

I would love driving this beautiful piece of art. How about you?

  • Rare Mercedes-AMG A45 Edition 1 Sees More Power and Torque Than Ever

Posaidon Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Front ViewPosaidon has been very active lately (see in the link below) and this time they have sent us a very exclusive project, which again involves a Mercedes. However, what is particularly very cool about this car and what has impressed me much is that the tuning company has worked with the rare Posaidon Mercedes-AMG A45 Edition 1. The changes featured here not only involve power uprating but also feature some additional upgrades which we’ll discuss in details.

    The Excellent Tracktool

The Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC is the perfect basis for power uprating because it initially offers impressive performance and exclusive optical properties. This is the reason why the tuning company did not hesitate to develop right away a breathtaking tracktool.

SEE ALSO: Posaidon Ensures that There is an excess of 700 HP for the Mercedes-AMG C63 Station Wagon

Posaidon’s tracktool-package features a complex overhaul of the four-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged engine. The result is impressive increase in power, which I will reveal you in a moment.

    Posaidon Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Rear View

The boost was made possible via the addition of upgraded turbocharger, catless downpipe and revised the engine control software that includes the fine-tuning on a dynamometer. In addition, the tuners also optimized the charge air cooling and the airflow for the intake air.

As a result, the increase in power is up to 485 hp (357 kW) and 555 Nm (410 lb-ft) of torque. In combination with the reinforced transmission, the powerhouse now reaches a top speed of 310 km/h.

    Other Goodies

Nevertheless, this impressive performance requires an upgraded deceleration means. So, Posaidon offers an upgrade for the original braking system or special two-piece potted discs. At last, the conversion of the A45 Edition 1 includes in-house made speed-trap update for the navigational system, unlocking of the TV-Mode and the deactivation of the Start/Stop-ECO mode.

  • Mercedes-AMG Celebrates F1 with A45 4MATIC Champions Edition

Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Champions Edition Front ViewMercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Champions Edition is a very special vehicle, which celebrates the victory in the constructors’ world championship as well as the drivers’ championship included in the motorsport’s champion’s league this year. It actually marks the end of the season and this is why it blends the expressive Formula 1 look of the victorious Silver Arrows with extensive and abundant equipment.

It was actually very strange for me to grasp how Mercedes-AMG could do something like that. Precisely, I mean that it was the least model that I have expected to get a Champions Edition. However, it looks very cool and has (fortunately) nothing to do with the A-Class models from the early 2000.

SEE ALSO: CHROMETEC Offers Visual and Functional Upgrade for Mercedes AMG GT

The new version of the A-Class is probably the most compact performance athlete in the world. With its maximum output of 381 hp (280 kW) and its standard AMG Performance all-wheel drive and the front axle differential lock, the special edition is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds.

    PETRONAS Inspired Exterior

Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Champions Edition Exterior from the Rear

So, as you can see, this A45 4MATIC runs on very large wheels, sized 19‑inch, painted in titanium grey and accentuated with a petrol green rim. The exterior of the car also features the one-off foiling of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS 2015 World Champion Edition. This means that every owner will literally take a part of the Formula 1 success from the race track to the road.

In details, the foiling includes the iconic petrol green and black highlights of the design of the winning F1 W06 HYBRID super model. In addition, the Champions Edition also received a streamlining package. At the front it includes a larger splitter and special flics, while the rear was enhanced with an extra roof spoiler. There are three paintworks available for this edition and they include mountain grey metallic, designo mountain grey magno and polar silver metallic.

Other equipment features include Night package, the AMG Performance seats, the AMG Exclusive package and the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package.

    Interior Inspired by Motorsport

    Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Champions Edition Interior

The cabin is too inspired by motorsport. Some of the very cool features here are the quality badge on the lid of the stowage compartment with the official lettering of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, the electronically adjustable Performance sports seats in leather/DINAMICA microfibre and contrasted with fine petrol green topstitching on the armrests and dashboard, the petrol green rings in the air vents plus the seat belts, and the petrol green highlight strips.

Mercedes-AMG A45 4MATIC Champions Edition will make a global debut at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Yas Marina on 26 November. It will be available from January till May with a starting price of 65,402.40 euros. And I find it entirely worth this amount.

  • Take a Look at this Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG by Folien Experte! It is 435HP Strong

Folien Experte Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Side ViewMercedes-Benz A45 AMG by Folien Experte not only looks good but it’s more potent than ever. This car has received a beautiful modification for its exterior by the simple addition of… foil. The special color of the wrap-material gives the Mercedes a sense of aristocratism and posture. In addition, the A45 AMG also features engine boost, which we will discuss a little bit later. Better chassis and new wheels are also a prerequisite.

    Wrapping Makes Miracles

It literally does. The specialists at Folien Experte wrapped this AMG tuned A-class with high quality matt chrome red foil. The result is stunning and to make sure of that you just need to look at the pictures in the gallery below.

But the work on the car did not end here. The chassis optimization was made by means of 3 KW-coilover suspension and a great wheel & tire combination. Brabus Monoblock F alloys in 8,5×19-inch size were fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires in the dimension of 235/35R19.

    Tweaked Engine

Improved performance is attributed to the experts at PP-Performance. They have done many things for the A45 AMG among which are the chip tuning, race filters, Catless kit and sports exhaust system. As a result, the serial 360 hp (265 kW) have been boosted up to the merciless 435 hp (320 kW). And that’s what we call a pretty nice way to round out a tuning!
