    Toyota Fun-Vii Concept
The innovations from Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) can be seen at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011. The Corporation will present the futuristic “Toyota Fun-Vii”1, which is a vehicle concept, that heralds the close future, they assure us. In these times, people, cars and society will be all linked. If you are willing to witness those innovative ideas yourself, the show will take place from November 30 till December 11 at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward. Everything will stand under the theme: “Mobility can change the world.”

Now let’s review what’s so impressive about this new concept from TMC.

    VEHICLE FEATURES

If you have ever dreamed that you can easily alter the content displayed on the interior and exterior, then this car of the future offers you this ultimate in personalization function. What is the so fascinating, for example is that the whole vehicle body can be used as a display space, with the body color and display content changeable at will. The benefit of this is not only the exercise of your free will, but also this allows the entire vehicle to function as a mechanism for displaying messages or other information.

What is more interesting is that the entire interior of the vehicle can also function as a display space. Moreover – the interior is freely adjustable to match the mood of the moment. Further developments are made in the way the information is shown.  For instance, the content such as navigation information is blended seamlessly into the interior through the use of augmented reality. Futuristic, isn’t it? In addition, only through a vocal interface, the vehicle’s “navigation concierge” can provide the passengers with driving information and guidance.

Furthermore here is presented the idea ensuring that the driver will have the latest network software versions for the vehicle’s drive, control and multimedia system. This will be made through a network update function.

Everything about The Fun-Vii is concentrated around connection. What I mean is that the ultra-futuristic vehicle will be able to link with surrounding vehicles and infrastructure, allowing it to detect other potentially hazardous vehicles-such as vehicles in blind spots-in advance. Even more – it will be able to connect with friends who are driving nearby.

Of course, vehicle’s functions will be easily accessible remotely via a smartphone or other mobile communication device.

Obviously TMC is offering a fresh proposal and is providing the dream and joy of motor vehicles to as many people as possible. And in addition to the Toyota Fun-Vii is absolutely and fully responding to TMC”s slogan: “Fun to Drive, Again.”

  • 2012 Toyota GT 86 at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show

Finally, Toyota will officially reveal the new GT 86 sports car at the 42nd the Tokyo motor show on November 30. The compact 2+2 model, one of the most keenly awaited new cars of the coming year, will go on sale in the UK in June 2012.

The new GT 86 is an entirely driver-focused, which is designed to deliver maximum pleasure behind the steering wheel. The sports car has instant response to the smallest throttle and steering inputs and the kind of performance that appeals to those for whom driving is a passion, not a necessity.

The GT 86 measures 4 240 mm long, 1 285 mm high and 1775 mm wide,  with a wheelbase of 2 570mm, dimensions which make it the most compact four-seater sports car available today.

The car is built on a new platform featuring a highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the car’s mechanical elements. Both the powertrain and the driving position have been set as low and as far back as possible to achieve the best balance: the car has a near-perfect 53:47 front-to-rear weight distribution.

2012 Toyota GT 86 is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine with equal bore and stroke of 86.0mm. It generates 200PS (147 kW) at 7000RPM and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque at 6600RPM. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. The automatic transmission can be controlled using paddle shifts mounted on the steering wheel.

The power is put on the road through rear wheels via a LSD (limited slip differential) to give the best possible grip in all driving conditions. The ABS and switchable vehicle stability control systems have been tuned specifically to deliver dynamic stability at the limit of the car’s performance envelope with minimal electronic intervention to help preserve the purity of the driving experience.

The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear. The car rides on 17” wheels and is fitted with ventilated disc brakes fore and aft.

With its staggering look, rear-wheel-drive and the nice naturally aspirated petrol engine, the new GT 86 will turn in one of the best sport coupes on the market.

  • BMW Concepts at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show

BMW will bring the two famous concepts – i3 and i8 at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show, next month. With the “i series”, the BMW Group is adopting an all-embracing approach, redefining the understanding of personal mobility with purpose-built vehicle concepts, a focus on sustainability throughout the value chain and a range of complementary mobility services. Both vehicles were introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, this year.

BMW i3 Concept is a small 5-door city car, which can carry up to four occupants. It is powered by an electric motor with 170PS (125 kW) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph). The lithium-ion battery pack delivers enough energy for range up to 160 km (100 miles). It can be recharged in just 6 hours to 100%. The overall weight of the vehicle is 1250 kg (2755 lbs).

BMW i8 Concept is a sports car, which comes with a three-cylinder turbocharger petrol engine combined with an electric motor. The total power is 353PS (260 kW) and 550Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque, so the performance is superb – 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The car weighs just 1480kg. The i8 can go on electricity alone up to 32 km (20 miles). The fuel consumption is amazing for such amount of power – 2.7 l per 100 km with CO2 emissions of 66 g/km.

An additional range of mobility services – which can also be used independently of the cars – will be an integral component of BMW i alongside the vehicles themselves. A totally new development in this area will be vehicle-independent mobility services.
