  • Is Honda HR-V Showing the best Fuel Efficiency in its Class?

Honda HR-V Side ViewNovember last year was the month when Honda HR-V was officially unveiled. To be honest, it surprised me very much, due to its innovative design and CR-V-inspired forms. Now, the Japanese company has announced that the model will be also one of the most efficient vehicles in its class and will offer dreamt-about characteristics.

The styling of the car is literally breath-taking. From the outside one can also judge that there is enough space inside. As a typical Honda the car features advanced infotainment and safety technologies.

But where does its perfect fuel efficiency range come from? The answer: two engines – the 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol, both coming directly from Honda’s advanced Earth Dreams Technology series.

Furthermore, the first one is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and this also helps the HR-V deliver 4.0 l/100km and 104 g/km of CO2. However, there is no compromise on performance, since the diesel unit produces 120 hp (88 kW). Not to mention that the HR-V is capable of acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds.

Those who are keener on gasoline engines have the option of 1.5 litre i-VTEC, which achieves a fuel economy of 5.2 l/100km and CO2 emissions from 120 g/km. This is only in the case of CVT automatic transmission.

If the unit is coupled with a standard six-speed manual, the fuel efficiency is 5.6 l/100km and CO2 emissions are rated at 130 g/km. The great performance of the car is proved because it is capable of reaching the 100 km/h in just 10.3 seconds with the manual and 10.9 seconds when equipped with the optional CVT.

  • 2016 HR-V is the Roomiest Honda in the Range

The all-new 2016 Honda HR-V delivers a one-off styling, sophisticated driving dynamics and a fuel-efficient performance. It is part of the upgraded range of Honda vehicles which adopts the ground-breaking technological approach of the brand. Portraying a distinctive poise and perfectly sculptured lines, the SUV becomes a synonym for automotive greatness!

Regarding its power, the HR-V will be available in the UK with front-wheel drive only and a choice of fuel-efficient 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine that delivers 130 PS and 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engines producing 120 PS. Customers can configure both variants with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission with paddle-shift available on some versions. Both power units are Euro 6 compliant and are part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series.

Outwardly, the new HR-V demonstrates sufficient sporty tone. Its body shape, horizontal-oriented front and rear bumpers, rear window line, revamped headlamps and unified front grille create a sharper and more angular stance. What is more, the design makes the car appear more purposeful. Furthermore, there is a fuel tank integrated under the front seats. It enables the use of the 60:40 split Magic Seats that have several configurations.

Focusing on practicality, Honda provides more than just enough space for travelers. They can take advantage of a class-leading space with leg-, shoulder- and headroom in the front and rear. There is astounding space offered by the boot as well. Its capacity amounts at 453 litres with the rear seats in use, and 1026 litres to the window line with the rear seats folded away. Soft-touch surfaces and a piano-black feature panel put emphasis on the car’s sophisticated presence too. Finally, Honda HR-V is equipped with a 7-inch Honda Connect touchscreen that comes as standard on the Sport and Executive models. A 5-inch touchscreen is available for the entry level variants. There is an Android 4.0.4 operating system run by the OS.

The car is set to arrive in the UK in the summer of 2015.

  • 2016 Honda HR-V is What We Have Been Waiting For?

2016-Honda-HR-V-THMB2016 Honda HR-V Crossover is finally here! It was fully revealed at the Ls Angeles Auto Show after being premiered as a prototype in Paris this September. The car will be arriving in dealerships early next year, when it will enter the crossover market. The small SUV features dynamic and refined exterior, shows great performance as well as fuel economy. Interior spaciousness and cabin versatility are other two qualities worth mentioning.

The unique platform design of the vehicle features center-mounted fuel tank and reconfigurable second-row “Magic Seat”, delivering 100.1 cu. ft. of passenger volume (LX) and 58.8 cu. ft. of cargo volume with the second row seats down.

The “face” of the HR-V features the typical design. However, when I saw the sides of the car, I immediately thought about the CR-V. Actually, it looks like a smaller version of Honda’s emblematic SUV with its dynamic appearance and sporty, solid stance. An element which I liked very much and which is taken from the Civic is the concealed rear door handles. So the designers managed to great a great combination of some of the best Honda designs here.

Inside, the interior is spacious enough and features soft-touch materials and details such as the bezels, stitch lines and brushed chrome and piano black highlights. The three-meter driver’s instrument cluster immediately grabs the attention with the “floating” illumination rings and brand’s ECO Assist feature. The speedometer illumination changes from white to green depending on the fuel efficiency of the car.

2016 HR-V is driven by the updated 1.8-liter SOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with i-VTEC valvetrain. It generates 138 horsepower (102 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 172 Nm (127 lb.-ft.) of torque at 4,300 rpm. The unit is coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda “G-design” shift logic, or can be linked to a slick-shifting 6-speed manual transmission in the 2WD models. The all-wheel-drive drivetrain configuration features company’s Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System.

Safety performance is ensured thanks to the addition of the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) front body structure as well as the standard four-channel anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control, an Expanded View Driver’s Mirror, a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera, dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, driver and front passenger SmartVent side airbags and side-curtain airbags and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Speaking about standard equipment we should mention the power windows, power mirrors and power door and tailgate locks, electronic parking brake, rearview camera, aluminum-alloy wheels, tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink phone interface and Pandora radio. They come in all three HR-V trims: LX, EX and EX-L.

Depending on the trim level, the crossover might get 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio telematics interface, Honda LaneWatch, Smart Entry/Push-Button Start, paddle shifters, SiriusXM radio, HD Radio and Honda Digital Traffic, heated front seats, a power sunroof, embedded navigation and leather trim.
