  • You Have Now the Opportunity to Buy the Record-breaking Focus RS

2016 Ford Focus RS Front ViewRecord-breaking 2016 Ford Focus RS is now going on sale in the United States. But even better, those who are keen on the Focus RS can start saving the money, because its production has been initiated in Saarlouis, Germany, and in fact the first ever all-new Focus RS has already rolled off the line there.

The long-anticipated, 350-horsepower hot hatch arrives this spring to bring about potent and attractive hot hatch lineup. In fact the car looks better than ever before and it will definitely improve Ford’s sales. For instance, the Focus ST has increased sales by 9 percent last year while Fiesta ST saw a gain of 4 percent.

In addition, the performance line-up by ford is set to grow by three models this year. The Focus RS will be joined by F-150 Raptor, which is going to debut this fall and the anticipated Ford GT supercar that goes into production late this year. And don’t forget that the lineup already includes Shelby GT350 and GT350R, which debuted last year.

As a matter of fact, Ford has put out the goal to bring the Focus RS to customers globally through 2020. The car is worth it because it has been developed by a team of Ford Performance engineers in Europe and the U.S.

One of the strongest benefits of the model is its engine. Under the hood of the model is the specially engineered version of Ford’s new 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. It has been boosted recently and now pumps out 350 horsepower (257 kW), which is an addition of 30 hp when compared to the previous variant. The torque is rated at 474 Nm (350 lb-ft). And have I mentioned that its 4.7-second 0-62-mph sprint makes the high-performance hatchback the fastest-accelerating Ford RS model ever!

Even more, the manual-only hot hatch will debut with a trick feature called stall recovery. This means that there will be no need for drivers to manually restart the engine. Focus RS also introduces innovative Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. This feature will offer new levels of handling, grip and cornering speed. At last, we should also mention that for the first time, the RS model gets launch control and selectable drive modes. Among them is the industry-first drift mode which allows controlled oversteer drifts.

  • 2016 Ford Focus RS Receives an Extra of 30HP to its 2.3-liter EcoBoost Engine

2016 Ford Focus RS Side View2016 Ford Focus RS has one of the most wanted engines in the entire Ford range: this of the Mustang, called 2.3-liter EcoBoost. The unit was added to the range in February with an announcement that it will produce 320 PS (235 kW). However, things change into better direction and the motor company has announced that this number will be improved. That’s pretty exciting, isn’t it?

    EcoBoost

The grand news is that the EcoBoost in the 2016 Focus RS will produce 350 horsepower (257 kW), which is an addition of 30 hp. The torque is rated at 474 Nm (350 lb-ft). Even more, the manual-only hot hatch will debut with a trick feature called stall recovery. This means that there will be no need for drivers to manually restart the engine.

And if you wonder why this output is achievable, it is due to its all-new low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger with a larger compressor wheel. It offers more airflow and power throughout the rev range. Precisely, the peak turbocharger boost is 23.2 psi.

In addition, the engineers ensured that there is more space up front. This allowed them to deploy a larger radiator than the usually used in the Focus, thus enhancing the cooling of the car. Furthermore, RS engineers also tuned the engine to deliver its horsepower up to a free-spinning 6,800 rpm. And this is probably one of the biggest surprises about this car.

New Golden Age for Ford Performance

2016 Ford Focus RS is one of the cars that are featured in the new golden age of Ford Performance. There are plans for more than 12 high-performance that are going to be introduced in the next 5 years. Another interesting fact is that the Focus RS is the 30th car to wear the praised RS badge. We are expecting the production of the 2016 Focus RS with 2.3-liter EcoBoost to begin later this year.

  • The New Ford Focus RS Has the Mustang’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost Engine

After the huge leak this morning, Ford finally revealed the long-anticipated third-generation Focus RS. The car is said to offer undoubted fun-to-drive experience, advanced technologies, class-leading cornering speed and impressive performance.

2016 Ford Focus RS takes its power from the Mustang’s four-cylinder 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline engine. Here this power unit boosts 320 PS (235 kW). Exact torque figures haven’t been announced yet but Ford shared that they had to upgrade the six-speed manual gearbox so that it could deal with the extra torque.

Power is transmitted to Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive system with Dynamic Torque Vectoring. This promises to produce “a new level of handling capability and driver enjoyment, combining outstanding traction and grip with unmatched agility and cornering speed.”

Taking into consideration the exterior, the new Focus RS demonstrates high-performance design which is dramatic and more muscular. The car’s powerful look is reinforced by a bold upper trapezoidal grille which stays above the deep front splitter, lower wings and large outboard openings on each side of the car, distinctive rear roof spoiler, body-colored side panels with RS logo and a large diffuser at the rear which optimizes air flow from under the vehicle to reduce drag. There are four exterior colors: Nitrous Blue, Stealth Grey, Absolute Black and Frozen White.

19-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in 235/35 R19 tires provided by Michelin are components which accentuate the appearance of the hatch too. They include a high-performance lightweight forged design finished in low-gloss black as well.

Stepping inside the cabin we are introduced into an environment which is simpler but more intuitive. Some of the upgrades for the new Focus include Recaro sport seats, a 10-speaker Sony sound system and an eight-inch SYNC infotainment system. The latter can work with a rear view camera. Finally, there is a flat-bottomed steering wheel covered in leather, as well as alloy foot pedals and one-of-a-kind instrument graphics on the gear shifter.

  • 2016 Ford Focus RS at the Nurburgring [video]

2016 Ford Focus RS has been spied during hardcore tests around the world’s most tough race track – Nurburgring. The ultra-hot hatchback is going to come with the typical FWD (front-wheel drive), extremely powerful EcoBoost engine and a lot of improvements.

The range-topping RS model will be powered by a 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine from a Ford Mustang – 330HP (243 kW) and around 450Nm (333 lb-ft) of torque. This is 30HP more power than its predecessor, which is powered by a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine. 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h (169 mph). The engine is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

A mechanical LSD (limited slip differential) will take care for the traction. There is also a new RevoKnuckle suspension ensuring perfect handling and minimizing the extreme torque steer. This is a typical problem of the powerful FWD cars, because the front wheels must do two function – steering and power transmission.

The 2016 Ford Focus RS will be priced from around €34,000 ($46,000) and will be available in Europe as well as in North America. The ultra-hot hatchback will face some serious competition in the face of the all-new Civic Type R, which will claim the King of the Ring title from the extreme Renault Megane RS 275.

    Stay tuned and enjoy!
