  • A Big Review on the Gen Six Camaros Governing the SEMA Show

Camaro Performance Concept Side ViewIf we think about what we were missing the most at this year’s SEMA show, it was definitely Chevy’s vehicles. The good news is that the company was extremely good represented at the event with not one but four customized concepts, which demonstrate the personalization and performance possibilities that the brand is offering. Of course, this comes to highlight the 2016 Camaro entering the dealerships across the country.

Precisely, the modified quartet features a Summit White Chevrolet Performance concept, a heritage inspired Camaro Hyper concept, the Camaro Black concept, and the innovative Camaro Krypton concept. The good news is that of you have liked one of them, you will have the chance to order some of the elements in accessory packages in early 2016. The accessories are viewable online via the Camaro Visualizer.

    Camaro Performance Concept

This Chevy is definitely dedicated to those keen on performance. The reason for this is because it utilizes new components like the performance air intake, exhaust system and a red engine cover. Not to mention the suspension-lowering kit and a Brembo front brake upgrade kit with six-piston calipers.

Dressed in beautiful Summit White exterior color, the Camaro Performance Concept is accented with “Chevrolet Performance” and stripe graphics. Also visible is the blacked-out panel between the taillamps and the huge 20-inch alloys.

Other cool features here include darkened taillamps, blade-style rear spoiler, front fascia extension, SS grille with red insert and black front and rear bowtie emblems. They all can be ordered from the Chevy Accessories store.

The interior of the model also features some modifications like the contrasting Jet Black leather and accented with Chevrolet Accessories components. Accents were added via the Red Hot door accent trim, while the Chevrolet Performance-logo finds itself on the console armrest cover and floor mats as well as pedal covers and Jet Black suede knee pads.

    Camaro Hyper Concept

    Camaro Hyper Concept Side View

Camaro Hyper makes a radical statement just with its Hyper Blue Metallic exterior. Just like the previous Camaro concept, this one has a contrasting cabin governed by Ceramic White interior. Inspired by the long heritage of the most beloved American brand, the car features white rally stripes and “Camaro” fender badges, as well as the rear spoiler from the RS package and 20-inch polished forged wheels.

Additional exterior and interior accessories are the front fascia extension painted in body color, the LT upper and lower grilles with Silver Ice Metallic inserts, the blue engine cover and the black illuminated front bowtie emblem. Inside, the cabin is adorned by Ceramic White knee pads and contrast-making black interior Spectrum door trim lighting. Camaro’s logo can be seen on the armrest cover and floor mats. Suspension lowering kit and new performance exhaust round out the package.

    Camaro Black Concept

    Camaro Black Concept Side View

Number three in our list is the blacked-out Camaro SS painted in Mosaic Black Metallic exterior color. The special thing about it is that it includes several custom exterior treatments such as hood vents in the same as exterior color, black-outlined SS badges, black-tinted windows, special Black Edition logos on the fenders, steering wheel and console cover as well as black 20-inch alloys.

Chevrolet Accessories are also present here. Namely, the Ground effects kit, the darkened taillamps and rear blade spoiler, the black bowtie emblems, black interior Spectrum door trim lighting, Chevrolet Performance-logo floor mats with light grey edging as well as the black suede knee pads. In terms of performance parts we should mention the exhaust and air intake kits, ant the brake upgrade kit and suspension- lowering kit.

    Camaro Krypton Concept

    Camaro Krypton Concept Side VIew

Last but not least is the Krypton Concept. In fact, it’s my favorite exterior among four.  Its paint scheme was inspired by the noble gas Krypton, which has the ability to illuminate fluorescent lights. Fluorescent green or Krypton Green is a custom hue developed specifically for this Gen Six SEMA concept.

But that is not all; the concept is also adorned by Chevy’s special treatment. It includes RS package that adds 20-inch wheels, high-intensity discharge headlamps trimmed in green, darkened taillamps, unique upper and lower grilles and a rear spoiler. Standing lower to the ground, via the addition of a sportier kit, this Camaro looks sportier than ever. And have you spotted the dual-mode exhaust with custom-painted exhaust tips? How cool is that?

In other words, we definitely feel satisfied from this year’s SEMA show line-up. Wonder what they have in mind for next year.

  • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Breaks Cover!

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Front View2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible has been finally revealed and it looks invigorating! The cabrio features the design of the coupe variant but has a retractable soft top. By the way, Chevrolet says that this top is the most advanced one in the segment. In terms of performance and design, this convertible literally stands out. And with the addition of the sophisticated top, the Camaro looks not only fantastic, but also delivers enjoyable ride.

Most Advanced Top in the Segment

If you wonder what’s so special about this top, you need to reed further. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is the only car in the cabriolet segment, which offers several functions related to its top. First, the latter operates fully automatically with the help of latches, thus automatically releasing and securing the top.

SEE ALSO: Have You Heard About the Gen Six Camaro?

The second feature is that it opens or closes at speeds of up to 30 mph, and can be also opened remotely via key fob. The next cool feature is that the hard tonneau cover is deployed automatically, in order to provide a more refined, finished appearance when the top is lowered and stowed.

Furthermore, the electro-hydraulic power roof system features multilayer construction. The benefit of this is that it improves the acoustic and thermal insulation. In addition, the system was designed to provide more comfortable and quieter ride.

    Design

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible From Above

Of course, there is nothing else different in the convertible from the coupe, excluding the top and the position of the antenna for the radio. The top perfectly emulates the sleek silhouette of the Camaro coupe.

Just like its sibling, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible is built on a stiffer, but lighter structure. By the way, the weight savings here are estimated at around 200 pounds compared to the previous generation. These facts also lead to the conclusion that the Camaro convertible will still have coupe’s “sharp chassis tuning and nimble reflexes”.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Chevy Camaro Convertible Leaks Ahead of Official Debut [VIDEO]

There is another advantage from this architecture. It enables the top to fold down completely beneath the belt line. Afterwards, the hard tonneau cover automatically covers the folded top, resulting in an exclusive design and appearance.

    EngineRange

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Engine Range

Just like the Chevy Camaro coupe, the convertible will be offered in LT and SS trim levels. There are six engine combinations offered, including the 2.0L Turbo unit, which has been rated at 275 horsepower (202 kW), the 3.6L V-6 producing 335 horsepower (246 kW), and the LT1 6.2L V-8 with 455 horsepower (335 kW) and 617 Nm (455 lb-ft) of torque. Each powertrain can be mated with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

2016 Chevy Camaro Convertible Leak Images2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible has already leaked right before it makes official debut tomorrow. Next to the released video at Chevrolet’s YouTube channel, it seems that the company “accidentally” released the pictures shown above on their site. They were after that removed, but conscious people at camaro6.com forum were fast enough to download them and later publish them.

What we basically see is that the 2016 Chevy Camaro Coupe in a convertible variant. And there is nothing more to that or anything surprising. The difference here is only in the retractable soft top and the changed position of the antenna.

    Official Teaser Video

In addition, Chevrolet also released an official video to tease the upcoming premiere of the convertible Camaro Six. You can view it below. In it Chevy says that there’s only one button between the driver and the sky and that the Camaro Convertible will soon reveal all its secrets.

SEE ALSO: Have You Heard About the Gen Six Camaro?

What is more, the company also stated that this will be the most innovative Camaro Convertible ever produced. And given the fact that we have already seen the pictures, we expect to see the innovations included mostly in terms of technology, engines and features.

    Expectations

    2016 Chevy Camaro Engines

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe debuted in May and by doing so it inspired the world with its beautiful forms and potent engines. The sixth gen Camaro has shed more than 200 pounds of its weight, thus achieving better driving experience and more responsiveness. So we definitely expect to see this approach applied in the convertible.

The range of engines for the coupe features six different powertrain combinations. The first one is found in the Camaro LT and it is the 2.0L Turbo, producing 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm).

The LT grade can be also equipped with the 3.6L V6 capable of 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 284 lb-ft (385 Nm) of torque. At last, the most powerful Camaro SS is powered by the 6.2L LT1 V8 engine rated at 455 horses (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm).

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will probably go on sale later this like its Coupe sibling.

It all goes down tomorrow. Stay tiuned!

  • Have You Heard About the Gen Six Camaro?

Finally, the sixth generation Chevrolet Camaro from the 2016 model year is here! It was introduced two days ago at a special event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park. From what we can see, this car undoubtedly carries the spirit of Chevy’s most popular car, but it is also lighter, more potent and features wide array of features. This basically means faster driving experience.

But, what’s new here? Well, the new Camaro is leaner, it is built over a stiffer platform and features slightly smaller dimensions. Its size is accentuated by a sculpted exterior, tuned in the wind tunnel. The result is more aero-dynamism combined with better handling and efficiency.

As a matter of fact, there are only two things that have been kept from the previous generation: the rear bowtie emblem and the SS badge. To achieve this unique result, the Gen Six Camaro, Chevrolet has focused on three main points: performance, technology and design.

    Exterior Design

The tighter and leaner stance of the Camaro has been created via the new light-weight architecture. It also makes the car more athletic and aerodynamic, because of its wider and lower look. Some of the new features of the exterior design are the LEDs, the ten exterior color choices (complemented by five interior color trims) and a lot of accessories.

In addition, the design was aerodynamically optimized after 350 hours of wind tunnel testing. The aim was to optimally minimize the drag on the LT models and enhance downforce on SS.

SEE ALSO: Chevy Releases Two More Images of the Sixth Generation Camaro

At the front the Camaro features cross-car grille/headlamp aperture, while at the back it adds expressive taillamps. Unlike other models, the SS have unique rear spoiler, but all models do share the more pronounced, sculpted roof panel. The last feature improves the rigidity of the roof.

    Interior Design

As mentioned, the additional exterior color choices will be complemented by five interior color combinations. Furthermore, the cabin also benefits from the shifter-focused center console, the intuitive controls all over the place as well as the flat-bottom steering wheel.

All of the materials used for the upholstery of the interior are of the highest quality. Other cool features are the control rings around the air vents which are utilized for temperature and fan speed adjustments.

    Technology

Nowadays cars are stuffed with technologies that make everything easier. There are three technology features exclusive to the Gen Six Camaro. The first one is the new Drive Mode Selector, which has the capability of tailoring up to eight vehicle attributes for four modes. The modes are as follows: Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and Track. The last one comes only for the SS models.

The second feature is the Interior Spectrum Lighting, which can make the experience of the passengers amusing, because it offers 24 different ambient lighting effects on the dash, door panels, and center console. At last, the third feature is the high-definition configurable color display. There is also an additional screen but it comes on additional price.

    Performance & Engines

The first thing regarding the performance that the engineers had to do is to make vehicle’s body mass lighter. Hence, the new Camaro has shed more than 200 pounds of weight, thus achieving better driving experience and more responsiveness.

Next on the list were the engines. The range here features six different powertrain combinations. Common among them is that they are designed to show improved performance and efficiency.

In details, Camaro LT comes as a standard powered by 2.0L Turbo unit, which produces 275 horsepower (205 kW) and 295 lb-ft of torque (400 Nm). The 0-60 mph acceleration happens in less than six seconds, while the fuel consumption is more than 30 mpg on the highway. This means that this is the most fuel-efficient Camaro ever built.

The LT grade can be also equipped with the 3.6L V6. If this is the case, this means that we should expect 335 horsepower (250 kW) and 284 lb-ft of torque (385 Nm). Both engines can be mated to either the six-speed manual transmission or the Hydra-Matic 8L45 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

At last, the most powerful Camaro is the SS and it is powered by the 6.2L LT1 V8 engine. We know this unit from the Corvette Stingray, but for the Camaro 20 percent of the components were changed and made specific for its architecture. The output of this engine is rated at 455 horses (339 kW) and 455 lb-ft of torque (617 Nm). This one can be connected to six-speed manual or Hydra-Matic 8L90 paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission.

Other vital performance features are the Magnetic Ride Control active suspension and the improved handling. Well, all Camaro models will have Brembo brakes, and will ride on Goodyear tires coupled with either 18-inch or 20-inch wheels.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale later this year. It will be made available only in two grades: LT and SS.

  • Chevy Releases Two More Images of the Sixth Generation Camaro

Chevrolet has just released two more images of the heavily anticipated Camaro Gen 6. This happens in the week of the full reveal of the car, which is one of the most exciting debuts for this year. The company is obviously sensing the strong anticipation among us and this is why it has extensively teased the future generation model.

The impression that we get is that the car will boast sculpted exterior, athletic stance and muscle car presence. In the beginning there was the news that the vehicle has lost more than 200 pounds of its weight. The car will be built over a new architecture that is mass-efficient and contributes for the weight savings.

SEE ALSO: Gen 6 Camaro to Shed 200 Pounds

Changes like the aluminum beam supporting the instrument panel and the aluminum front and rear suspension contribute for this weight loss. In addition, the car will feature new dimensions as well as new components for the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 unit.

Thereafter, two more images followed. They have showed us the engine and the exhaust, accompanied by the news for a new Drive Mode Selector and sports exhaust system with electronically controlled valves.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Camaro Teased Again

In addition, the news from last week disclosed that the Chevy Camaro will feature leaner and more athletic design with complex shapes that will follow the functional elements, meaning that they will be built around the mechanical components. This is where we’ve seen the strong aluminum hood and the updated rear fenders.

SEE ALSO: Chevrolet Announces More Details about Gen 6 Camaro

And now it is time for the teaser game to continue. As usual, the company has released two more images that show further from the car. This time we have more details announced, an image of the side view and one of the front grille of the model.

The company said that the Gen 6 Camaro has been tested in the wind tunnel for more than 350 hours, which at times have been conducted during the whole day. As a result, the car is going to slip more easily through the wind, showing improved performance and stability, cooling and lower wind noise intrusion.

Necessary changes had to be made. For instance, the grille bars had to be set at a 13-degree angle to the horizon, thus helping the team achieve 1 percent improvement in the engine-cooling airflow. In addition, the team developed flush belly pan that goes from the front grille to the center of the vehicle. It is substituting the traditional front air dam to reduce aerodynamic lift. What is more, the smooth underbody reduces the total lift by 30 percent. It has one additional purpose – to minimize the aerodynamic drag.

Chevrolet is going to introduce the sixth generation Camaro this Saturday, 16th of March, at a special event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park. Stay tuned!

  • Chevrolet Announces More Details about Gen 6 Camaro

By the end of next week we will have the impression of the sixth generation Camaro. I don’t know about you, but I am really impatient to see it. Chevrolet is obviously sensing the strong anticipation among fans and has released two more pictures (teasers only) of the future model.

They show that the 2015 Camaro will sport a sculpted exterior that will reflect athletic stance and typical muscle car presence. However, let’s take a look back before we discuss the new details.

The first thing that the American company released was that the vehicle will shed more than 200 pounds of its weight. The car will be actually built over a new architecture that is mass-efficient and contributes for the weight savings.

SEE ALSO: Gen 6 Camaro to Shed 200 Pounds

Small changes like the aluminum beam supporting the instrument panel or the aluminum front and rear suspension contribute for that. Chevrolet also said that the dimensions of the exterior and interior are new to the Camaro Gen 6 as well as some of the components in the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 unit.

After these initial announcements Chevy teased the Camaro again, releasing two new images depicting the engine and the exhaust. The company also disclosed that the car will be equipped with new Drive Mode Selector, which will make most of its performance and will feature multiple drive settings.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Camaro Teased Again

Precisely, there will be exactly eight selectable modes, each of which will feature calibrations that will ensure that a specific throttle progression, steering and stability control is delivered. Magnetic Ride Control will be also included for the first time, but only in the SS.

In addition, it was also unveiled that the new Camaro’s sports exhaust system will have electronically controlled valves. Their purpose is to deliver better performance and greater sound levels.

Now, the company is announcing that the Chevy Camaro features leaner and more athletic design that complements the new driving experience. This news is accompanied by two teaser images which are the last two in the gallery below.

The design team at Chevrolet also said that the iconic muscle car will have more expressive design. The exterior of the model will be defined by complex shapes that will follow the functional elements. This means that they will be fitted around the mechanical components.

Take for instance the aluminum hood which includes powerful, but at the same time smoothly curved sculpted forms that were also highlighted by sharp creases. The end effect is that the hood looks like it has been shrink-wrapped around the engine.

In addition, the rear fenders feature an updated design which now includes more detailing, like the subtle crease that is parallel to the fender edge. As a result the new Camaro appears to have lower and wider stance.

Well, that is all for now, but stay tuned because Chevy is surely announcing more details and releasing additional pictures of the 2016 Camaro before its official debut on 16th of May at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.

  • Chevrolet Camaro Teasers

2016 Camaro Exhaust We are all waiting impatiently for the big reveal of the sixth generation Camaro on 16th of May, but until then we can at least enjoy some teasers regarding its structure. The company has released two new images depicting the engine and the exhaust. You can view them below in the gallery (they are the last two photos). More importantly, the company released the news that the car will be equipped with new Drive Mode Selector, which will make most of its performance and will feature multiple drive settings.

Other new technologies will also give the chance to drivers to tailor the car to the particular moment they are driving it. This will allow a lot of flexibility and this was actually inspired by the current Camaro ZL1 that is perfect for any kind of driving.

Aaron Link, Camaro’s lead engineer, said that the new model will be “even more adaptable” and will have eight selectable modes. And here steps in the Drive Mode Selector. It will include Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and Track settings, depending on the model. Each mode will feature calibrations that will ensure that a specific throttle progression, steering and stability control is delivered.

Magnetic Ride Control will be also a first, but it will be available only in the SS. What is more, Tour, Sport and Track programs will be offered by the active damping system and they will change the ride and handling balance.

At last, Chevrolet said that the new Camaro will sport a dual-mode exhaust system that will have electronically controlled valves. It will not only deliver great performance but also superior sound levels. Oh, and let me tell you a secret. • Gen 6 Camaro to Shed 200 Pounds

2016 Chevrolet Camaro's aluminum beam 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is not going to debut at the New York Auto Show. Instead, it is going to do that at its own special event at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. We have already heard its engine and now it is time for more details that reveal the untamed nature of the car. The team behind the construction of the sixth generation Camaro was challenged to bring about more from the handling, acceleration and to make sure that the fuel efficiency is even better.

This was a really tough task, because it meant that the new Chevy needed to loose more than 200 pounds (in comparison to the fifth gen version). At the same time, the engineers promised that some of the key characteristics of the Gen 5 will be kept. One of them is the agility, which allows for harder brakes and fantastic management of cornering.

In addition, the car will be also built over a brand new architecture that is mass-efficient and contributes for the weight savings. Such role has played other small changes like the aluminum beam supporting the instrument panel compared to the previous one made of steel. • 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Breaks Silence [VIDEO]

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Architecture TeaserThe silence is finally broken! We urge you to hear the throat of the next generation Camaro in the video below. The sixth edition of the most popular muscle car will be absolutely unique, right? What you don’t know is that the new Chevy model has been entirely reworked. In fact almost 70 percent of its architecture components are one-off. This means that Camaro Six will be a true performance master from the inside out judging from the sound it produces.

In addition, Chevrolet told us some very special details about the car. First, we must expect an “all-new car”, starting from the front with the redesigned grille and ending with the rear spoiler. In fact, there are exactly two elements that are taken from the fifth gen Camaro and these are the bowtie emblem on the taillamp panel and the SS badge.

Next, the car will be based on the Alpha architecture developed by General Motors. If this does not speak anything to you, then it is probably good to know that the Alpha will offer engaging driving dynamics, refined experience and the needed balanced stiffness. As mentioned, this architecture includes components that are new in the amount of up to 70 percent.

Even the size of the muscle icon is changed. Chevrolet says that the exterior and interior dimensions are new to the Gen 6, as well as the front and rear suspension and some of the components in the Small Block 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine. Mentioning the powertrain, 20 percent of it will be tailored to fit the Camaro’s new dimensions, including the tubular “tri-Y”-style exhaust manifolds.

Another instance is the front structure that is now lighter, while the profile is widened in order to deliver more stable driving experience. In addition, inside we will meet an interior that we have never seen before.

2016 Chevrolet Camaro will be unveiled on 16th of May at event in Detroit’s Belle Isle park. There are a lot of teasers to be unleashed until then, so stay tuned for more information and don’t forget to watch (and hear) the video below.
