  • Lexus Releases All-New NX 300H SUV

They say bad things come in threes, and maybe good things come in twos for Lexus debuts with a new model in two versions: the NX 200t with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and the NX 300h hybrid. Yet, the focus of this article falls on the latter version.

The NX 300h hybrid conquers the world with its quite sporty persona and excellent fuel efficiency. One of the most startling features of the SUV is the innovative design. The style is a cutting-edge compilation of edgy body creases and pointed outlines which transform the vehicle into something really distinguishable and like nothing else on the market. In combination with its truly distinctive look, the crossover utility vehicle enchants even more with the metal-like shades which accentuate it on the outside.

What else does The NX 300h offer apart from the obvious sharply angled bodylook? The hybrid model features Lexus Hybrid Drive with an Atkinson cycle 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 235 HP and 258Nm of torque. Moreover, the new Lexus SUV adopts sprung-weight damping control in order to increase ride comfort and other suspension improvements for better handling and stability. Additionally, the new Lexus uses just 5.6-litres per 100km and emits only 131g of CO2 per kilometer.

Many of the attributes of the SUV are optional on some of its rivals, including smart entry and start, 10-speaker audio with digital radio, reverse camera, satellite navigation, power tailgate, Enform connected mobility, tyre pressure warning sensors, 18-inch alloy wheels, 60:40 rear-fold seats and a spare wheel. Finally, this becomes the first hybrid powertrain in its class that offers and rear cross traffic alert in its range.

Interestingly enough, as Sean Hanley, Chief Executive, Lexus Australia, says that; “When designing the all-new NX, the engineers and designers wanted to offer consumers something unique – something that stood out from the crowd and offered innovative on-board technology while meeting the practical requirements of SUV customers.”

  • 2015 Lexus NX Redefines SUV Design

2015 Lexus NXLexus is redefining SUV’s design with its new NX, which has characteristics more typical to sportscars than slab-sided 4x4s. The model has muscular curves and agile angles that perfectly exemplify the development of Lexus’s L-finesse contemporary design language. The exterior features a low, sloping roofline, a cab-forward silhouette and flared wheel arches. The defining bodywork lines flow directly from the signature Lexus spindle grille.

One of the most striking features of the exterior of the car is that it looks like made from a single piece of metal. Lexus actually poured molten metal over the die. The next thing that grabs the attention is the grille flanked by new LED headlamps and daytime running lights. This forms the distinctive “face” of the NX.

Furthermore, the C-pillar has a wide angle to optimize internal storage width. The crouched look is linked to the NX’s good ramp-over angle performance, while the high point of the roof ensures more headroom for rear passengers.

The design of the exterior is also made in such way so that it can achieve the perfect balance between distinctive design and aerodynamic efficiency. The rear spoiler ensures smooth flow of air away from the back of the vehicle. In fact, the extensive wind tunnel testing revealed that the best results came from giving the leading edge of the fin an upturned lip.

The door mirrors and handles have air-cheating design. It features concealed key barrel and integrated single-LED illumination. Beneath the car, away from the direct sight, the designers added undercovers and spats to deliver clean airflow.

Inside, the cabin offers ample space for everyone. Its front-to-rear couple distance of 962 mm and the high roof design provides exceptional head clearance. What is more, the rear knee room is even greater than in some larger SUV models.

More space is also offered in the luggage area. The maximum loadspace width is 1,347mm. More storage space is accessible under the luggage board, taking the total luggage capacity to 555 litres in hybrid versions and 580 litres in the turbo petrol.

There are also various storage points around the cabin. For instance such are the glove and console boxes, a console tray, utility box, sunglasses hold, cup holders and door pocket holders for half-litre bottles.

The new hybrid NX 300h will be available for order now. Next year Lexus will introduce the NX 200t model, which will adopt Lexus’s new 2.0-litre petrol turbo engine.

2015-Lexus-NX-THUMB2015 Lexus NX exclusive range has just been revealed ahead of its official debut that it is going to make at the Beijing Motor Show in less than 10 days. The line-up has been teased a week ago. However, Lexus did not say much about what the car will boast. Now, we not only have the images of the 2015 Lexus NX F Sport and 2015 Lexus NX 300h, but we have also been provided with some substantial details around those two.

The sharply styled compact luxury crossover is Lexus’ entry into the mid-size SUV market. It has been based on the LF-NX Concept and looks as stylish and edgy as it. Its striking design is complemented by high-end technologies and luxury treatment.

In fact, NX has been designed to look as though it is has been cast from a single piece of metal. Its muscular appearance is achieved via the strong, flared wheel arches that house 17 or 18-inch wheels. As in the concept, brand’s signature spindle grille is the main focus here. It has been reinforced by LED headlamps and daytime running lights.

At the sides, the vehicle has a roofline that’s set towards the rear of the vehicle. Details here include an innovative door mirror design and a world-first door handle mechanism with a concealed key barrel and integrated lighting. At the rear, one can see L-shape combination lamps, fitted with LED lighting. The design also echoes the spindle grille treatment at the front.

Inside, Lexus NX looks more like a sports car. The highlights here include thick-rimmed sports steering wheel and contrasting trims. The driver will also enjoy intuitive interaction with the controls, instrumentation and HMI technology.

The company announced that the NX range will utilize a highly efficient petrol-electric hybrid engine in the NX 300h; a Lexus-first 2.0-litre petrol turbo in the NX 200t; and a naturally aspirated petrol unit in the NX 200. Of course, customers will have the option to choose it front or all-wheel drive.

Some of the technologies that are going to be featured include: Lexus-first wireless charging tray; Lexus Remote Touch Interface with a touch pad control; Panoramic View Monitor; comprehensive multi-information display with a Lexus-first G-sensor; head-up display; Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

2015 Lexus NX’s additional list of specifications and powertrains will be announced ahead of the vehicle going on sale towards the end of this year.
