2014 Peugeot 308 SW: A Spacious Estate for Modern Families

Peugeot has officially unveiled full details about the all-new 308 SW model. The dynamic estate car with a performance-oriented design boasts outstanding load space and impeccable road manners.

2014 Peugeot 308 SW meets the expectations of the customers by concentrating on the basic requirements for this segment in four key areas – design, efficiency/functionality, driving experience and quality.

The exterior features ‘floating’ grille framed in chrome flanked by expressive, emblematic headlamps. Full LED technology – 31 per headlamp – is fitted as standard on the upper trim levels, providing a technical and distinctive lighting signature.

The profile of the 308 SW benefits from a wheelbase and rear overhang that are 11cm and 22cm longer respectively than the hatchback. It means the model takes its place among the most ‘balanced’ estates in the segment.

The dimensions of the 4,585 mm in length, width of 1,804 mm and height of 1,471mm. The car’s generous dimensions allow it to offer volumes that are among the best in the segment. The boot below the parcel shelf is an impressive 660 litres and outstanding 1,660-litres with rear seats folded down.

The interior is based on the Peugeot’s i-Cockpit from the hatchback. It comes with a compact steering wheel, a head-up instrument panel and a tall centre console and a 9.7” touch-screen for intuitive access to infotainment functions.

The engine range includes ultra-efficient Euro 6 petrol and diesel engines. The power ranges from 130HP to 155HP for the petrol units and 92HP to 150HP for the diesel variants. There is also a new BlueHDi 1.6-litre 120HP diesel mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and returning the exceptional 88.3 mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 85 g/km. This is a record in the segment.

Presented for the first time at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the new Peugeot 308 SW will go on sale on 19^th June in the UK.

2014 Peugeot 308 UK – Price £14,495

2014 Peugeot 308 UK is now available to order with pricing starting from £14,495 – Access trim level, Active is priced from £17,195, Allure costs £18,645 and the top-of-range Feline is £20,995.

The New 308 is a Peugeot like no other and at its heart is the innovative Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2). The car is the first new Peugeot to benefit from this advanced architecture, which has incorporated 116 patented technologies. The new 308 is up to 140kg lighter compared to the predecessor model.

One of the features which makes the New 308 so desirable is its premium ‘i-Cockpit’ interior. Driver-focused like nothing else in the segment, and with a notably uncluttered dashboard, it offers one of the most technically advanced touch-screen infotainment systems on any new car. With a large 9.7” screen size, this intuitive interface allows the user to control everything from the climate control to the audio system.

2014 Peugeot 308 Built On Innovative EMP2 Chassis

2014 Peugeot 308 has an impressive inside and out credentials. It features pure and contemporary styling, offers compact dimensions, class-leading environmental characteristics and innovative PEUGEOT i-Cockpit cabin layout as well as dynamic drive.

What is new around the model however is the chassis on which it sits – it is the ‘Efficient Modular Platform 2’ (EMP2). 2014 Peugeot 308 is the first new model to benefit from this advanced architecture.

The new model is wide 4.25 m, which means that it is 3cm shorter than the outgoing model. Yet the front overhang has been reduced by a massive 6.3cm, creating a ‘wheel in each corner’ profile and more usable space for front seat occupants and their luggage.

Furthermore, 420 litres with the rear seats up contribute towards the fact that the new 308 is the largest car in the segment. The optimal and minimal adjustability of the driver’s seat has been increased; however, the space for rear passengers has been kept.

EMP2 also contributes for the lower and wider stance of the vehicle. The car’s roofline is 40mm closer to the ground, and via an increase in track width the centre of gravity is 2mm lower. The new chassis also accommodates better many of the car’s components, such as the right-hand drive pedal box.

EMP2 platform also delivers underpinnings on which the entire car is e is built. The interior of the model is so striking and contemporary and it carries the name PEUGEOT i-Cockpit premium interior. It is driver-focused and offers one of the most technically advanced touch-screen infotainment systems.

Another benefit stemming from the new chassis is the lowered weight due to the utilization of advanced materials and state-of-the-art manufacturing processes – including flexible rolling, hot stamping and laser welding. The result is impressive, a loss in the weight of 140 kg.

2014 Peugeot 308 – Price £14,495

Peugeot has announced the full details and pricing for the new MY2014 308 model, which is now available to order. 2014 Peugeot 308 boasts a stylish design, impressive driving experience, class-leading efficiency and built to high-standards with high-quality materials, but does so in ways that also enhance the delights of ownership and the stress-free driving experience.

There are four trim levels: Access, Active, Allure and Feline, each one with compelling features and competitively priced.

The standard equipment for Access includes AC, remote central door locking, cruise control with speed limiter, DAB digital radio, LED daylight running lights and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Active model comes with dual zone air conditioning, electric handbrake, rear parking sensors, integrated 9.7” touch screen and SAT NAV.

The Allure features innovative full LED headlamps, 17” alloy wheels, a reversing camera and front parking sensors.

Peugeot has announced the all-new 2014 308 model. It has mpact dimensions and reduced weight (-140kg). Its driving experience is top-class and its CO2 emissions create a new benchmark (with a version at less than 85 g/km).

At the front, slim Full-LED headlamps, expressive and chiselled like a piece of jewellery, define the feline and technological look. They are standard on the upper trim levels, a world first in the segment.

A refined interior and innovative instruments and controls (the Peugeot i-cockpit) promise a great driving experience. Its high level of quality, the result of a very ambitious initial design brief, positions the vehicle among the best, embodying Peugeot’s move up-market.

The center console has a big 9.7” touchscreen display, which replaces a great number of the conventional buttons.

The car is expected to make its official debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
