2014-Hyundai-Tucson-Walking-Dead-Special-Edition-THUMB2014 Hyundai Tucson Walking Dead Special Edition can be currently ordered from brand’s dealerships in the United States. The limited-production special edition has all the exclusive elements typical for the series such as the unique graphics package, badging, floor and cargo mats, and even a backpack-style zombie survival kit. In other words, the car is the perfect mean to survive the ever-impending zombie apocalypse.

The car was revealed in November last year at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It was created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of The Walking Dead graphic novel series. This limited series Tucson includes an Ash Black exterior with a subtle red accent graphics package and Special Edition exterior and interior badges.

There are also roof rack cross rails which are handy in hauling necessary survival gear. The vehicle will be offered only in AWD. Inside, the interior is wrapped in black leather, and within it passengers will find a custom Zombie Survival Kit.

Walking Dead Special Edition Tucson is powered by 2.4-liter Theta II Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine which produces 182 hp (135 kW) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. Furthermore, the vehicle offers great features such as LED taillights, dual automatic temperature control and a premium audio system with HD Radio technology. Additionally, Tucson’s third-generation navigation system includes a larger seven-inch touchscreen. It is also equipped with Blue Link safety, service and infotainment telematics system as a standard.

  • 2014 Hyundai Tucson Gets Refreshed

2014-Hyundai-Tucson-THUMB2014 Hyundai Tucson is now even more stylish and functional, and now it is equipped with performance-enhancing technology and advanced 2.0-liter Nu and 2.4-liter Theta II Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine.

To be more precise, the GDI engines are complemented with SACHS Amplitude Selective Damping (ASD) for optimum ride, handling and driving comfort. In the MY2014 are also featured many optional refinements such as Hyundai’s Blue Link safety, service and infotainment telematics system, two-stage reclining rear seats and third-generation navigation with a larger seven-inch touchscreen display and HD Radio technology.

To go even further into details, the improvements here, next to the new engines, include the following: available AWD, Standard Blue Link and Hyundai Assurance Connected Care, third generation navigation with larger seven-inch touchscreen and HD Radio technology, Standard Bluetooth hands-free phone system, 4.3-inch color LCD touchscreen audio with rearview camera.

The exterior enhancements include new projector headlights with LED accents, LED taillights, Shark-fin antenna on Limited trim, roof side rails with panoramic sunroof, standard 17-inch or optionally available 18-inch alloy wheels.

Throughout the interior are also present many new additions: two-stage reclining 60/40 split rear seats, standard tilt and telescopic steering wheel, floor console mounted rear vents, standard-steering-wheel mounted audio and cruise controls, cupholder illumination, new interior colors -beige and brown.

The engine the vehicle is equipped is the 2.0-liter Nu GDI engine which generates 164 horsepower (120 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 205 Nm (151 lb.-ft.) of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Nu four-cylinder engine with GDI delivers a good balance between performance and fuel economy. For the first time, the entry level 2014 Tucson GLS with the 2.0-liter Nu engine will be available with AWD.

If one looks for more horsepower, then there is available the 2.4-liter Theta II GDI unit, which has the ability to tow up to 2,000 pounds. It is capable of generating 182 horsepower (134 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft.) of torque, and can deliver an estimated fuel economy of 24 mpg combined.

Regardless the engine, all Tucson models use a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC® manual control. In addition, 2014 Tucson’s athletic shape is complemented with agile handling – it utilizes MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension systems for more precise wheel control and a smoother ride.

In addition, all four wheels are controlled by coil springs and Sachs Amplitude Selective Damping (ASD). The latter provides improved ride comfort with more body/wheel control, increased driving comfort without compromised handling, and optimized road surface contact.

Next, to the AWD, the new Tucson features Hyundai’s Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Brake Control (DBC). The first one, the HAC is designed to minimize rolling backwards on steep ascents. On the other hand, the DBC switch, the Hydro-Electronic Control unit manages the wheel speed sensors, steering angle sensor and acceleration sensor in order to operate the control and speed on steep declines without having to use the brake.

2014 Hyundai Tucson will be available at dealerships in the autumn of 2013.
