  • Sprint Series Toyota Celica GT4 – fastest at the 2011 GoodWood

The fastest car at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed is staggering Sprint Series Toyota Celica GT4, which took to course of 1.16 miles in just 48.07 seconds.

In fact, the Celica had to beat many famous racing cars, including recent Formula 1 cars. The car was driven and built by former British Rally Champion, Jonny Milner. M

The racing car is based on the sixth generation Celica. It is super-lightweight – 1 050kg. Furthermore, for better weight distribution, the driver’s position has moved back 30cm (12 inches) and the car’s centre of gravity has been lowered by raising the wheel arches and upper suspension mounts. A flat floor and rear diffuser add a degree of ground effect.

The engine is a 2.0 liter turbocharged from Corolla WRC – 700BHP at 5700RPM at 2bar boost and over 800BHP with nitrous oxide boost. Nice!

Super soft rallycross specification Michelin slick tyres also played an important role in getting all that horsepower to the ground.

  • Porsche at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Porsche will take place at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The manufacturer will exhibit several cars including 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and Panamera Turbo S as well as Semper Vivus, 718 F2, 917/30, GT2 RS and 911 Turbo. The company celebrates 60 years of Porsche in the UK and you will be able to follow Porsche Origin for latest Goodwood news and action on-line

Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 is powered by a twin-turbocharged flat 4.0 liter flat-six with staggering 500HP. It will be tested alongside the ultimate turbocharged 911, the 620 hp GT2 RS. The new 550PS twin-turbo Panamera Turbo S will make its first public appearance.

The company is also bringing the famous Porsche 917/30 to Goodwood. It has a 5.3 liter 180° flat-12 cylinder layout, twin overhead camshafts driven from centrally mounted gears and twin spark plugs fed from two distributors. The power – over 1 100 bhp (820 kW) and 1 580 bhp (1 180 kW) in qualifying tune. Remember, this happens in the begging of 70’s, when there weren’t any ASC,DSC and other stability programs. The record on closed circuit is 356 km/h (221 mph). Nice!

At the 1951 Earl’s Court Motor Show, the first right-hand drive examples of the Porsche 356 made their UK debut. To celebrate the diamond jubilee of Porsche in the UK, a range of iconic Porsche road cars over the decades including an early 911 from the 1960s and the 928 GT from the 1980s will be on display at the Porsche Experience Centre Goodwood.

  • Ferrari FF at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Ferrari FF was exhibited at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside the front engined V8 California and the mid-rear mounted 458 Italia.

As you well know, FF is the first All-wheel-drive model from the manufacturer. The brutall power from the mighty 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 is transferred to the wheels, through 4RM system, which distributes 47% of torque to the front wheels and 53% to the rear wheels. As we speaking for torque – 683Nm (504 lb-ft) at 6000RPM.

The maximum power comes at 8000RPM – 660PS, which means catapulting to 100 km/h for 3.7 seconds and top speed of “just” 335 km/h (208 mph). The curb weight of the car is 1790kg and the fuel consumption – 15.4 liters per 100 km, combined cycle.

The other Ferrari, which is at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed is the beautiful 458 Italia. It is just staggering with its presence as well as the power from the 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8. 570PS are enough to launch the car into the space – 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and top speed of 327 km/h (203 mph). The curb weight is 1380 kg, so the 458 won’t be fast only in straight line, but at the race track, too. Actually, it is as fast as an Enzo.

Finally, Ferrari brought the new California, which boasts a direct-injected 4.3 liter V8 with just 460PS. However, it offers the latest F1-Trac traction control system, multi-link rear suspension, and, of course, an innovative retractable folding hardtop that opens or closes in only 14 seconds.

  • Jaguar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

The 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed was launched today and Jaguar takes a huge part in it. Furthermore, the 50th anniversary of the iconic E-type is being celebrated.

Yasmin Le Bon and her daughter Ambe were present at the launch of the show. Amber posed alongside arguably the most famous E-type of all – one of two cars to have made an epic, high-speed journey from Coventry to Geneva in March 1961 at the behest of Sir William Lyons.  The car, a prototype Series One E-type roadster carrying the registration “77 RW”, was delivered by Norman Dewis, Chief Test Driver at the time.

The new Jaguar XKR-S was tested by doing a series of dramatic demonstration runs up the notorious Goodwood hill.

The 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed will see Jaguar take centre stage with a dramatic sculpture being commissioned for the lawn in front of Goodwood House.  The fans will be able to view an array of Jaguars from the past, present and a little way into the future with the XK120, and examples of the C-, D- and E-type.

The Festival will start on Thursday 30 June with the Moving Motor Show – a chance for visitors to experience the latest Jaguar road cars and even get behind and take on the Goodwood hill.
